Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note: The State of the Game Discussion produced a lot of great suggestions and we now have a post for Plot Suggestions and Monster Questions. You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely. Reserve and application dates have been announced. Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample! Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

Hey, I don't know. All of that stuff sounds pretty cool, if you ask me. [ Not that she did ask him, but that's beside the point. ]

Yeah, one minute it sounds like it's coming from one direction, and then the next minute, it's coming from somewhere else. It's freaking annoying is what it is. [ Yosuke rubs the back of his head irritably. ] You wouldn't happen to know a way out of this place, would you?

All things aside, I mean yeah-- it's pretty cool. Sort of miss wearing shoes, but what can you do when you got claws instead of toenails. [ lots of thinking about this, no lie. ]

Tell me about it but... a way out? I was gonna ask you the same thing! [ there's no point in telling him that she got lost looking for food. ] Before I started trying to find what the giggling was about, I tried retracing my steps but I just ended up more lost than I was before.

[ He's a little confused as to when exactly his life went from seeing a friend off at the train station to chatting up a girl who is half-human, half... something in the middle of an apparently haunted forest. True, he's a sucker for adventure, but this is a little much. ]

C'mon, you don't have super monster senses or anything like that? You know, to follow the "scent of civilization" or something? [ Everything Yosuke knows about monsters he's learned from TV... in more ways than one. ]

Dude. I am most definitely turning into a bear, thank you. I'm not some run of the mill "monster" here! [ did you have to us the 'm' word, seriously. she's been really trying to avoid it. ] Besides... my nose is what got me into this situation in the first place.

All I can really smell is something that's making me really hungry and to be honest, that won't help us find our way out.

Okay, okay, sheesh-- wait, you can really smell food in here? [ All Yosuke can smell is dirt, damp air, and some other intermingling, unidentifiable scents. He's actually pretty okay with that, given that he's already famished. The last meal he had was earlier in the morning, and by this point that feels like ages ago.

When she mentions finding a way out, he suddenly snaps to business, now spurred on by the new promise of finding something to eat. ]

All right. Let's think about this, then. If you can smell food, it must be coming from somewhere, right?

[ Of course he doesn't consider the fact that what she's smelling might not be "food" in the way that he knows it... ]
