TEST DRIVE MEME: SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER

TDM: SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched, with your mouth full of sand. The salt water is making all the cuts and scrapes on your skin sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean.

There are lights in the distance, but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not - you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all on the more informative end of the scale. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous readers saying they're lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there are the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien.

Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines.

Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

She is in hysterics to a point, fingernails digging into her arms as she struggles with wings bursting fully formed from her back, this time with all the pain she'd never had to deal with before. They flap rapidly, torn skin and sheets of blood sloughing off her back along with a shredded red jumpsuit.

Suddenly someone is touching her back; she had cried out for help after all. This wasn't a wound she could recover from so quickly as pretending she hadn't had a tail at all once it was cut off. Still, the touch startles her and she snaps with still-blunt teeth before looking up at Johnathan with bright pink slitted eyes.

She snatches up a few of the pills, crushing them between her teeth and grimacing at the taste, barely holding back a gag as she swallows a mouth full of blood and aspirin powder, long split tongue lolling out of her mouth like an animal.

"This will do fine- bring me a glass of water and find a soft place for me to lay, you can help me recover from this awful transformation I've been forced into."
standless: (just very disappointed)

So rude..! Jonathan for his part is assuming the reason is pain- horns are one thing, but entire wings must be absolutely excruciating, particularly with all the parts involved, the connection to the spine...

"Of course," he answers without hesitation. "Here, take my hand- I believe there was a bench nearby...if I knew my way through this city better, I could seek out a medical centre, but at the very least it will be better than nothing."

As for water, he can only hope that a nearby storefront is accommodating enough in that regard...also, that it's been boiled and cleaned already. Water directly from any river would no doubt be more likely to make this poor woman more ill than she already was..!

Johnathan must be surprised and pleased then, when he finds distilled bottled water at every store front for small change.

Ma'am is spoiled with the comforts of a doting companion and a plush living space and she's been oh so wrongfully deprived of that since arriving here. Jonathan's presence is a welcome change of pace. She takes his hand with an iron grip, hesitant to stand and flex her new muscles but also desperate to get off this filthy street.

"How long have you been here? I was thrown ashore so cruelly a month ago and made it my business to know the accomodations of the dreadful place. The medical center advertises itself."

He is especially pleased, and grateful, when someone actually lets him have some water free after he explains his plight later.

This is good because he has Zero Change, he's very bad at things so far.

Perhaps fortunately for the Buttwitch is the fact that Jonathan has at least once heard of the intense strength that every single monster apparently finds themselves with in this place- he's assuming therefore, that any force on his hand isn't intended.

Unfortunately the rudeness cannot be ignored, so he's rather quietly reminding himself that this is (probably) just a matter of fear and upset (he hopes).

At least she'll be helped to a bench and given water soon. "Scarely even one month, by the calendars here. But in such a foreign place, one month has proven itself far from enough to grow so familiar to every street," he admits. "To know where we are, and where various facilities are with such ease is surely an impressive feat of skill," Jonathan adds. At the very least, he's certainly still finding himself rather turned around in this place.

He's also taking the likely insult quite well, if he even registered it as an insult. "Let me see if I can get you that water," he insists. "Lay down as comfortably as you can manage until then." A bench is hardly comfortable, but at least it isn't ground.

She makes a face, very much having already decided that this man is stupid, but useful. She leans her full weight on him to carry, tall curvy, but not particularly heavy in any way.

The bench absolutely isn't comfortable, but laying down on her stomach does take some of the strain off, wings folded loosely on her back, breathing heavily. It has the added bonus of offering her a way of keeping her shirt on, considering the back was ripped open fully.

"Fine, this will do. If you can find me a shawl as well, bring it with you when you return."

There are not a lot of things that ultimately phase Jonathan at this point in his life. He's seen some shit. He's punched some stuff. He's even met a criminal or two.

And yet ultimately, this woman's behavior has now reached a point where he cannot help but at least slightly raise his eyebrow.

At least his jacket can help with keeping the woman's back warm, and he can't really argue about the idea of a shawl. "I'll see what can be found," he tells her honestly. "If I can, I might bring another to provide better assistance- no doubt, one who has been here longer will have more to offer."

He just hopes that in that time, this person's attitude cools down a little. it won't
