TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME: JANUARY

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

taedofthisshit: (what are you telling me?)

[There's only a roll of her eyes when she hears that, but she doesn't feel the need to comment, especially when the man wipes his own grin off his face. She nods.]

Keh... I'm an old woman, but I'll be able to keep up if you can... And I'm Ms. Tae to you. [Everyone calls her Tae-san since she rarely goes by her surname. She keeps walking, head focused on their destination, but she does observe him cautiously from the corner of her eye.]

... You don't look like you're from Midorijima

[That works out just fine, because Rhys has too much respect for his elders to settle on something overly familiar unless invited. So he just gives a nod.]

I'm from Boston. The United States. So I think I'm pretty far from home, too.

[He stays a little to her side, close enough to be helpful without crowding or looming, and his stride is easy, though he's watchful.]

And I'm just a bartender, so that makes this even more confusing. [He rubs one heavily tattooed arm idly. Okay, not just a bartender, but he mostly minded his own business and stayed out of trouble. Nothing that would explain this.]
taedofthisshit: (actually sick of ur shit)

... Hmph. So I'm with a foreigner and well away from Japan. That just raises many more questions. [Mostly because with the borders closed around the island, she hasn't seen anyone new in many years. All the faces she's seen in the city over the last decade or so were familiar to her, one way or another.

She appreciates the company, even if she doesn't seem like it. Her sharp eyes look underneath her heavy bags, surveying the empty beach. It's been a while since she's seen the beach, but she hasn't seen one as rugged as this one in a very, very long time.]

I have a few ideas why I'd be taken from my home, but not without being taken out as well. [If not dead then she would be taken hostage at the Oval Tower, not abandoned here. Though the thought does make her check her wrist and then pockets. She frowns.] Hmph. My coil isn't here either. I can't contact anyone.

At least we're speaking the same language. That could have been awkward, since I don't know how your English is, but I don't speak Japanese. [Something to note about this place. He can't feel his tattoos or his powers, and it's disorienting enough as it is...it makes him wonder if maybe he's fallen into a Dreaming? Or worse...through the Ghostwall...

But he very much gets the impression that as disgruntled as she seems with his company, she'd make it very clear if she wanted him to leave.]

Sorry, coil? [He shoots her an inquisitive look.] Everything I had in my pockets is gone, but if I didn't lose it, the water would have ruined it anyway. [Cell phones don't tend to swim well.]

taedofthisshit: (what's this now?)

[personal profile] taedofthisshit 2017-01-26 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
... I don't know English.

[And this is where she looks very, very confused. At first she wonders if he's playing tricks on her, but she finds that if she focuses she can just... tell what he's saying. She stops in her tracks and frowns. The closest thing she can think of is that she's somehow been brought into Rhyme but then she doesn't have an All-mate to translate or actually play the damn game.]

... A coil is like a device you wear on your wrist. You use it for email, calling people and getting information from the internet. [Like a smartphone basically.] Though I doubt I can get a signal from out here anyway.

[They can both be confused, then, because this place is making even less sense now. But Rhys nods in understanding at her description.]

Ahh. Okay. Yeah. My cell phone does the same thing, but it's gone too. [He pauses, looking a little uncomfortable.] ...so are my powers. I thought it was shock, but I think it's something about this place. I feel like I've gone numb.

[He scans the beach, then slows his stride at patches of heavily disturbed sand ahead. They aren't the only ones who've been here, and it looks like something bigger has put up a recent fuss.]
taedofthisshit: (tea and donuts)

[personal profile] taedofthisshit 2017-01-29 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[Without any technology around, there was no reason to be able to speak the same language. Tae grumbles a little as the nonsense keeps building up and lifts her skirts a little, trying to follow the man's lead]

Cell phone. Haven't seen one of those in a while. [It's such old technology that one was hard pressed to find those anymore. However, what really gets her interest is the mention of powers, because as far as she was aware of, superhumans and special powers were extremely rare and only few knew of those people. She says nothing about the strangeness however, not wanting to draw attention to it, in case this man was somehow trying to trick her.] Any chance of getting them back and helping us?

[She frowns as she sees the sand and looks to see where they lead to. Someone's been here and been gone.] Must be a few more in our boat. Keh...
