Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note: The State of the Game Discussion produced a lot of great suggestions and we now have a post for Plot Suggestions and Monster Questions. The NETWORK VOTE results are in and PRIVATE MESSAGING will be added some time in November. Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look. You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely. Reserve and application dates have been announced. Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample! Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

There’s nothing to worry about. Usually this place lets you out once it gets bored of you. You’ll find your way eventually.

[Ryoji tries to smile back, but his nerves are showing. He wonders if the newcomer will comment on his appearance…]

[Really, it all depends on just how different he looks. As it is, he's barely, barely able to stop himself from saying something unkind. Kimbley is wary and lost; not quite smart enough not to pick a fight, though he's avoiding it for the moment.]

You make it sound like this forest is alive, kid.

[Ryoji can’t help but chuckle at that.]

Who knows? Maybe it is. All I know is that getting lost here isn’t pleasant… but we found a way out last time.

So we’ll be fine.

You'd think they'd put up signs warning people about forests that make you walk around in circles.

[He says this much too casually, like it doesn't bother him at all. like his nerves aren't completely shot and he isn't losing his patience.]

Does that mean you know the way out of here?

Heh, I think most people tend to avoid this place, so they won’t even get close enough to put up a sign.

[He shrugs.]

Not exactly, but finding another person is the hardest part. If we stick together, we’ll find our way out eventually.

[viliorate]

[That earns a smirk.]

They do seem to be pretty superstitious, don't they?

[But then again, looking at the kid, maybe they had a reason to be. Still, Kimbley isn't going to turn down an offer for help. Not when he's lost at any rate.]

Yeah, well… they’ve had a lot of weird things happen. I don’t blame them for wanting to avoid more bad luck.

Anyways, follow me! I’m sure we can get out.

[He turns with a small smile, heading in the direction of the sun. At least, he thinks that’s the sun filtering through the trees.]

Lead the way.

[It's said in one of those tones that indicates that he's not used to keeping quiet, but that he's attempting it anyway.

He'll figure out what's going on. Somehow.]

[Ryoji tries to find a good way through the trees. Whenever he seems to recognize a landmark they’ve been past, he tries changing directions, hoping the stranger doesn’t notice the repetitive pathway.

Eventually, they do make it back to the outskirts of town, and Ryoji turns back with a grin.]

See? I told you we’d find a way out.

[viliorate]

[He notices, because this is one of those things that a person who is used to the dark and unchanging picks up on after a while. Still, Kimbley has no reason to turn down the help, not when the alternative is being stuck in the damn forest forever.

No, he'd rather take the help even if it's the last thing he actually wants.

...actually expressing gratitude, however...]

I must admit, you kept your word.

[...well, an attempt was made.]

[Regardless of the less-than-polite thanks, Ryoji still grins just as brightly as he usually does, even if it looks a bit sinister with his fangs. He shrugs.]

I told you it wasn't that hard as long as you found someone else. Thanks for tagging along with me.

[Even if Ryoji was the one doing the help... Clearly Kimbley could learn something about being polite from the kid.]
