TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME: JANUARY

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[That catches her ear.]

No... This definitely isn't a Fennekin. The color of the fur is all wrong, too.
tripurragent: (O-Oh...nevermind...)

[personal profile] tripurragent 2017-01-14 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
No...I know that. [She sighs.] I don't think any pokemon are here actually-just things that look a little like them. They're not really smart compared to them either.

[Blunt, but honestly they can't exactly know enough to defend themselves so... ...Accurate.]
walkonaether: (4)

[personal profile] walkonaether 2017-01-14 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
That just means they need more love and care. [Child, let her tell you about the ways of loving Pokemon.]
tripurragent: (Hmrmmm)

[personal profile] tripurragent 2017-01-14 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
...The fact that they aren't smart?

[Madam, you've lost her.] ...I don't know... ...it feels like there's a big difference between this and Pokemon...we could even build houses after all.

[It's difficult to imagine something that drags its bum across the sidewalk as being capable of that. It might be insulting, but still.]
walkonaether: (8)

[personal profile] walkonaether 2017-01-14 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
That's where you're wrong. They're intelligent but in different ways. [Wait. Hold on--] Well, yes, Pokemon can do those things but with proper training.
tripurragent: (why YOU!)

1/2

[personal profile] tripurragent 2017-01-14 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
[The child looks insulted, if anything.] We can do plenty without training, thank you!
tripurragent: (FrownFrown)

[personal profile] tripurragent 2017-01-14 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
...Ah...

[Or at least, for a moment. Humans...sort of existed where she came from after all. Just...differently. Different enough that perhaps there is something to all of that.

Or, well, maybe this person just happened to be human to start with. She probably was. Definitely was, really. She never DID ask Fennekin what the human world was like, after all (Did she even remember that stuff?)
] ...Are pokemon that live in the human world really that...different, miss?

[personal profile] walkonaether 2017-01-14 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Lusamine just stares at her. What... what is she talking about?]

Ah... I didn't say that Pokemon couldn't. There are many genuinely wonderful and amazing things that we can't even begin to explain about them. They simply aren't human, though. They don't build houses like humans do. They can build shelters or even grow their own--there's even types that weave clothes!

Yet, they can't build human houses without proper guidance and training.

[She snaps her fingers and the dog comes to a stop at her side and she puts a gentle hand on it.] Love and guidance is what all creatures need.
tripurragent: (O-Oh...nevermind...)

[personal profile] tripurragent 2017-01-14 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Well of course they wouldn't be 'human' homes, we aren't human... [This is going to be rather difficult isn't it.] ...I mean, my house looked sort of like the houses I've seen here, but the beds are all different, and the tables are bigger...

[Hmmm. With what Lusamine has been saying however, it sounds a little like...] ...the ones humans know sound more like the ones we all descended from honestly... ...Ancient Pokemon, and similar...

[Another sad fact learned, it seems. Well. She stoops a bit to watch the connection between human and dog, staring curiously.] ...I guess with these things it becomes important then, if they can't really do anything on their own...

[Again, sort of insulting but.

It drags its butt across sidewalks, after all.

[The poor thing. The poor thing.]

I think you must be seriously confused.
tripurragent: (Hmrmmm)

[personal profile] tripurragent 2017-01-16 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
[So very very confused, though not at all about what Lusamine thinks. They're probably going to miss each other by a long shot for a while.] Definitely. ...With how much Fennekin insisted they were human once, I wouldn't have thought the two worlds this different...

...but I guess she just didn't remember those sorts of details... [She cautiously holds a hand out for the dog to sniff, letting it do so. In any case, maybe Fennekin was a pokemon she grew up with? Probably.]
walkonaether: (8)

[personal profile] walkonaether 2017-01-18 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
...I don't understand a word of what you're saying.

[So much confusion.]

You can probably imagine how I feel here then.
ate though. She claimed to have been hum
[no stop you'll hurt her head-]

Fennekin was my classmate though... She claimed to be human before.

Humans can't transform into Pokemon.

[That's ridiculous.]
tripurragent: (O-Oh...nevermind...)

[personal profile] tripurragent 2017-01-19 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Well that's what we thought too! No one in class believed her at the time!

Apparently that's exactly what happened though...we never did find out how.

I wonder if Pikachu would have known... [she wonders aloud, crossing her arms.] ...Those two were very close...

[This is getting awfully off topic, and even worse on the head.]
walkonaether: (8)

[personal profile] walkonaether 2017-01-19 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Ahem.]

I think you're must be mistaken.
tripurragent: (Hmrmmm)

[personal profile] tripurragent 2017-01-19 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
...Well, whether she was telling the truth or not, I can't really prove it either way right now.

[Wrong 'mistaken', Espurr.]
walkonaether: (4)

[personal profile] walkonaether 2017-01-21 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Humans can't turn into Pokemon. That's ridiculous.
tripurragent: (Hmrmmm)

[personal profile] tripurragent 2017-01-21 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, or maybe the 'right' mistaken, then. Once more, Espurr shrugs.] Well...it's like I said, none of us could prove it after all...

Honestly until coming here I didn't even know what humans looked like...we didn't have any pictures or drawings of those.
walkonaether: (4)

[personal profile] walkonaether 2017-01-21 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
...

[ . . . ]

Are you alright?
tripurragent: (st a r e)

[personal profile] tripurragent 2017-01-21 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
[..............Eh?] ....Of course!

...I mean. ...It's confusing, all of this, and I'm not used to people that don't know what I'm talking about...

...But I'm fine, honestly, [She decides, nodding.] I'm used to living on my own already.
walkonaether: (8)

[personal profile] walkonaether 2017-01-22 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
Ah...that's not what I mean.
tripurragent: (st a r e)

[personal profile] tripurragent 2017-01-22 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[It wasn't?

Well, she almost looks a bit surprised to hear that. Almost.

It's been tricky to figure out how to keep from letting her emotions spill everywhere, but she's pretty sure she's got a handle on it.
] ...Just what are you talking about then? I was pretty sure that made the most sense given the context...
