TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town.

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

The man who greeted her was a stranger, and yet they were all strangers here. She stepped into the clearing with palms outstretched so this man could tell she was unarmed... and also that she remained human.

"There is. I'm truly sorry for the interruption. I seem to have lost my way. Would it be all right if I stopped here to rest?"

Though he was hunched over, he was still someone who hadn't yet lost himself to the monstrous sickness. And in this crazy, twisted world, that seemed reason enough to consider someone a friend.

"Of course. Safety in numbers and all, maybe." He motioned with a hand for her to come into camp; the claws had been there just long enough for him to stop caring about them. It'd probably be safer for her, at least; he was confident enough about dealing with any actual threats, and wasn't about to leave someone unarmed wandering with gods-knew-what out there. "How long have you been out here?"

Comparing notes was something that might, at least, get a clue how to get out of the forest.

It was then that she noticed the claws in the first place. It sent tension along the edge of her spine, but she did her best to remain sensitive. This man was cursed. He couldn't control what he was becoming. She settled down beside him, to show that she understood, and wouldn't think less of him for his disability.

"I've been here since sunup," she admitted softly. "I thought the way out of here might be in the forest. Is this your home?"

It wasn't something he was thrilled with, but considering the alternatives, he'd take claws and scales over having his free will taken away again; he shifted to make sure there was comfortable space for both of them on the fallen-over log he'd pulled by the fire, giving her a slow headshake.

"I washed up on the coast a few weeks ago; I was out looking for any clues to this." Long enough for whatever was happening to the people brought here to start; he held up a clawed hand, the scales and talons the question he was chasing. "I've seen most of my world from the air, and these towns aren't on any of our maps." It was almost apologetic; honest, but if they were brought here from other worlds entirely, then any hope of finding a way home by walking was probably in vain.
