TEST DRIVE MEME: SEPTEMBER

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

WHOAAAAA! Pekoyama, it seems you, too, are back from the dead!! Gwaaaahahaha! This meeting must be fate!

[He sits back to give her space even as he offers her hand, should she choose to let him help her up.]

Are you injured anywhere? Are you experiencing any fatigue? As a team manager, I'm fully equipped to get someone like you back on your feet!

[Peko takes his hand gratefully, pushing her hair out of her face when she's righted.]

My injuries are superficial... More than they should be.

[She looks to Nekomaru, brow raised slightly.]

Back from the dead...?

[So it's true of herself-- but of Nidai, too...?]

[Nekomaru's intensity dies a little at the question; he turns away and rubs the back of his head, like it's a delicate subject. But he still answers, after clearing his throat.]

Yeah. Well, it seems I was probably the victim of the fourth murder to take place on our so-called school trip... But that hardly matters now! You're here, and I'm here, so I say we pool our gifts and get to the bottom of this! For example, where do you think the others must be?

...I don't know. But, Nekomaru-san...

[She looks around at their surroundings.]

It may be safer if we get somewhere else first. This place.. doesn't feel as deserted as where we were before.

[That, and it would seem they have a few puzzles to put together first.]

[That sobers him right up.]

You don't think this is the same island?

[He looks around again as well, and this time, the gunpowder smell strikes him as much more dangerous.]

You're right, Pekoyama. We should look for cover, right? How well can you see without your glasses?

I don't need to see.

[She assures him.]

It wouldn't make sense. This isn't Monokuma's work. Isolating us was one of his tactics.

Even if it had all been fake, why would his victims end up within the reach of outsiders?

[IT doesn't add up. What else doesn't add up is--]

How long? Before the fourth murder, between.... what I did, and then-- how long was it?

["I don't need to see" sounds like a stupid thing, but if that's the way she's going to be...perhaps she and Kuzuryuu are more alike than either of them knows.]

...To be honest, I'm not sure.

[He crosses his arms.]

I was hospitalized for a lot of that time. Though I returned to our class with a superior sense of time's passage for various reasons, the length of time that passed before I was discharged is somewhat unclear to me. Why do you ask?

[Wow Nekomaru, maybe she's just good at her job??? wow

Peko's concern grows a bit more apparently than usual, though; her eyes widen and her brows furrow.]

...Almost no time has passed for me since the time of my own death.

Then...

[Ohhh no their lives are weird enough without throwing time shit into the mix.]

Do you think...this could be the afterlife? After all, if the last thing both of us remember is dying, and then we woke here...if we were simply dead during that missing time, it'd make sense if we couldn't remember, right...?!

I won't say it's impossible. However...

[Peko crosses her arms.]

If that's the case, our numbers should be stronger than they are. I haven't seen Koizumi or Togami-- yet.

You're right. And Tsumiki, Saionji, and Mioda aren't here, either...

[And nobody mentioned Hanamura.

Nobody wanted to mention Hanamura.

But hey, that's good news, isn't it? That the other dead aren't here? Nidai finds his good spirits again.]

Then it just means we truly were reanimated, doesn't it? [He punches the air.] After all, we wouldn't feel our injuries like this if we weren't living creatures!

[Peko can't argue with that.]

I would suppose so...

If we can find anyone who isn't hostile on the way, we should gather information.

[They'll just have to find a target they can overpower, just in case.]

[Even unarmed and pre-monstered, who wouldn't these two be able to overpower together, though?]

Agreed. Should we head towards those lights, then? I was following the shore before to see if anyone else was here before I left.

[He points towards the lights in the distance.]

There's no guarantee those lights are home to the hospitable. Are you alright with taking that chance?

[She is, but she respects Nidai's warrior spirit enough to ask him.]
