Test Drive Meme: July
Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!
SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched, with your mouth full of sand. The salt water is making all the cuts and scrapes on your skin sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance, but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not - you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.
SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all on the more informative end of the scale. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous readers saying they're lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
Then there are the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.
SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines.
Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.
SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
omg i'm so happy to see a shirabe
How do you metaphorically give someone that can't walk a hand?
oh, yo, glad you're happy
How do you literally give a hand to someone six times your size?
[Shirabe flutters in place for a second, then drifts down after Makoto. It's odd, that she can move her body without actually - affecting her stance, or anything. She's flying. And she's done that before, with the help of her gear, so that's probably a reason she isn't as off-guard as she could be. But propellers are very different from wings.]
... I think I might be able to control my size, but I haven't been able to figure out how. When this started I was even smaller than this. I'm sorry.
[If she could just get back to her usual size, she'd - well, still be pretty small, but human-sized small. She could give Makoto a shoulder to lean on. As it stands, she just floats down to her hand. At her current height, she's just about big enough to wrap her arms around Makoto's wrist, try to pull her up to her feet. There's not a lot of strength to it, but there's enough that Makoto can at least lean into it if she pushes herself up too.]
i need to get caught up on symphogear but shirabe's always been a favorite of mine :3
If I knew how I'd tell you how to change, but I don't. I'm sorry. There should be manuals or something, like those ones talking about bunnyipyips. "So now you have hooves" and "Help! I've changed size and don't know how to be normal again!" would be a lot of help right now.
[But even so, she appreciates Shirabe's help, as awkward as it is. It's with that help that she does manage to slowly get back onto her
feethooves.]... Thanks. I appreciate it.
I really liked most of AXZ. Glad we're on the same boat with Shirabe being a fave.
[Once Makoto's back up to her feet - or, well, what her feet have become - Shirabe lets go of her, brushes her hands off. She had to requisition scraps of clothing using the smallest knife she could find, so her clothing right now can be described as potato sack-esque, but at least it means she doesn't mind brushing her hands off on it.
It's funny, how many things you take for granted. Like clothes fitting. Or having feet.]
Mm. Don't mention it. ['With nothing like that around, all we can really do is rely on each other,' - she wants to say, but it's a few too many words at once. She's nervous, is what she is, and Shirabe tends to get a little less talkative when she's nervous. And she's a quiet person generally.
She wishes Kirika was here to be her voice, but then again, she doesn't want Kirika to see her like this.]
How long have you been like that?
gosh I have it downloaded so maybe I should make a point to watch it soon
[She takes a moment to find a nearby wall to lean against so she doesn't fall over again so quickly, and she crosses her arms over her chest. Hmm. She'd been dreading the changes, and still does, but... well, this is a thing that's happening and they have no youtube videos to lead the way.]
How long have you been like that?
really great villains and shirabe actually gets some focus on her own without kirika, which was nice
[Sleeping like this had been an adventure, mostly because she'd been worried about getting trapped under blankets, or anything blanket esque. At least when she'd woken up she'd apparently made herself a bit taller in her sleep. Maybe if she waits this out, she'll be back to normal height.
... But then her wings will be an issue, when it comes to sleeping. Hm.]
If we're both new at this, we should help each other. [She considers leaving it there, but then nods.]
I'm Shirabe Tsukuyomi. [She's never had to introduce herself, that many times. She grew up in a facility, and the only people she really met after were, well, enemies at first. Except when she transferred into school. So - ]
My hobbies are cooking and singing. [Nailed it. This is what an introduction is, right?]
oh good, that's good to know. yeah i'll def watch it soon then!
[Which is, honestly, one of her biggest fears. This morning was tough enough, and it's only the beginning. And honestly, Makoto's just the social sort. She follows up with a similar introduction, one that feels practiced (because she's said it enough for introductions in the past).]
I'm Makoto Kikuchi. My hobbies are being an idol and sports. It's too bad we couldn't have met sooner, huh?
hope you enjoy it!
[That's surprising. She doesn't really look like - okay, actually, now that she thinks about it, the one idol she does know absolutely has some masculine charm to her, even if Tsubasa's more 'cool samurai' than 'tomboy.' And Maria's more pop star than idol, which is slightly different.]
Nice to meet you. Do you think you can walk again? We can find somewhere for us to sit down, at least. [Standing against a wall like that probably isn't good for your back, she figures. She flutters about a half step away, turns her head back.]
Try thinking of it like you're tiptoeing, maybe. You don't have a heel to rest on anymore. [She's spitballing here, and will take full responsibility if Makoto falls on her face, but she doesn't want her to feel like she can't do anything.]
oh i know i will '3'b
[Which is for the best, she wouldn't want any of them to go through this. She loves them all, even Iori, but not so much that she'd wish for them to deal with this situation too.
She pushes herself off the wall to at least try Shirabe's suggestion and takes a few cautious steps. The spitballing worked, because even though she's still concentrating on not falling, she can at least move somewhat steadily. Until she glances up to beam at Shirabe and has to throw her arms out for trying to regain her balance.]
It worked! Let's go find that place to sit so we can figure out your size problems.
[And once her balance is regained, she'll make her way to a nearby bench so that she can collapse on it. Progress is important.]
no subject
[Shirabe's used to weird modes of transportation - rollerblading, the little wheels on Shul-Shagana, so on. So she supposes she might have a decent understanding of how balance works, especially since she's managed to be an agile fighter even with all of those things. She's sincerely glad it's helped Makoto out, anyway.
She flutters after Makoto as she approaches the bench, realizing that she has to make a decent amount of effort to cover the same ground Makoto can cover in a few uneasy steps. She can fly fast, but not that fast.]
I'm glad. [She doesn't want to sit on the bench, in case someone sits down and misses that she's there - yikes - so she flutters up to Makoto's shoulder, brushes out her clothes and sits down there, instead.]
Is this fine? I feel like I'm light. [She probably weighs less than a smartphone right now, as a point of comparison, so she really doubts she's hurting Makoto's shoulder any.]
What if I just think of it as stretching myself out? [She lifts her arms up above her head, interlaces her fingers, and stretches upwards, but - yeah, nothing. Hm.]
no subject
[She waves off Shirabe's concern about sitting on her shoulder, it's no big deal. It's odd, but after today, it's far from the weirdest thing to have happened today or at all since she got here.]
You said you were even smaller than this when you started, right? What'd you do to get where you are now? If you try doing that again, maybe you'll get bigger.
