TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!
SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.
SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
[2/2; she's just. Confused.]
You're still...?
[Well. This is awkward.
That answers it, at least, but. Isn't his manner too casual for an enemy? (Too casual, in general, she could say, but...!)]
So, are we... going to do battle or...? You're being terribly cordial given the circumstances.
[She's unarmed and not looking for a fight, but this is a surprise.]
I suppose without Pokemon and without castle and country to defend, there is no point?
Hold on. What are your circumstances? Perhaps those differ also...?
[1/2]
Lifting up his hand, he waves it slightly to dismiss the idea that he's doing anything to sully that purity. If anything, he is much more fascinated what shade of red her blood is -- if it has the scent of Nobunaga's. ]
I greatly apologize, but I have no interest in you as a lady. The one that I want is your brother. That is something that Oichi always understood about me, and so I share it with you.
[ He lowers his hand and shrugs. ]
And the attractiveness that I find in you is as a person because you're -- and she -- shares blood with Nobunaga-kou.
[2/2]
[ A small hum. That would make four-for-four universes. ]
Do battle? Pokemon? Are you -- are you from -- I don't know how to feel about the idea that we're from a world like that, if I am honest -- [ A world with those creatures, hm? He heard a bit about them from Shootie and others. His tail wags a little at the idea of commanding such creatures. But he would much rather kill with his own two hands. ]
My circumstances? I am at the moment playing the role of a tamed pet. I have no castle to defend... though, I suppose I could ask for Azuchi Castle to come here. Or I could ask for Honno-ji... [ More giggling. ]
But at the moment, at the moment, I have no reason to kill you. I am overjoyed to see someone from the Oda! Even if you are not my Nobunaga-kou's.

Yes... and no. [But returning to the topic of shared blood, she narrows her gaze, looking him in the eye, as if voicing a silent question, "Do you intend to spill mine?"
But before she could voice it, there is more to focus on.
She raises a brow in at the unfamiliar string of names:]
... Honno-ji?
[The names are different in her world, so she doesn't recognize it! She feels that he must expect her to, he's laughing as though it were a private joke... but she has no idea what he means.]
no subject
Hm?
A soft sound as he notes the way she is looking at him. His shoulders give another shrug at the look. ]
You don't know it? [ What would be the equivalent? Well, he doesn't know. His tail gives a little wag. ] Ah, well. Ah, well. In more than enough timelines, I have betrayed Nobunaga-kou. Or rather, in every timeline, I have betrayed him.
I wonder how you feel about that Oichi. He has, hasn't he, made life difficult for you? You must feel like you are free of him, right?
no subject
... he is the reason I cannot go back. To the homeland I miss. But, without him, I would not have met my lord...
[A somewhat lonely, conflicted look, then, she avoids his gaze.
No, there's something else Mitsuhide brought up earlier... she looks back up at him, with wide eyes:]
You said something about a "world like that"— do you mean there are, possibly, worlds that exist without Pokemon?!
[Dodging that topic like a bullet.]

Mitsuhide allows a bemused look to cross over his expression. He starts laughing soon after, turning away from Oichi. His laughter increases as he curls in on himself, the pain, from broken bones and ruptured organs wreck havoc when he breaks into a laughing fit.
Black blood pours of his mouth with a flood of drool. His head snaps backwards as he laughs even louder. Abruptly, it stops and he sways side to side, quiet. ]
Of course, Nobunaga-kou would do things that way. In that way, even if he loses, he wins. Even if he dies, Mitsuhide is still doing what he is told to do. He is still being but a puppet on a string by Nobunaga-kou's will and design.
[ Ah, he breathes in carefully. His entire body shudders as he spits out more black. ]
You are probably better with Nagamasa-dono. For however long you have with him, anyway.
[ A smile with lips wet with blood and drool. ]
I asked a question but I said something rude just now so I will call it even. Yes, even. Anyway, there are many worlds without Pokémon.

That laughter is still ringing in her ears long after it ends in reality, but when he curls into himself, she rushes to his side.
She reaches out as if to stabilize him, this man is quite literally falling apart! The blood is pouring, she can hear bones snapping, what... what is he...?!]
Please stop! Don't laugh anymore...! Your body...
[She genuinely sounds concerned for his sake, but she has nothing on her, she can't treat anyone like this. Can she even treat him? His body and that black blood, it all looks long dead.
She looks at him sadly.]
... why do you laugh at suffering? Even your own?
[He sounds so bitter...
She tears away part of her kimono (it's alright, it was— before being shortened for ease of movement— a junihitoe, so losing even a few layers shouldn't expose her!), ripping them into strips, and starts fashioning bandages out of them.]
... is this one of them? Instead of Pokemon, what do humans share their world with?
And what are you? Have you always been this? Or have you transformed into this form...?
no subject
The person that willingly embraced him back home was Kingo. Kingo would rush to cling onto him for safety. He looks away, making another huffing sound. ]
My body is my body. [ And adds a giggle, like an afterthought. ] Too long an explanation to get into why I laugh. But let's just go with, for now, I laugh because I feel like laughing.
Instead of Pokémon, humans have other creatures. Cows, horses, cats, dogs... none with fantastical abilities of fire, ice, or lightning... you will understand when you see them.
[ A pained sigh. ] And, and... you transform, too. You will, too. Not into what I am, no. I cannot say you will join me as a wendigo but I can say that once you come here... a transformation awaits you!
no subject
Can I please help you?
And do humans bond with these creatures? Are new powers born with them too?
If I had my Pokemon partner here, I can be stronger than this. You'd be restored! ... perhaps. Hopefully?
Ah... I don't really know, actually, I've never had to— a wendigo?
What's a wendigo?
I must transform too? Is it like an evolution? Does it make you stronger? You certainly look to be able to bear things no human being can...
—ah! Am I asking too many questions? Forgive me!
[She bows apologetically, a few times, looking quite flustered.]
Sometimes, I get carried away, but there's really so much about this that I still don't understand and...
Can I ask one more question too? You don't have to answer the rest if you answer just this one, um... why did you say that about Nagamasa-dono? You made our time sound— short.
[Maybe asking was a bad idea, this might only apply to his world, and any way, isn't it just bad luck to ask about this sort of thing...?]
