TEST DRIVE MEME: NOVEMBER

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched, with your mouth full of sand. The salt water is making all the cuts and scrapes on your skin sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean.

There are lights in the distance, but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not - you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all on the more informative end of the scale. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous readers saying they're lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there are the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien.

Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines.

Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[The water is almost freezing cold, causing Undyne to wake up almost instantly. The monster coughs up a lungful of sand, blinking her eye open as she gazes upward. Her eye widens once she realizes that she doesn't know where the hell she is, much less how she ended up on this stupid beach.]

Alphys? Papyrus? [A pause.] ...Frisk?

[But no one came. Undyne sneers, glancing up and down the shoreline. This place almost resembles the underground in the fact there doesn't seem to be any light seeping through the clouds, but...it can't be, can it? The underground was opened up long ago, and it's not like she could've been warped back in time.]

...If this turns out to be a prank or something, I am TOTALLY going to kick your ass!!!

[She tries to summon a spear in her hand, but nothing happens. She pauses for a brief moment, taken aback. Hell, she could barely remember a time when she couldn't use summoning magic. Grimacing, she tries again and again, getting more and more frustrated until--]

NGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

[Blinded by fury, she picks up a nearby rotting log and throws it with all her might, not looking where she's aiming. Watch out!]

[After being shoved into an unfamiliar place without being able to use any of her regular magic, Undyne is understandably very stressed and confused. When stress and confusion combine, they turn into anger. Thus, when Undyne is shoved a bunch of pamphlets about the fact that she's going to turn into a monster, she takes one look at them and....laughs?]

Thanks! But, uh, there's just one thing....

[She leans in, a wicked sneer on her face as she shoves them back into the person's hands.]

I'M ALREADY A MONSTER, YOU DORK. STOP TRYING TO GIVE THESE THINGS TO ME!!!

[Oh hey, is that screaming? Well that's a good way to grab Hakai's attention, it's not like whatever he was doing was important anyway.

So her shouts draw forth a gigantic purple dog, covered in large amounts of bright pink fluff. Truly the most ridiculous creature to have graced the world.

And he stares at her.

Intensely.]

DID THEY TAKE AWAY YOUR HORNS, TOO?!

[...For whatever reason, he sort of hunches down, holding both fists up like he's absolutely pumped at the idea of hearing that someone was also done dirty by the Fog God.]

[fuhuhuhuhu]

[Undyne whips around and stares right back at the giant purple dog, still grimacing. Definitely not the strangest monster she's run across in this place, but probably the fluffiest. But he looks ready to fight, what with his fists put up like that, which puts her on guard.

She's still in shouting mode, so she yells right back--]

WHAT?! I'M A FISH!!! FISH. DON'T. HAVE. HORNS!

[...Wait. He used to have horns?]

Oh my God, did some human chop off your horns?! THAT'S MONSTER MUTILATION!!! We're going to FIND the person who did this and BEAT THEM INTO THE GROUND!!!

[Woah, hey, horned fish would be outraged right about now. But now's not the time to be the hero horned fish need right now, Hakai is far too excited to see someone apparently just as outraged as he is over the horn situation.

Yelling intensifies.]

BuuurrRRrruaaahhhh!! I WISH it was a human!! AT LEAST I CAN PUNCH THEM THEN. But no. It was that ACCURSED fog god everyone loves to talk about SO MUCH!!

AND TRUST ME, I TRIED TO PUNCH THE FOG, IT DOESN'T WORK!!

[fuhuhuhuhu]

[Well, this is definitely a conundrum. Undyne pauses for a moment, her eyebrows furrowed in thought. She already likes this guy, and this injustice to monsterkind will NOT go un-justiced!

Her eye sparkles as an idea hits her.]

Well, now I'm here! I bet that fog can't take TWO monsters punching it, HUH?!?!

[She leans forward towards the werewolf, a wide, confident grin on her face.]

Listen here, buddy, we're gonna get your horns back!!! BECAUSE NO ONE CAN STOP THE POWER OF PUNCHING!!!

[What a wonderful yokai... Ex-yokai. It doesn't matter, someone's finally speaking his language.]

RIGHT, OF COURSE!! How could I have been so blind?! No matter how vaporous, NO ONE can avoid such a concentrated attack!!

COME!! We must find the area with the most fog. THE MORE FOG, THE LESS CHANCE TO DODGE!!

[There's a wild gleam in his eyes, his mouth pulled back more than a normal dog's should, creating an incredibly toothy smile. Finally, revenge will be his!! ...And this apparently hornless-fish's.]

[fuhuhuhuhu]

Well then, WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?! LET'S GO FIND SOME FOG TO PUNCH!!!!

