TEST DRIVE MEME: SEPTEMBER

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

A faerie.

[One derived almost entirely from a cicada. She has no choice but to tell the truth about her species, even if it might give advance warning of some of her defensive powers. In her eyes, the inability to lie is the single drawback to her existence as a monster; she has no moral compunction whatsoever regarding the eating of humans. She's moved up in the food chain, both literally and figuratively, and if one must do something to survive it's not murder. Even if it's killing people.]

This your first hunt?

[If he weren't on the prowl for prey, he likely wouldn't be roaming the woods in wolf form. That's her basic reasoning, anyway. And she hasn't heard this guy's voice before, so there's a chance he's one of the new draft.]

Yeah.

I'm hungry.

[The words are simple but heavy. Growled with effort. His stomach is churning loudly as he looks over Amanda's own unique body, eyes that are still too sensitive unable to be shielded by his usual glasses in this form.]

[He approaches with a limp, new limbs still aching with the pains of the missing stumps before, hazarding getting closer to a faerie. (Becoming aware of one's new supernatural lot in life is a hell of an adjustment).]

[He doesn't know that another version of him was around before. Younger and healthier. For him, he might as well be a fledgling.] I smell them everywhere. I don't know how I just know what they are. [Or that he wants to eat them. The words of a monster who had no one explain the implications of this new form, or this new way of life to him.]

Thought I told you not to do anything stupid.

[This asshole...conversation pushed from her mind, she aims her gun at him as he steps closer. Did he really expect her to just let a beast on the hunt, one who's just admitted he's hungry and smelling prey, to approach her with impunity? As if she'd take that chance.]

You stay where you are.

[He realizes then that he can't gesture, so he tosses his head.]

You'll want to move, then. Because a smell is coming from behind you.

[She doesn't seem particularly appetizing, but maybe that's because he's not hungry enough yet to eye monsters. But he is hungry enough that whatever is out there does make him salivate, hits his very keen nose and makes his stomach rumble.]

[And he hates that reaction. It's vile. But as it is right now, he can afford to be a little picky with his targets. If it's a kid, he can withdraw.]

[Amanda moves, alright, but doesn't take her eyes off him once. She simply sidesteps a couple paces, drawing a knife with one of her other five hands just in case there really is something behind her, but as things stand, she seriously doubts his assertion. He's probably lying, looking to make her drop her guard so he can feed on her...but he can't trick her. She won't let him. No one will get the drop on her ever again, not after what Clarence did to her when she thought that fight was over.]

Be my guest.
