TEST DRIVE MEME
TEST DRIVE MEME | ||
Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. |
works for me!
... Yeah. I guess I was lost. But now I'm not, right? [he shakes his head and whaps as a small shrub with his stick, frustrated with the whole situation] It's not like me to get lost like this.

I've marked a way back to doubly assure we are indeed anything but lost. That said, don't beat yourself up too much over losing your bearings, this is unfamiliar territory to us newcomers.
[He takes a momentary peek at the firewood, but just as he is about to offer a helping hand, one of those eerie giggles breaks the brief silence. Surprisingly, he doesn't flinch.]
It's unnerving, isn't it? The laughter. But it's better to ignore it entirely.

What are they...?

Hmm, well the truth is that I don't really know what's making that sound, but it could be any number of things. I prefer to think that it's nothing too troublesome; perhaps an errant soul unable to pass to the next life? A child lost here once could have suffered such a fate, or even an adult. Barring that, it could be something more intentional, such as a manufactured sound broadcasting through the forest on a timer, in order to scare individuals away.
It could be anything like that. Who knows?
[It is worth studying though. He might take some time to.]

[Eren pouts a bit. He's sore about getting lost, and would probably be so for the next few hours at least. He'd done everything he knew to do, short of leaving an actual trail of breadcrumbs.]
How long have I been out here?
no subject
I highly doubt that anything that was put in place here was for our comfort. As for how long you've been out here, it's probably been a little over three hours since you left. Given what I've overheard about individuals becoming lost for days, it seemed better to err on the side of caution and look for you.

Hold on, what?! Eren looks up, jogging a bit to catch up with and walk next to Kurama]
Three HOURS?! It's been that long? Are you kidding me?! [Eren groans and threads his fingers into his bangs, grabbing them and yanking them in frustration] I'm so embarrassed. I'm sorry you had to come out here looking for me.

Don't worry about it, so long as you're safe, that's the best we can hope for. And look, we've got firewood, so it is not as if you will be coming back empty-handed.
[He takes a momentary look around, checking for where he'd marked the plants on the pathway. So far, it looks as if they're headed in the right direction, at least.]
By the way, what manner of tracking have you been taught? Perhaps we can share skills? I may presume too much, but despite you being in a scouting regiment, you seem young. Have you fully tested your skills? This might be the time and place to do so.

Huh? [Eren is a bit lost in his own thoughts, then looks back down] You know. Looking for specific trees and rocks, marking a path, following your own footsteps, using the sun... [but it seemed like all the markings he made vanished, and that the sun would just flip flop across the sky for no apparent reason while he wasn't looking] I may be young, but this is how old people are when they join the military where I come from! I have plenty of field experience.

Thankfully, hearing about Eren's life as a soldier is something of a change of pace. Something to catalog for later.]
Really? It must be a hard life though. And twice as hard now that you're out of your element, I'd think. This is a far cry from a soldier's life. It's rather...domestic, wouldn't you say?
[He takes a momentary pause in his walk to recheck his trail. Maybe they'll make it out of here after all! Still, if he were able to access his demon abilities, this would be much easier.]
