TEST DRIVE MEME

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note: The State of the Game Discussion produced a lot of great suggestions and we now have a post for Plot Suggestions and Monster Questions. The NETWORK VOTE results are in and PRIVATE MESSAGING will be added some time in November. Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look. You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely. Reserve and application dates have been announced. Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample! Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

Jeager, you don't even know how to joke.

[ Keeping an eye over Eren, getting separated right now would be really bad. Jean's never going to admit this horrible fear he's feeling right now-- not till he's forced. This wasn't a game, this was serious, being the bigger man was just Jean's way of keeping sane during all this chaos. This shitty relationship he and Eren shared at heart was ironic... Jean doesn't hate him, not really, but he does want something better for Eren and being a childish asshole isn't part of it.

This 'horseface' will just have to show his rival how much better and mature everyone else is, yeah! ] Yeah? They sell more than bread, Eren. Wherever we are, it isn't home... Once I get us out of here you're going to eat those words.

[ The longer they stay, the future lost they become. Jean's little plan of walking straight and casually marking landmarks doesn't work when the forest is working against you. The laughter only seems to be growing at well... closer and closer- ] S-shit... [ A hiss under his breath... how much longer could Jean play pretend? ]

[he's totally a pro firewood collector, he's the boss.] I'm perfectly fine at jokes! And we'll see who'll be eating what when we get out of this damn forest.

[If we get out of this forest, a small voice from the back of his mind whispers.

But for what it's worth, Eren lets the walk pass in silence. He's taking in the sights of the trees, the ground, the rocks... he's almost sure he'd seen that tree before. It was unique, split by lightning or something. But there were no footprints on the ground, theirs or otherwise. Maybe they hadn't passed by here?

Eren pauses, though, as Jean's little charade starts to crack]

... You hear something?

[like a faint "tink tink tink", like metal on stone]

[ D-damn it... what would be awesome is if his legs would stop shaking-! Maybe it wasn't noticeable... ] .... W-wha--

What the hell is that? Huh?

[ Looking down the dark shaft, jeez... who would even care about a place like this? In the middle of nowhere? These poor kids don't exactly have the most trustful deminers either. ]

HEYY!! Is someone down there?! [ God damn, Jean! Might as well tell anyone and everyone you're here!! His breath cuts itself short-- the air seems almost thicker, making his mind wander into this blank nothingness. ]

[Sorry Jean, you've been found out. Not that you were ever doing a good job of hiding it, but Eren wasn't going to say anything. Luckily for the horseface bastard, the giant hole in the ground is way more interesting than him being a chickenshit]

It looks like a mine. I think I see lights down in there!

[... And you get on Eren's case about yelling. He jabs Jean in the ribs with his elbow] Hey! Don't yell, we don't know what's down there! Idiot.

[He rolls his eyes. He never thought he'd be the one to tell Jean to keep his voice down. But there was something off here. Something not right. Eren was curious, though, all the same, and he carefully places his pack of firewood on the ground] ... Let's check it out. It's better than wandering around lost, right?
