TEST DRIVE MEME: NOVEMBER

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched, with your mouth full of sand. The salt water is making all the cuts and scrapes on your skin sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean.

There are lights in the distance, but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not - you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all on the more informative end of the scale. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous readers saying they're lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there are the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien.

Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines.

Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

"Not in-person no." He peers up at the guy as if studying an interesting specimen.

"Waldo Butters." He reaches out a talon for a handshake, thinks better of it and almost withdraws it before realizing that would be rude.

Kevron isn't put off in the slightest and happily offers his hand in return, completing the handshake. Talons are far from the strangest hands to shake he's seen.

"Kevron, uh..." He takes a second to think. "Izayoi. Kevron Izayoi." He chuckles. "And now that you've met one for real, I hope I don't disappoint."

"So, are there, um, more folks like you around..? Ones that've 'changed'?" He realizes he might've come off as mean or insensitive with that last statement, but it's a little too late to take it back.

"Hi, Kevron. This may seem like a weird question, but have you ever heard of Orcheim?"

In his universe, that's a location in a video game and he can't help asking, just in case.

He notices the slight embarrassment in Kevron's last statement and raises an eyebrow. A flustered Orc.

"Lots of us. In fact everyone who isn't a native, which means you tool. Sorry about that."
thetuskathand: (troubled)

oh honey,

"Ah, I'm afraid not. If anyone would know for certain where that might be, it'd be one of my travelling companions, but they all seem to have. Vanished. Entirely. Is that.. normal too?"

"As for this whole changing business.. I hope I turn into a dragon.. That'd be fuckin rad.." He seems to be lost in thought.

Still seemingly daydreaming, he asks offhandedly, "Oh, and when do we get to go home?"

"Yes. I'm afraid so."

The guy doesn't seem affected by the change, but then maybe orcs wouldn't as much? Maybe they'd really be excited about turning into dragons.

Then again some humans there were also way too happy to be monsters, he thought.

"Oh." Okay that explained it.

"You didn't hear about the Fog god? And how no one can escape?

"the who now"
Up until now, Kevron hadn't been given any pamphlets or information like this from the locals--likely because they assumed he'd already begun changing. So this is... news to him.

This confirms a worry in the back of his mind that's been becoming worse and worse--that he might not even be on the same plane of existence anymore. From what he's seen and heard, that's technically a possibility. He's fairly certain he knows all of the gods of the world he came from. Hell, he's met a few of 'em. The Queen of Ravens, the Daughter of the Sun, the Pure... But he's never even heard of a "Fog God". It doesn't seem like he's in somebody's dreamscape, or that he's trapped on another Bullshit Floating Island™. Something feels a lot different here. It feels a lot more real.

Kevron's gotten around. But not this around.

"C-can't say that I have, no..!" A flustered orc quickly becomes a frightened orc. "Y-you sure nobody can leave? Not even a little bit?" His pitch noticeably raises as he speaks the last two words.

"Oh." He's just a second away from pinching the bridge of his nose.

"You are new, then. You haven't heard about the Fog god? Also known as the one that brought us here?"

He nods emphatically. "Sorry. It's the truth. Sometimes people fall asleep for a long time, but even then we don't think they go back."
