TEST DRIVE MEME

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note: The State of the Game Discussion produced a lot of great suggestions and we now have a post for Plot Suggestions and Monster Questions. The NETWORK VOTE results are in and PRIVATE MESSAGING will be added some time in November. Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look. You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely. Reserve and application dates have been announced. Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample! Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

Ya don' understand...

[ She crouches behind some bushes, not venturing back out into the clearing but not leaving either. Her voice is a husky whisper. Her great yellow eyes watch him. ]

'm so hungry... I can't bear it. I... I want ta eat you...

[ Revulsion takes over and she heaves into the bushes. But there's nothing in her stomach. She can't even vomit. ] Oh God...

[He's trying so hard not to laugh when she says "bear it", he really is. Someone should get him something for this amazing self control. Like a snack. ...For her. Because let's face it, Teddie doesn't want to get eaten.]

W-Wait, don't cry, um... Oh! How about instead of eating me, we find something else for you to eat? There's all sorts of things in a forest that I bet are waaaaay tastier. I can help!

[He holds up his paws again. Look? See! Helping tools.]

Just...please.

Ya... ya smell good.

[ But he seems undeniably good in ways beyond how he might taste. Or maybe she's just desperate.

She crawls hesitantly out of the foliage. It's taking all of her self-control to keep from lunging at him. It helps if she focuses on her own miserable state -- grass and dirt everywhere, hurting from more places than she thought existed in her body. Her head is still really heavy. Stupid antlers.

In the moonlight, the mane on her neck and the fur on her skin are more visible. She's undeniably changed, but they seem to have slowed down. Something about his presence helps. She crouches, smaller than him, still staring. Curious about him in more ways than just how he tastes. ]

I know, I take bear-y good care of myself.

[Although not technically a lie, it probably wasn't appropriate to brag about his good grooming habits. As Teddie watches her come out on her own, he can't help but smile. Not at the sight of her, that was horrifying, but the progress gave him a spark of hope. Maybe he could help this girl, maybe they can help each other.]

Seeeeee? I'm nice. I don't got a mean bone in my body.

[He holds up his paws playfully. Look, see! He has these giant weapons for hands and doesn't even use them.]

How about we get you some late late dinner.

Tha's what I'm afraid of.

[ She'll hurt him. He's got the patience of a saint to deal with a monster like her. Even if he is a big, hulking bear.

She bites down on her own arm. Some of her blood flows into her mouth and she licks at it. Hoping that'll sate her long enough. ]

H-Hey, no! Don't do that!

[He gets up, arms half raised like he's ready to grab her, but he stops himself. What did he get himself into, this is terrible...]

I-I meant we can find, I dunno, an animal? Fish! You ever fish bearfore?

[Sushi was just raw fish, therefore it'd be okay to just eat what they catch. ...He thinks.]

[ Her head snaps up. ] Yeah. [ An alternative. Excellent. ]

Where's a river... [ She lifts her head and sniffs, but it's her pointed ears that catch it first -- the sound of running water, some dozens of yards off. With a leap, she's bounding off in the direction of the water, her body transforming even more as her face, torso, and legs change entirely into a deer's. This will be a short trip. ]

GAH!! Wait for me!!

[Man, she moves fast. Teddie isn't as lucky in that department, he's bulky and heavy and it feels like he's carrying a hundred backpacks with each step. He'll have to catch up, not that it'll be difficult. He can track both her scent and the river, his nose just that powerful now.]

[ Kyouko's startled by her own transformation, which seemed natural, not nearly as painful as the initial one. Instead of being a strange amalgamation of human and animal like she was before, now Kyouko was entirely a wild animal. The sense of movement on four hooves feels familiar as instincts took over. The hunger dulls somewhat as she ran through the forest.

Eventually, she finds the stream. Dipping her head, she drinks to attempt (once again, unsuccessfully) to sate her hunger. ]
