Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note: The State of the Game Discussion produced a lot of great suggestions and we now have a post for Plot Suggestions and Monster Questions. The NETWORK VOTE results are in and PRIVATE MESSAGING will be added some time in November. Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look. You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely. Reserve and application dates have been announced. Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample! Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[N had headed towards the woods because he'd hoped he'd find Pokemon there.

After many hours of walking, however, he hadn't seen a single creature he recognized. Attempting to talk to them had been fruitless, with all of them scattering in terror when he tried to get close. The fear they displayed made his heart ache, and the fact he felt that way only caused him more worry. Wasn't this the kind of world he wanted? None of the people he'd talked to in town even knew what a 'Pokemon' was. He should feel joyous.

He collapsed onto a stump, head in his hands as he tried his best to recall how he'd ended up in this place. In his minds eye he replayed the devastating battle where he failed in his quest to become the hero. Ghetsis's angry words still rang in his ears - warped, he'd called him.

Then, in a blink, he was nearly drowning and ended up being pulled ashore. For a person enamored with problem solving, it was a seemingly impossible equation.]

I just don't understand...

[Personally, he's glad the wildlife is staying away from him. He doesn't know this more fragile body's defensive capabilities, and he's still somewhat shaky on his new legs, so he probably wouldn't be able to defend himself very well right now anyway.

Someone's voice catches his attention, and he pauses in his slightly wavering steps to look at the source of the noise.

Huh. Well, that made two of them.

He'll carefully approach the green haired kid, looking a bit like a slinking animal, and stop a safe distance away to get a look at the boy.]

... You look stumped.

[pawnable]

[N jumps slightly at the noise, and when he sees what exactly is addressing him, his eyes will widen. Unfortunately the joke whizzes right over his head.]

I... I've...

... please, I'm sorry to be rude but... what are you?

[energycreep]

[N's comment makes him grin; apparently he still looks strange enough even when he isn't... himself. Maybe it was the weirdly hued skin, or the cybernetics. Eh.

As the kid doesn't seem hostile, he'll drop out of his cautious stance and straighten his back, clasping his hands in front of his chest.]

A nasty sack of meat just like you. It's unfortunate, really.

[pawnable]

[The reply makes N tilt his head.]

Are you saying you're a human? None of the ones in town looked quite like you.

[energycreep]

[In a tone that can only be described as regretful,] Yes, yes. For some reason.

That's probably because I'm not from here. You're not either, right?

[pawnable]

[N shakes his head.]

No, I'm certainly not. Do you not remember how you got here, either?

[energycreep]

I don't.

[Now there's a slight frown. That part bothers him, but what's worse is the fact that someone did this to him and he has no memory of it. He's more than a bit disturbed, to be frank. Not outwardly, of course.]

If neither of us do, I think it's safe to assume the other new arrivals are on the same boat.

[pawnable]

But why? It just doesn't make any sense.

[A thought occurs to him, and he puts it forth bluntly.]

Did you perhaps fail at something just before arriving here?

Personally, merely showing up here is one of the least confusing things about this.

[It was going to take a long time to adjust to the body, but hopefully this wouldn't last long enough for that to even happen.

At the question, he appears to physically bristle; he does remember being locked in his coffin and dozing off on the ride to PC-7, the prison planet, but...]

No, not really. Did you?

[He looks away at the question, his expression darkening.]

I did. Possibly at more than one thing. So I thought maybe this was my punishment.

[energycreep]

[Well, if NOS clearly didn't fail at anything whatsoever then there might not really be a correlation. Now he's tapping at his chin thoughtfully.]

Did you pass out or something? I certainly didn't come here when I was awake.

I don't think I did. In my last memory, I was wide awake. I couldn't imagine passing out with all that was going on.

So you just... blinked and appeared here somehow.

[Uh-huh. He's skeptical.]

I dozed off and woke up like this. [Referring to the gross human flesh suit. Ah, the disdain.]

[Natsuhi had been able to switch forms freely for a while now, though she hadn't mastered it yet mostly turning back to normal. She hated to admit it but she needed to know more about her horse form especially after the incident. Practising to talk in this form would be useful for when she couldn't avoid changing would be useful as well.

Her ears twitched at the noise, most of the locals didn't enter the forest so it had to be someone else. She'd go and look anyway it hadn't been too far away after all.

The boy probably noticed her as she approached, it was hard to miss a large horse after all.]

[Indeed, he noticed her, a small gasp escaping his mouth when he'd done so. This one wasn't running away? It was coming towards him? His mannerisms were very careful, and his voice as gentle as he could make it.]

H-hello! Please don't be afraid of me. Please stay for awhile.

Probably should have mentioned she's a kelpie

[Scared Of him? Well she'd let him know he was being ridiculous..]

"N-no-noss-"

[Well, it looked like another word she couldn't say yet in this state, maybe she should start with simpler words? She shook her head as well, hopefully it helped get the meaning across.]

"Seen worse."

[A relieved smile came to his face and he started spilling his heart out to her, his words coming out a mile a minute.]

Oh, I'm so glad! My name is N! I just arrived here and I've been trying to talk to the creatures of this forest, but they're all scared of me! Where I come from all of my friends aren't human, and it's such a relief to meet one that wants to speak to me! You kind of look like a Ponyta... or a Zebstrika... but much different!

[She lowered her head slightly to look at him, she'd missed most of what he'd said. She would introduce herself, unfortunately she hadn't worked out how to say her name right yet. But at least she could speak even if it was slow.]

"You are new here? This place is not safe."

[She looked in the direction of the city, if new people were coming could Jessica be there?]

Where do you go to stay safe? May I go with you?

"I'm not safe...People found in the water, turn to mons-ters."

[She shook her head it would be easier to explain in her original form but she wouldn't switch in front of him.]

... people can turn into monsters, here?

[His voice wasn't horrified. To the contrary, it sounded as if he was in awe.]

"Have to eat people."

[She stomped one of her hooves against the ground a few times. It was better for her to do that, than to yell and not be understood.]
