TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!
SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.
SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

Some of the tension in her shoulders leaves, though not nearly enough. But she's relaxing a little, at least. Which is good because she absolutely would have clubbed him.]
...you wouldn't, but...maybe you're wrong or something. If someone messed with your memories, maybe you're just...remembering things wrong...I don't know. This feels wrong.
[This kind of stuff is straight out of a fiction novel.]
...but alright. I'll believe you for now. Don't think you can pull my leg or anything though, got it? I won't give you a hard time about all this but that doesn't give you free reign to try and take advantage of me. I'll tell my oniichan if you do and he'll make sure no one will ever find you.
[She could just threaten him herself but with boys, especially ones that know the family name (and who doesn't), the older brother threat is always more effective.]
no subject
Then again, it's just weird having a face. He'd never really stopped using facial expressions even when they were largely invisible, but suddenly he's hyper-conscious of the fact that other people can see them again.
He breathes an audible sigh of relief when she seems to accept it, finally lowering his hands.]
I'm getting really tired of people messing around in my head, believe me, [he answers, trying for another smile that doesn't quite make it.] Kuzuryu's one of my best friends, I wouldn't mess around with his sister like that. So let's just... try to get as much info as we can, okay?
no subject
[Again we're putting a pause on the info gathering, though at least not for any threatening this time. This time she just looks...beyond confused. She's looking at him as if he just grew tentacles out of his neck or something.]
You know my oniichan? You're best friends? When the hell did that happen?
no subject
[Crap...
He sighs again and rakes a hand through his hair, dislodging some sand.]
It's kind of complicated. Long story short, some things happened. I got mixed up with my-- with the Super High School Levels in your brother's class.
But... you said we were classmates, right? You mean... Hope's Peak Academy's Reserve Course...?
no subject
[This is the second time he's said that. But she nods.]
Yeah. Same class as you, like I said.
no subject
[And there's still so much I can't remember.
He stops walking, closes his eyes, and rubs his palm over his face, wincing as some of the dried salt from the water gets into a cut. He owes her some kind of answer, especially if she can shed light on his school memories.]
But how I met Kuzuryu doesn't have anything to do with this place. Before I was here, uh, before... me and your brother, and his classmates... we were all sent to an island. And they used a computer program to erase... our memories of school. I still haven't gotten those memories back.
1/2
okay /3 sorry
[Okay, nope, apparently she can't believe that as easily as she thought. Her expression darkens a little, much more different than before when she was threatening him about aliens.]
You better be careful about what you say, Hinata, because you're mixing Fuyuhiko in there now. Fucking with me is one thing but let me warn you now. Don't you dare screw around when it comes to my brother, got it?
there done
...if you know him even a little though, you know lyin' about something like that'll get you killed if he finds out. Just because you say you're friends and he looks soft doesn't mean he'll let you get away with that kind of shit. So I'll take your word for it. So where's this Vandare place?
no subject
[Right...? Please don't have left him bro. Not with your sister of all people.
He groans and shakes his head again, staring up at the sky. How long has he been gone? It feels like waking up after a particularly long nap, but...]
It's this way. See those lights in the distance?
[Not exactly lit up like a proper Japanese city, of course, but it's still visible.]
It shouldn't take too long to walk there. Other people will start heading that way, too. The locals can be pretty nice to people who've, uh, just arrived. Kind of like... if they're nice to us now, maybe we'll remember that and not eat them later.
[He winces, and from his tone of voice, it doesn't sound like he's making a joke.]
It doesn't last long. Not once the fog rolls in.
no subject
[Abandoning his little sister in a strange place like this. That'd just be rude. But she turns to where he's pointing, nodding her confirmation. Yes, she sees it. But then he says something about eating people.]
It's like everything that's coming out of your mouth gets weirder and weirder! Eat them? I'm not eating anyone!
no subject
[He sighs uncomfortably. What a conversationalist he is, full of sighs. He's going to run out of oxygen at this rate.]
You've got... bites and scratches on you, right? [he says finally, glancing back toward her. More than anything else, he looks tired. He doesn't want to go through this again. Not if it means the kind of transformation he'd already undergone.]
no subject
...yeah, so? We washed up from the sea, we probably got bitten up by some fish or something. Scratched on coral or shells.
[It's not uncommon or anything.]
no subject
That's not it. Or if it is... that's how it starts. The Fog God brings us here, and then she... changes us. They weren't pointing guns at us because they're bad people, Kuzuryu. They're scared of what we'll become.
no subject
I'm starting to like this Fog God less and less the more I hear about'er.
no subject
[A frown as he scratches the back of one hand uncomfortably, almost as if testing to see if his flesh is going to just peel off.]
I don't trust any of them. We have to find our own way to stop this and get home. This can't be our future.
no subject
[Gods were one thing but.]
