TEST DRIVE MEME
TEST DRIVE MEME | ||
Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. |

Gih–!
[Zelgadis is not used to feeling so keenly; that's why when he's bumped into he has to hop a few steps ahead to keep his balance. that's also why his hair is practically standing on-end with a fresh case of heebie-jeebies (considering how his hair always looks, though, who would notice?)
balance restored, he can spin on his heel and gawk around for the source of this affront, already feeling his face heat up with embarrassment. he was careless yet again; his self-assumed lone-warrior-with-a-cold-gaze-to-match-his-cold-heart dignity can't take much more of this place.
so, naturally, it gets worse: there's a poor girl feeling around on the ground for...something. Zel, what did you do while you were busy poking at your cuticles?]
Uh– [clearing his throat.] Sorry, did you...drop something? [WHAT A GREAT QUESTION, BUDDY. GOOD JOB.]

But when he speaks up she looks up, squinting hard at him. Everything is a blurry haze, as if she's underwater.] Ah, um...yes. My glasses -- I can't seem to find them anywhere.
no subject
[he looks down past her.] Oh, then they fell off... [obviously.
he shifts his weight to move his foot out of her searching hand's way, doing so, he hears a gentle scraping along the concrete and freezes in place, worried setting his weight down is going to cause more disaster.]
Is that...?

[The sound catches her attention, and she looks from both the man to her glasses in turn. Her hands raise up — a hold it! gesture.] Please, don't move! They're under your feet, ah...
[She grabs them, quickly, and after making sure the lenses haven't cracked or an arm hasn't been damaged, she says:] Thank you. I'm terribly sorry, for running into you. [Glasses retrieved, she stands back up.] I wasn't paying attention.

[Zel had, without thinking, extended a hand once he'd been sure he was safe enough to put both feet on the ground. to help her up, and all. but she was quite capable of that on her own, something he noticed almost a little too late.]
[he snaps his hand back to himself, scratching at the back of his neck like he meant to all along.]
It's nothing. I wasn't really, either. So forget about it.

Have you only just arrived as well? You don't look like one of the natives.

a beat. he looks back.] Just arrived, that is. It seems to be a trend.

She makes a little noise of surprise, as if only just realizing something.] I'm terribly sorry; I haven't introduced myself. [She was being rude...no matter how uneasy she was by this place, that wasn't acceptable.] My name is Mitsuki Ishikawa. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
no subject
...oh.]
...Zelgadis. [he nods slightly.] Zelgadis Greywords. And... [glancing away.] They're making a point of not giving good reasons for avoiding people. Especially... [he starts looking down at his hand, still boggling over human flesh.] ...when they look barely different.

[She dips her head, briefly, and then at his next words, she frowns so deeply in thought it creates a wrinkle between her eyes.] That's what I've noticed too. I'm trying to figure out why. Perhaps there are others who washed up here in the same way, that have been here longer? They may have some insight.

Mystery fogs... [he looks over his shoulder.] And something negating any sense of magic? None of it's any good.
no subject
Magic...? Do you mean to say you can normally use magic?
[Because it's not like she can normally. At all. Just your run of the mill average kid here.]

he's a sorcerer, not a detective.
a touch awkward:] Ye-yeah...That is, it's not uncommon, where I'm from, even if most people don't practice. I figure this was someplace past the old Mazoku barrier, so the rules can be entirely different here for all I know.
