TEST DRIVE MEME: MARCH

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[Having a young man back himself right into her lap is definitely not what Susannah intended to happen today. This is definitely awkward.]

You're laying it on a bit thick, aren't you? [she says in a low voice, before raising it at the girls.] And you-- haven't you made enough fools of yourself already today?

[Whoops! So concerned with the ladies who'd cornered him, Bert isn't paying attention to behind him. Now this is an embarrassing spot to find himself in! And an entirely new one, which in itself makes it noteworthy. There's a surprising number of brand new situations a fellow can find himself in, after dying!]

[Is there a smooth way to extricate oneself from this? He doesn't think so, but damn does he try!]

Laid it on so thick I couldn't e'en see! But in my defense, my da always taught me to let a lady down gentle-like!

[Just excuse him while he picks himself up and puts the lady on wheels between himself and the natives already losing interest.]

[There's a surprising number of people who talk like Roland that she's run into ~~on this test drive~~ today.]

There's gentle and there's actually encouraging them.

[But they seem to be moving away, so that's good.]

I'm gonna guess you're new in these parts too?

They didn't need any encouragement! Anyhow, best to stay on their good side, for when the time comes. I'd rather they think of me as a charming and friendly fellow, than sommat that'd make a nice winter cloak.

[Or any other thing that might be made out of a critter. No one's warned him that that sort of thing happens, but he's sure it does. Monsters make impressive trophies.]

That I am, sai. Fresh off the barren beach and still learning the ways of this place.

[Beyond all the monster bits. He's had more then enough rundowns on that. As she said she was also a newcomer, he doubts he needs hear it again. There's only so many times a fellow can be emphatically warned about turning into a monster.]

[He offers the lady a smile and a small flourished bow.]

Cuthbert Allgood, at your service!

[Well. That was a name she certainly didn't expect to hear.]

Cuthbert Allgood? Roland's Cuthbert?

[He ought to be dead. Roland said he was dead. And if he wasn't, then he ought to be just as old and grizzled as Roland, seeing as they were of an age. This Cuthbert couldn't be much older than Eddie, if that...

Somehow she manages to recover and greet him in kind.]

Susannah Dean, daughter of Dan. Pleased to meet you, Sai Allgood. I've heard a lot of you from Roland.

[Her accent is nothing like that of Gilead, but she speaks as someone who at least knows a little of their customs.]
