TEST DRIVE MEME
TEST DRIVE MEME | ||
Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. |

[ If her hands were free she'd definitely be flipping her hair at this point. But as it is they are not, and she settles for enduring his scrutiny, giving him a meaningful once-over of her own. His tone isn't lost upon her, and she's reminded that, for all those years of repeated timelines, she's only a 14-year-old girl now. ]
...I was on my way out before we came across each other. If you are truly so lost, then you are free to accompany me.
[ What hangs in the air is the implication that she doesn't trust him at all; to leave him to his own devices would be folly. Better then to keep him somewhere she could keep an eye on him, rather than have to watch her back for any untoward overtures. ]

[If he had to guess, he wouldn't peg her as one of the locals. The locals have all stared at him in that way that makes him dearly wish he had a weapon on him. It's unfortunate he's at such a disadvantage at the moment.]
Maybe we'll have a shot together.
[He picks up on the implication, but he chooses to ignore it. By the twisting of his lips into a not-quite-smile, it's clear he's used to people not trusting him. It hardly matters, anyway. What he wants is to be out of the woods and hopefully away from the stares of any more villagers.
Now, if only they can both escape that eerie laughter that keeps cracking through the trees. It's starting to unnerve Kimbley more than he cares to let on.]

Perhaps.
[ She waits until he's walked a bit past her before spinning on her heel and making to follow, keeping him in her line of vision. This alleviates at least one concern, and it allows her to settle from on high alert to not-quite-conversational. Might as well try to learn things. ]
I don't suppose you've been hearing the voices too?

When he walks, he nearly swaggers through the woods, apparently not in the least bit threatened by his current situation.]
...if you mean that laughter, I hear it. But I can't tell where it's coming from.
no subject
It doesn't seem to come from any one direction, as far as I can tell. But if you hear it too, then that does eliminate the possibility of it being isolated to either one of us.
[ She's not sure which she would have preferred to be the case, really. ]

It could be an echo. This is an enclosed enough space that it's possible.
[Though unlikely.
Another possible explanation would be that it's a ghost, and that is one too ridiculous to voice.]

... Their surroundings look familiar. She pauses. Her eyes trace the frame of a fallen tree, follow where it points to another one. She'd carved a notch in the bark then- and sure enough there it is. ]
There's something going on here.

We're going around in circles?
[Except Kimbley is almost positive that hey hadn't been.]

[ She scans it, eyes narrowing as she takes her gaze off of the man for the moment. They'd even approached from the same angle as she had before, not like if they'd somehow gotten turned around and ended up doubling back or anything of the sort.
There's no need to say it, but: ]
I was following a linear path.

What the hell is going on?