Like...a jockey...? Or a breeder...?
[Hajime you're really making no sense here. None whatsoever.]
I agree though. I don't know what's going on but I'm not staying here, that's for sure. So whatever we have to do.
no subject
[He shrugs helplessly.]
Anyway... yeah. There's still a lot more about this place I should explain, but...
[His curiosity is overwhelming, not to mention he doesn't want to think about what he'll do if all his friends have gone missing.]
Can you tell me about... about our time at school together?
no subject
[It's got this deadpan tone that makes it obvious she's having a hard time believing it, but at the same time has no way to refute it when faced with "gods and monsters and cannibalism". So she just leaves it at that and moves on.]
Our time in school? Man, so they really erased that shit? Sure, as long as we keep moving.
[Meaning she's going to just start walking towards Vandare. Sorry, she just doesn't want to stand out here forever. But as long as Hajime follows, she talks.]
I mean...like I said, it's not like we'd spent a whole lot of time together. I'd just transferred into your class a little while ago. But out of all the other students you were the least boring to talk with. And plus, you weren't Sato.
[Fuck that bitch.]
But you were always staring out at the Main Course building, so I figured you and I were alike, y'know? Like...we both wanted to be there instead of in the Reserve Course is what I mean.
no subject
He's quiet to let her speak, though, not wanting to interrupt even the smallest detail of what it was like for him. Even if he already knows what he did, how it ended, he still...
Sato... it takes all his willpower not to wince. That's right, hadn't someone named Sato been the one to murder her with a swimsuit in the Twilight Syndrome case? But that didn't make any sense, since Mahiru, Hiyoko, and the rest had been there.
But he just nods, shoving his hands in his pockets while they walk.]
Kuzuryu told me a little about you. The way he talked about you, I don't know, I assumed you were Main Course already.
no subject
There's a laugh of amusement when he brings that up, Natsumi lifting her hand up to rub at her neck a little.]
Jeez, he talked about me? How embarrassing.
[No, actually, it was a great feeling. To think he actually talked to at least one other person about her.]
But...I don't know what he said, but I wasn't, nah. God I can't even imagine him talking about me like that. But it wasn't for a lack of trying that I was still in the Reserve course, you know. I just figured if I got into the Reserve Course, it'd be a lot easier to spot my talent rather than being surrounded by a bunch of useless kids. They have to scout through thousands and thousands of kids, right? So if I was already in the school system, they'd totally have an easier time finding me. I'd get accepted, no problem. I mean, hell, they let idiots like Koizumi in that school. Clearly they don't have a high bar for what kind of kids get in. If they saw how much of an amazing little sister I am, they'd let me in for sure.
[Fool proof plan.]
You were always that dumb voice of reason. "You'll get kicked out if you keep acting this way and picking fights," kinda stuff. A real pacifist. It's kind of funny thinking about you and oniichan as friends. I feel like you'd annoy him.
no subject
If she was still alive, I'd really like you guys to meet her.
His smile sours at the mention of Mahiru, though. Sure, he and Mahiru had had their differences when they were both here, he can't forget that, but she's still his classmate. Both of them are his classmates, apparently. Whew boy, hopefully Mahiru isn't. Here.
But he laughs at being called a pacifist, even more loudly at the idea of annoying Fuyuhiko.]
You say that like friends don't annoy each other, [he manages finally with a bright, dumb grin. It feels like forever since he's been able to laugh so openly. With lungs instead of weird smokey nonsense. Feels good, man.] But really... I'm really glad I get to meet you. Uh, again.
no subject
Yeah, but oniichan doesn't like dealing with annoying shit is what I mean. So if you can call him your best friend, you two must be pretty close.
[Trust her on that.]
Guess I'm glad you're glad. Can't really say I'm glad to meet you, all things considered, but...uh...
[Man, what does she say here?]
What I'm trying to say is I'm glad you're here. The only other two people I'd wanna see here too are Fuyuhiko and Peko-chan, so...lucky you, you're on that list.
no subject
[The smile he gives her is genuine, at least, even as he shoves his hands more deeply into his pockets.]
If we can find a laptop... I'll see if I can reach them. The laptops are junk and the keyboards stick, but it's the closest thing to the internet they have here.
I know your brother and Pekoyama would be really glad to see you, too.
no subject
[She smiles in return before shrugging and staring up at the sky as they walk.]
Poor Peko-chan always has to be in the middle of our fights, or deal with oniichan afterward when he's pissed off at me. And he just thinks I'm annoying. I'm sure they'll just see it as a headache waiting to happen.
[Does she know she's dead? Nope.]
Plus, if we're really turning into monsters, that'll probably piss them off too. That I'm gonna turn into one now. Even if he finds me annoying, he's really protective. So I think it'll just irritated 'em.
