TEST DRIVE MEME: MARCH

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[That's good because he wasn't sure where he could have gotten her soda immediately...this place isn't quite as advanced as home.]

I think that can be arranged. You say your name is Ibuki, correct?

[He recognizes her...she's back for a third time, and now it seems like she's forgotten him again. Karamatsu knows better than to immediately pull the "I know you from the past" card, so he won't.]

Yup yup! Mioda Ibuki is my name, don't wear it out!
Do you think you can actually wear out someone's name? That'd be mega weird, right?

[Just... flows right on into that. Have fun keeping up.]

Oh, but what's your name? Are you some kind of roleplayer? I don't think I've ever seen someone make fake arms so realistic!
Ibuki's seen a lot of weird people running around in costume before, though, so she thinks it's cool you're brave enough to do it, too!

[Is that a compliment or an insult... either way, at least she seems happy to talk to him.

Eh? Roleplay?

[Right...she hasn't been here long, has she?

Karamatsu shakes his head a little, his antennae waving absently in the air while he talks.]

Non non. My name is Matsuno Karamatsu, but you may call me Karamatsu.

[Please do not call him Matsuno-san, that's weird.]

And uh...this is not a costume. It is real.

[He lifts all four arms, wiggling the fingers for emphasis.]

[Don't worry, she won't call him Matsuno-san!]

Alright, Karamatsu-chan!
But uh, what do you mean it's... real?
Last time Ibuki checked, bug people aren't real!

Giant robots and talking toys, maybe, but definitely not bug people.
Unless this is a dream? Is Ibuki dreaming right now?

[She's gotta look at her hands after asking that, as if they'll reveal that this has been a dream the entire time.
After all, it makes sense! She fell asleep on an island - or, rather, died? - so why wouldn't her dream be on a beach?]

[Karamatsu visibly jolts. He knows Ibuki- or at least he thinks he does- but that still catches him off guard.

Karamatsu-chan...

Karamatsu shakes his head a little. This is reminiscent of when Todomatsu didn't believe everything was real...]

Well, if it weren't real, could I do this?

[Karamatsu lifts his wings as he says that, turning his antennae this way and that independent of one another.]

[Reminiscent it may be, but this is where the similarities will end - because the instant he starts to move his antennae, her eyes widen, and...
She reaches up to touch them.]

Hwaaah! They're so... squirmy!
Are these really real!? Really, really, really real!?

Ibuki's never seen anything like this! Outside of horror films, anyway!!
It's like The Fly rolled around in a swimming pool full of glitter!!

[SHE'S FREAKING OUT]

A-ah-!

[Karamatsu's antennae twitch back out of reflex, and he smiles weakly.]

Careful, they are sensitive...but they are really real.

[...]

...The Fly?

Yeah! The Fly!! It was a super famous, old American horror flick about a science project gone wrong - some old scientist makes a set of teleporters and tries'em out on himself, only for a fly to be in the pod with him!
He turns the machine on, and BLAM! He starts turning into a half fly, half man, all messed up mutant!

It's super creepy and absolutely disgusting! Not as great as a screamer or a gore-fest, but a classic! Ibuki gives it eight out of ten stars!

[This, of course, is all rambled off as she bounces a bit - even moving around Karamatsu to ohh and ahh at his carapace and wings, any trace of panic gone from her features.
Because, y'know. Karamatsu's the opposite of scary.]

[If he's honest, he's glad Ibuki isn't afraid of him. That's the one thing he really hates about being a monster, having people fearful of him when he wouldn't hurt a fly (hah). But she seems more excited and intrigued, and...having her be all admiring of him while comparing him to a creepy, disgusting character is...it's giving him a mixed impression.

He watches as she walks around, keeping his wings spread just to show them off. He forgets briefly about the teeth set into his back, but if the mouth doesn't open maybe she won't notice. He isn't hungry right now, anyway.]

W-well I can assure you I am far more fabulous than some fly-man!

[Sorry if you hoped she wouldn't notice the actual teeth jutting out of your back, Karamatsu.
Those are kind of hard to not see.]

She's definitely going to poke one.]

Why do you have a skull on your back?? Are you one of those skull-moths??
This is so wicked! Ibuki's never seen one of those moths in person, and now she's meeting one that can walk and talk!!

Uhhh...skull moth? I suppose that is what it is called...

[Death's Head Moth is what he's looking for, but yes. He aims to turn himself around so as not to draw any more attention to it, and of course right then a yawn happens to catch him off guard from the wrong end.

The teeth shift and then split his back open, stretching wide right before Ibuki's eyes.]

HWOAAAAAAH!?

[Well. If Ibuki wasn't infinitely interested in The Mangler before, there's no way she wouldn't be interested now.
Which means she's grabbing a handful of his fur on either side of that wide mouth, so she can see into it better - no apologies or warnings, of course.
Just doing it.]

What - I thought - is this a real mouth!?
Ibuki thought those were just weird bones or something, but they're teeth!! You have a mouth back here!!
There's about two seconds from a full on panic, over here - this is the most metal thing that has ever happened to Ibuki! Other than that time she wandered onto a set of train tracks and almost got ran over, anyway!!

Can Ibuki put something in it!? Can I!?

What? It- I-?!

[Karamatsu had been knocked into a half bowing position thanks to the huge yawn, and it pretty much gives him away in an instant. He scrabbles and reaches back to grip his own shoulders, as if the pressure would be enough to cause the mouth to close. But it doesn't...it just hangs open while Ibuki yells about it, nothing but a gaping void of darkness that probably leads into his stomach somehow.]

No!

[He doesn't want to be tasting wood-chips for the next couple days, not to mention whatever else has been shoved into it before.]

I mean...y-you probably shouldn't.

Awwww, but Karamatsufly-chan - look at it!! It's basically begging for something to get stuffed in its gaping maw!!

[That there is some real and true disappointment. It's all up in her voice and everything.]

C'mon, c'mon - Ibuki can go find some foodstuffs to put in it! She was just gonna grab a stick originally, but it's okay if I have to find a crab or a lobster or a cat!!

[... One of those things aren't like the others.]

[Oh my god if you actually put a cat in him he might cry.]

If you put something in that is not food it is liable to make me sick...it is still my mouth, you know.

[Karamatsu knows that it can eat just fine, he's learned the hard way. But anything else goes in one end and...comes out one of the others, usually in a painful and unpleasant way.

He sighs and moves to force himself to stand, the mouth clamping shut with a hard clacking of teeth as he rummages around in his jacket pockets before holding out his hand to Ibuki. There are a few wrapped pieces of hard candy.]
