Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note: The State of the Game Discussion produced a lot of great suggestions and we now have a post for Plot Suggestions and Monster Questions. The NETWORK VOTE results are in and PRIVATE MESSAGING will be added some time in November. Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look. You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely. Reserve and application dates have been announced. Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample! Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[ He tilts his head back at her, acknowledging her little riff on his bad joke. It's better when the armed girls have a good sense of humor. ]

I might. Depends on how long we're out here, and if I'm going to starve to death.

[ If she's dropping the tension, then he can too; he doesn't put his knife away, but he's not poised to attack her anytime soon. It isn't just about her and that bow; it's about whatever else is out here, waiting to peel them. ]

And if I can find an apple tree that's probably not full of poison apples. I'd much rather just get out of here alive before any of that happens. [ He pauses and debates letting himself hope. ] Do you know your way out of here?

Practical, aren't you.

My goals are much the same. [ she says, pacing a few steps toward one of the trees surrounding them. ] Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, this location is one that I should already have passed by.

[ Homura clicks her tongue in irritation. Lodged solidly in the trunk is an arrow--one of her own, in fact, from when she'd first heard the laughter a while earlier and loosed an arrow in response. ]

If this is anything like the labyrinths I'm familiar with, there's probably something at the center of it that one would need to deal with first.

And if this is anything like the labyrinths I'm familiar with, it can go fuck itself. [ He mutters that mostly to himself. But seriously, fuck labyrinths. Screw this whole place, and double screw it for making him think for a while that he was just stuck in that same labyrinth again. For making him think that if he played the game right, he'd get to go home again. There is no game, though, other than survival. ]

I passed by here too. Are you saying there's some kind of logic to how this place works? Because I can't figure it. The paths I try to turn down sometimes look like the one I just left.

I'm not saying anything of the sort. [ Because she agrees, this forest doesn't seem to be following any form of logic; it's impossible for her to somehow have doubled back to this location when she'd been following a straight line since she left it. ] Simply that maybe there's something here that won't let us leave, or doesn't want us to.

Wouldn't dealing with that be the surest way out, in that case?