[At last! She whirls around, trying to see where any fog may lurk. In a city as winding and maze-like as this, no one can tell where the fog might be hiding!!!

She points down a random street with an extreme amount of confidence.] THIS WAY!!!

[And she sprints forward, cackling madly with delight.]

[Hakai drops to all fours and races after her like a crazy wild animal, yelling the entire time. His cries sound like a mix between a dog and a dog trying to imitate the bellows of a bull, and he has absolutely no shame in how ridiculous it all is.

...Since he's a fully transformed monster, he's...a little faster than a human, and every time he notices he might be nudging ahead, he...purposely slows down to get behind her.

Look, she looks like she knows where she's going more than he does.]

BUUUuuuURRRRRRrrUUUUuuuaaAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

[Did someone mention ass kicking? Because this is the exact kind of place for that.

Tyl's here because it's as close as he'll get to being in Uranus and a good place to practice his water magic. But nevermind that now, there's a log flying right at him.

Never to be outdone, this freakish spiky goblin with artificial hands and grabs it in mid air before slamming it into the ground.]

Didn't come here for a fight, but if it's 'ass kicking' you're looking for. [Darkly chuckles.] Then I suppose this is Ass Kick Beach.

[fuhuhuhuhu]

[Oh, thank God, a monster. It's not any monster she's seen before, but that's no problem. He looks strong and ready for a fight, which is exactly what Undyne wants. A grin spreads across her face as she lets out a single, sharp HA.]

You better get ready, then, because your ASS is about to get KICKED right here on ASS. KICK. BEACH!!!

[She instinctively sweeps her arm to the side in a motion to summon a spear, but then she remembers that her magic is useless here. So, instead, she pretends that she didn't just do that and puts up her fists in a fighting stance. She doesn't need any spears to utterly obliterate someone.]

DO YOUR WORST!

[Thank god there's someone reasonable on this forsaken island. None of that stupid pacifist garbage. This is REAL warrior spirit.]

We'll see won-- [Notices she's doing some weird thing with her arm like she was pulling out a weapon.] What. What was that?

Nevermind.

[Tyl charges ahead. He wishes he had his rocket arms, but you know what? He has the next best thing: throwing. Tyl removes one of his prosthetic arms, simply Chucking it at the fish as he bellows.]

[fuhuhuhuhu]

WOAH!

[Undyne jumps to the side, the arm just barely missing her head. A confident smirk appears on her face as she rolls on the sand to try and grab the fallen prosthetic.]

You're going to have to try better than that.

[She wields the thing in both hands. She still has to deal with Tyl charging at her, and she knows it. So, she winds up a hit by holding it like a baseball bat and prepares to strike as soon as he's in range. She's fought monsters bigger than this guy--she's confident she can take him!]

[She might be right there, tiny robot ninjas consistently beat him up.

The arm was a long shot (literally), so he has to make do with the fact he's fighting one handed.]

You haven't even seen me on half effort.

[Tyl opts for flipping in the air, using his remaining arm to deliver an elbow drop in Undyne's direction.]

[fuhuhuhuhu]

[Let's hope that she's at an advantage while she's still in possession of the weird goblin dude's arm. Of course, she...didn't expect him to flip into the air. A smirk appears to be fixed upon her face as she plants the arm in the sand and does a forward roll to avoid his attack. Let's hope he gets distracted trying to pull that out.]

HALF effort?! You hardly look like you're trying to hit me!!! FIGHT ME LIKE YOU MEAN IT, DAMMIT!!!

[She's absolutely enjoying this. She scrambles to her feet and, letting out a roar of fury, sends a lunging kick in the other monster's direction.]

Not sure I can really offer the one anymore, but I used to have a bit set up in some abandoned train-station near my tree!

Should still be an arena and some dummies in there...

Unless you're looking for a real challenge of course...

[Alphys lets out a shrill yelp and ducks as the log comes hurtling directly at her face.]

[Hang on a second. Undyne knows that voice. She freezes, her arms still poised after throwing that log.]

ALPHYS!

[Her head whips around to see--oh. Hm. She pauses for a moment, her eyebrows furrowing.]

....Why do you look like a human?!

[Alphys uncurls slightly once the threat of imminent death by tree is gone, peeking out from behind her hands-]

I look like a what?

[....Her very pink, fleshy, not-covered-in-scales hands.]

[SCREAMS]

[Okay, okay. Don't panic. Do NOT panic. Your girlfriend has just somehow...become trapped in some fleshy human's vessel, that's all! Yeah! Everything is cool!

Still very much panicking, Undyne tries to pick up Alphys and tuck her under her arm.]

I-It's alright!!! We'll figure out what's going on and who stole your body!!! And once we find that out, I'm gonna PUNCH that person SO HARD that they'll HAVE to give your body back!!!!

[...Yeah!]
