Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note: The State of the Game Discussion produced a lot of great suggestions and we now have a post for Plot Suggestions and Monster Questions. The NETWORK VOTE results are in and PRIVATE MESSAGING will be added some time in November. Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look. You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely. Reserve and application dates have been announced. Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample! Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[ mami can't help but smile, albeit just barely, at the look on his face when he responds to kyoko's description. her brows furrow at the harsh description that follows, but at least she's showing emotion beyond "dazed and confused now". she nods at his prompting, ready to follow. ]

Mm, that'd make sense...unless they've already gone off on their own, too...an d knowing them, they might've.

[ either way, she takes a step in that direction, grateful for the company. having another living breathing speaking being around works pretty well to pull one reality-wards. ]

They're not good at teamwork?

[It's not like his training squad had been to start though. Thinking back to the competitiveness of him and Jean and how they'd had so many arguments about Jean's lack of willpower to actually make a difference was one thing... but then there was also picking on Sasha, Annie wandering off on her own, Reiner and Bertolt kept to themselves too a bit--no one was hugely into teamwork.]

Ah, no, they are. Wonderfully so. I meant away from the hospital, but together.

[ mami'd like to think she'd taught them teamwork well, at least. for all she knows, they could act much, much differently under these circumstances, but she can hope her teachings carried over. ]

They should be relatively easy to find, if they are here.

Ah. It depends on how much time the doctors take as well, I guess. Most people are done quickly enough though.

[At least that's what he saw while there. Some left way too early and some loitered too, but generally... it was pretty decently paced.]

It might be harder to find them elsewhere, but it shouldn't be impossible if there's a group of them.

[And at least if they're searching he can look for the people he knows too.]

[ she nods, and then something occurs to her -- the lateness of the realization makes her ashamed of how selfish she's been. ]

...did you just get here, too? Is there someone you need to look for?

[Ah. Well, he had but he's already spent a bit of time looking.]

About an hour ago I think? I looked around a bit but haven't found anyone so far so it's fine.

Only an hour?

[ her eyes widen a fraction. ]

You're...very composed for having such a small amount of time to acclimate.

[Eren blinks right back at her, but... really he isn't okay with this, there's just only so much he can do at the moment. He'd be freaking out a lot more if he didn't know it was necessary he kept quiet for the duration of his stay -- at least until he knew it was safe.]

I'm not okay with any of this, but I already looked as much as I could in this area. I might just have to wait for someone to find me instead.

Mm...you don't have to be okay with it in order to be handling it better.

[ she half-smiles, a little morose. ]

If there's a lot of us in this same situation, maybe there's some sort of ... not "missing persons" board, but...the like.

[ now that her clarity is more or less back, she's trying to be as helpful as she can rather than dead weight. ]

So somewhere we can go that has information about other people here?

[That's going to lead them somewhere shady...]

I don't remember seeing anything like that, but I was looking for people not places.

[ mami nods again. surely, if this is a reoccurring situation, someone would have done something like this. ]

Right. I have...no idea where we'd start looking for something like that, though.

[It would make sense, especially if there's a bunch of people in this situation.] Usually in the centre, of close to a town hall.

[Though he's only 60% certain what direction that is.]

You can lead the way if you'd like. You're more likely to know than I am.

[ ...and if he doesn't, well, they can just wander? it's safer to be with someone else, she figures. ]

Sure. [He doesn't really, but he can make guesses on the layout of the town. This place is probably closer to what he's used to than she is, being stuck in the past as it is.]

What will you do if you can't find them? [This question takes a few minutes for him to ask, knowing how she's probably still a little out of it. Coming back from death can't be easy -- he thinks of her friends and family if they're here too. What will they do?]

[ that's...definitely a possibility. mami's not sure if she'd rather the others be here, or "safe" at home. both situations have their downsides, certainly, it's just a matter of deciding what's worse...which she doesn't quite have the mind for right now.

she shakes her head. ]

Likely the same thing I'd do if they were here, except only for myself. Find somewhere to stay, get the rest of everything sorted...look for them again, periodically. If they're not here now that doesn't negate future possibilities, right?

Yeah. We don't know how big this place is. [He's a survivor by nature, too stubborn to let himself fall. Even if he ended up on the streets he'd get by. Not everyone is like that though, and given her mental state at the moment, it doesn't seem like a good idea to leave her be just yet.]

Or if there's any kind of help to find other people.

What have you seen so far, from how long you've been here?

[ god, she's full of questions. she feels a little guilty for relentlessly asking this poor stranger all of them, one who's already been kind, but how else is she supposed to get her bearings? ]

Not much. This place is pretty similar to home, actually. There's some small shops for food and an inn here or there if we need somewhere to stay -- but I doubt either of us has a way to pay for it yet.

[Which meant that unless he found someone that day he'd probably just sleep ... on the street...]

Ah, it's like where you're from? I'm used to...mm, very big cities.

[ she shakes her head in response to that last bit. ]

I've got absolutely nothing.

[ which means she'll probably be doing the same! cool. ]

We don't really have the space for cities, but I guess the inner walls would be called that. It's where the King is, anyway.

[He looks up towards the sky, then back at Mami with a faint smile.] We'll work something out. [And hey, even if he has to do an odd job to get at least her a night in an inn, he will do.]

Thank you. I'm sure I've already said that a hundred times over, but I do mean it.

[ she manages a smile back, despite how out of it she still feels, how nervous and...dare she say it, kind of scared. she'll repay him for this, she's sure, she's just not sure how, yet. ]
