TEST DRIVE MEME: MAY

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

Wow, who does this person think she is? Come to think of it, she isn't that old... And here Rhoda has been treating her like an adult! But this person is annoying her, so she decides to drop the charm. Her eyes narrow and the corner of her mouth twitches in irritation.

"What makes you so sure?" She folds her arms. "Are you the one who changes everyone into monsters? Or are you just sad because you're stuck in that monster body?"

For the current moment, it appears things have become a case of 'Unstoppable force meets immovable object', as Reira stares rather blankly for a number of moments. Perhaps Rhoda just misheard her. Yes, that's it, she thinks as she repeats herself.

"...Because you're not from here. And everyone brought here from somewhere else is going to be a monster." She then frowns in confusion, tilting her head. "...Why would I be sad anyway? I'm really strong now, and I can fly, and breathe underwater! And if I really wanted to look human for a while, I could probably ask Mana to help me learn

Not being from around here somehow equals turning into a monster. The whole thing is just so preposterous. Like any child her age, Rhoda has a fair enough imagination, but she knows the limits of reality. This is not reality. But she stands before this creature this was the middle of some nightmare. Some nightmare!

Then again...

"You can fly?" She perks up a little once more. Would it be worth it to look like that though? But then she mentions someone named Mana. "And who's Mana?" Can this mana make her fly without looking like that?

This is absolutely reality now, Rhoda. And even this one is at least a little more 'weird' than most others.

Maybe if she pinches herself really hard though... (nope)

Reira's wings shift, and the girl nods. "What else would these be for?" she asks, quite unaware of how clumsy and 'fake' they look now that they're primarily made of metal. It looks more like she's built herself a set of toys from scrap, than anything, and while they glow once opened, it doesn't change that fact. "Mana's a witch; she likes to help the monsters here, and sometimes she can get you things you left at home too. She changed the kind of monster I was, even..!"

She feels she should clarify that point however, so she adds-"...She can't make us stay human forever though, which is why that one's just a spell."
