TEST DRIVE MEME: SEPTEMBER

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

"I have no idea who Souma is," Draco replied tightly, pinching his mouth into a thin line of continued irritation. "Plants and animals are as alive as I am, for the record. And I know that I am alive."

Warily, he gave him a steady once-over, eyebrows arching neatly. "Don't know about you, though. Do you have any actual answers for all this? Or just...odd babbling about how plants don't exist?"

"So- what, is'is supposed ta be some other world or somethin'?" Because there could be no way that all this would appear in mere minutes and on top of it have people claim it's always been there. "Ya tellin' me ya've actually seen real plants an' animals?"

He wrinkled his nose at that, disapproving of the question. The idea that he'd been kidnapped to another world was...well, impossible, quite frankly. No one had that ability. Surely.

He'd have read about it if it was possible. Right?

Better to simply acknowledge the rest: "Yes. Of course, I have. My manor has peacocks on the grounds, and that's before you even get to the gardens. And I saw the giant squid at my school plenty of times."

Malfoy are you stupid? You have time turners but you don't think travel to another world was possible? Shame, child.

"Wh- none of those're real! I've seen'em in books or online but ya know ya can't know'f thar real, right!?" Those two animals were among the ones he hadn't been able to picture as real.

He lived in a world where he expected very certain things to happen, all right? Interdimensional travel was out of the question. Especially since he still thought he'd been kidnapped out of his bed.

"Of course they are," Draco scoffed, rolling his eyes and offering a heavy sigh up to no one in particular. They were probably going to get themselves killed, hanging around bickering like this, but it was terribly important. And Draco had to win the argument. "I've touched them. They're incredibly real, you nitwit."

He would discover a lot of new things here, wouldn't he? So would Ayumu, but much different things. Like dogs or grass or ice cream.

"Shaddap, thar extinct where'm from, kay?! They dun look real at all in tha history books!" It was an important argument, yes. Or not really, Ayumu was 28 years old, he shouldn't argue with a little brat like this.

They were both in for quite the treat, it was true. As long as the definition of 'treat' was very loose indeed.

"Mm...hm," he replied slowly, eyes slightly narrowed in an incredulous stare. "Well, see, the key word there is history, which generally suggests that it is indeed real, rather than fiction. Furthermore, where the hell are you from that these things aren't around?"

Calm down, calm down, Ayumu you're a grown up, you might be shorter than this guy, but that's no excuse to behave like a kid. He took a few breaths, because seriously? The trees were still kind of freaking him out. It was too unreal.

"Look, history books ain't always right, ya know tha' right? An' I'm from Japan, but tha' don't matter cuz they don't exist anywhere in tha world."

"Well, they certainly exist in England, so whomever gave you that information is clearly wrong. I don't know what else to tell you," he said airily, fluttering one hand around in a dismissive gesture. At the very least, this was giving him something else to focus on, that wasn't the ridiculousness of the situation.

"Yah no, yer wrong, they're not there either. Ya must be some sorta space alien or somethin'." Who's to say there aren't people on other planets. He looks completely human though... "Ya didn't throw me into some time machine or whatever did ya...?"

[alphaophiuchi]

"I didn't even touch you. And I don't plan on it either, so don't go getting any ideas," Draco snapped, clearly displeased with the notion of being told he was wrong. He wasn't. He very much wasn't. "I'm from England, you idiot. My birthday party was surrounded by trees, so stop telling me I'm wrong when you're simply delusional."

He scoffed, making a sound not unlike a loud ugh before throwing his hands in the air. "I'm leaving."

"Then who tha hell took me here? This some sorta virtual world an' yer laughing at me?" He was trying to make sense of this. Virtual reality hadn't gone this far even in his time. They couldn't get it to feel this real.

"Wha- yer jus' gon leave me with these, these plants?"

"Oh, I'm certainly laughing at you," came his easy reply, as he glanced around, seeking out a good direction in which to head. Away from the water, for sure. That was where he had come in, but it wasn't where he could go out. So he needed a plan.

He also had no idea what 'virtual' meant, so it wasn't like he could actually answer the questions.

"And yes. That's exactly what I'm going to do. You can learn the hard way that plants aren't going to do anything to you."

"Ugh, brat..." He rubbed his head that was starting to ache from all that was happening. This whole ordeal was frustrating as all hell.

"Fine, go, I'll find someun's more helpful'an you." He didn't want to deal with this kid more than he had to, and since he didn't know about the shinigami he wasn't a doctor and would be of no help.

"I'm not the brat here!" Draco informed him over his shoulder, pursing his lips. "You're the one insisting upon ridiculous things."

"Yer like 16, of course yer a brat." He was not being ridiculous at all, as far as he knew. It was a fact that plants and animals didn't exist anymore where he was from. "Is not ridic'lus when is true."

[alphaophiuchi]

"I'm eighteen," he snapped, rolling his eyes again. "And it's obviously not true. Use your eyes."

This argument was going in circles, the narration noted with no small amount of amusement.

"So'm still 10 years older'an ya." Ugh, this child, almost the same age as Souma? Well, that made sense, Souma acted like a brat a lot of the time too.

"'m blind on one of'em right now so no can do fer both of'em." Now he was just messing with him. Though the bandages that covered his eye came off in the water and were hanging around his neck and head, his eye was pretty ruined.

"I couldn't tell," he dryly remarked, pursing his mouth into a line. Ten years older than him? Honestly?

"Then-" Only when it was actually drawn to his attention did Draco finally notice that yes, his new companion's eye was a mess. He opened his mouth, closed it again, then huffed loudly. "Ugh."

"Yah, thanks fer that pal." He knew he looked younger than he actually was, which could be pretty damn annoying in certain situations, especially when teens hit on him thinking he was their age. Ew. No.

"An' wha's that supposed ta mean?" Why did he have to go 'ugh' over his eye? It probably looked pretty gross right now, but he also had bruises and cuts all over, not to mention a broken arm. "I almost died, I get ta look gross."

Draco's smile was far from sweet, mostly falling on the more sarcastic end of the word. He wasn't even remotely sorry.

"You're more than welcome to do so, providing it's far away from me," he retorted simply, sniffing before fluttering a hand in a delicate shooing gesture. "Go on."

"Shaddap, yer not my boss ya know. Ya dun even know what Gokurakuen is, do ya?" This brat was getting on his nerves, but at least that distracted him from his worries about the vegetation.

"Not a bloody clue." And no desire to know, if the look on his face was anything to go by. "Why would I?"

"Ugh, whaddever. Jus' go into the forest or somethin' but don't blame me if ya get infected by the shinigami." He had warned him now, so it wouldn't be on him. He would still feel bad if he DID die though.

"Fine, consider yourself officially off the hook," Draco drawled, rolling his eyes skyward as he threw his hands up in exasperation, briskly turning on his heel. His feet hurt, but he'd deal with it. Surely civilisation couldn't be that far away.
