TEST DRIVE MEME: JANUARY

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

_{[ what the ever-loving fuck. How does he even remember the Yorozuya? Gintoki's brows lift for a moment. Ugh, this is complicated, but not anything he can't deal with. He'll move on. He doesn't like to think of the fact he's separated from Kagura and Shinpachi right now. ]}

Yeah. Me, myself and I. That's how it's _{[ a beat ]} kind-of-always-been... for awhile.
_{[ ok.. no.. TOTAL LIE. It was always that way until he came to Edo. ]}

I can already tell this is gonna be a pain in the ass. Do they all look like crazy Satan like you or should I expect G*dzilla?

[Jyushimatsu stops moving, considering how he should explain things to this man]

I'm the only demon! My brothers are different things. Like, Choromatsu-niisan is a werebear, and Todomatsu and Karamatsu are faeries! No one is G*dzilla!

_{[ Right. Choromatsu and Todomatsu. Those were their names. Gintoki wasn't a die-hard fan of their vintage series, but he could appreciate their classic kind of comedy. Jyushimatsu is too erratic for somebody like Gintoki when he's a soldier, nervous from any person's sudden movement. That was a long time ago, sure, but old habits still rise within him and what not.

And so, Gintoki keeps his distance. You can.. be over there, weird crazy athlete Satan. ]}

So.. all that bullcrap in the pamphlets, it's not joke, eh? What would Akatsuka-sensei think of this, huh?

[gasp! Gintoki was totally going There. this was fourth walling to the max! Jyushimatsu is fired up!]

He'd probably laugh! But, really, it's not a joke! We turn into monsters! And it hurts!

This is troublesome— everything about what's happening, it sounds like a big pain in the ass.

You think he would laugh? I don't think so. This isn't very showa era of you, you know. Sure, his crap has always been pretty freaking weird, but honestly, I don't think I can really argue.
You say it hurts? This isn't the kind of comedy where it's slap-stick, and it's funny.

Seems kinda dark to me. I don't think he would laugh. He's probably rolling in his grave about now. You still find ways to maintain your comedy gold? Y'know, to make'm proud still?

Sometimes, but... It's really not funny! [should Jyushimatsu talk about the blob story? or how monsters have to eat humans? that's not funny at all] If you can, you should probably leave this place!

_{[ He's quiet for a moment, and rubs at the slope of his neck before beginning to move from the pinball machine. ]}

Trust me. If I knew how, I'd go back to where I'm supposed to be.
Now isn't really the time for this.. whatever.. this is.

_{[ He knows he's trapped here, but that doesn't mean he won't at least try and find a way back home. ]}

[WHATEVER THIS IS. Jyushimatsu nods and flaps his wings, lifting off the ground]

I don't know how to get back home either! But I'll keep looking!

Ah... [those funny people that live around them. like Iyami, and Chibita, and Dekapan and Dayon... and Totoko-chan. and their parents. do they all miss the sextuplets? Jyushimatsu wonders]

We'll get back home to them! But first, we gotta turn back into our normal selves!

I dunno. Do you think they'd really notice a difference with you? I mean, the best I remember, you guys have a reputation for being little demons, right?

[were Jyushimatsu anyone but Jyushimatsu, he might meet Gin's question with a flat stare. as it is, Jyushimatsu just laughs]

...I guess.

[he flaps his wings again, taking to the air. who thought giving Jyushimatsu wings was a good idea?] I gotta get to work! Be careful, okay?

_{[ yeah you just.. you just do that and fly. Gintoki had dealt with weirder people, but god. What happened to Jyushimatsu to make him like this? The demon thing, yeah, but the.. weirdness. Gintoki doesn't remember Jyushimatsu acting like this as a kid.. but then again, Gintoki couldn't keep them all straight anyway. ]}

Uh, right. Nice to see you've got your own personality now.
And a job. Those are good qualifications for dating material, y'know.
