TEST DRIVE MEME: SEPTEMBER

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[ He might not know this particular doctor as well as he knows Souma, but he certainly knows him to some degree. He does trust him to know if it's a shinigami though, as he's a doctor and he really respects their work (and then there's that dumbass who's his close friend). ]

[ He relaxes again, falling back on the grass. ]

'tis weird to see these thin's in real life.

[ Kanata had been tasked with fetching Ichinose-senpai and Kajiwara-han after he purposefully let them go after all. He'd hope that he at least knew his face even if he didn't know his name. He didn't know Kajiwara's name until very recently either anyway, just that he was from PR. ]

I know, it's super weird. But they're also really pretty, don't ya think?

[ He spins the stem slowly between his fingers. ]

I haven't seen any Shinigami this far by the way, if I do I'll let you and everyone know. Ah, I haven't seen any other Doctors either.

[ Please, don't underestimate the PR department. He knows all the names of the doctors. Especially those who joined Gokurakuen way after he did. It was pretty unavoidable to know his face after all that's happened recently. ]

Yah, I haven't looked at'em tha' much yet.

[ He picks another flower to look at it more closely. ]

Me eitha, 've seen lotsa creature's tha' def'nitely got somethin' weird goin' on with'em.

[ It's not like he knows that many people from the PR department, and definitely not people as high up as Kajiwara. Usually, Doctors only got involved with the PR department if someone from it was going to document their activities, and Kajiwara had not been documenting the fifth dispatch unit during Kanata's one years as a captain. ]

It's fine if you do, no worries. I've read that some plants are poisonous but it's not like anything can beat the Shinigami.

[ There is no Doctor that does not hate the Shinigami Flower, and h's got a personal grudge, just like a lot of other Doctors. ]

Right? Apparently it's something about becoming monsters because of some fog, I need to learn more about it. If there's anything I can do to help against it I gotta do that. Kajiwara-han, are you good at collecting information outside the computer? I mean you're clearly good at it inside the computers [ he's seen the info you gather ] but I dunno if they have much in form of electricity an' stuff here.

[ When it comes to high up, doctors are definitely higher up than the PR department. He's worked with creative means most of his life, and there's a whole lot of people who belittle the work they do. Sometimes it might not be to their faces, but when someone wants you to go in a whole different direction after you're done and want it finished in an hour? That's not a sign of respect for the hard work they do. ]

Def'nitely not. Nothin' can beat that.

[ He might not have had a personal grudge against the shinigami, but now... things had changed. The ship had been blown up, there had been shady things... He kind of missed Souma, and all his stupidity. ]

'm not nearly's good at it outside it, but 'll try. Their lack of tech really bums me out though. They dun even have internet.

[ He wouldn't belittle it, he's seen some old stuff that might be oldfashioned PR due to his parents' interests but he did not really understand the fun in PR, which was a completely different thing. ]

But if there are Shinigami it'll be fine anyway.

[ Because Kanata can treat any potential victims of the plant. ]

I've barely heard of times where there were no internet, it sounds horrible.

[ He's heard of it a little, but it was very generalized in the part of history that he picked up. History never was his strong point, no matter what age he was.

But his gaming. How can he game if he doesn't have any games and no internet to search for games with? ]

[ Thank you Kanata, you're a good kid. ]

Yah, if it'd been jus' me it'd gone ta hell.

[ The way he had feared he had been alone before he met Kanata, who knew much more about the shinigami and could tell him that it definitely wasn't that. If the shinigami showed up and there were no doctors... the world could easily end. ]

Right? How can they live like this? No net an' so many strange plants an' animals. I think I saw a dog b'fore. A dog! A real one.

[ Sob, his tokusatsu shows... ]

I'm sure senpai can manage if there's no Shinigami.

[ That he might hold his senpais in too high regard doesn't cross his mind. ]

Since it's normal for them I guess they don't think that it's hard to live like this, I guess? I wanna see a dog too, I wanna see all the different kind of animals we ain't got at home.

Yah no, not if there's thugs. An' there're always thugs.

[ He'll just get beaten up. You're talking to one of the weakest people aboard the ship who also has kind of bad luck. ]

'm bettin' yer gon get to see one, they seem like they're actually normal here. Which's still weird.

Dogs might be normal... Cool. Then a lot of other animals have to be normal as well. I wonder if there are any Chocobos or Battletoads or horses like Epona.

[ His eyes might be sparkling a little at the thought. The things he's talking about are from games that are so so so extremely old but he likes them, he likes all kinds of games. ]

I dun think it's anythin' with plot. But I guess. 'm not a game character ya know.

[ Look, at least Ayumu is a nerd as well. Just with something different. He doesn't really play video games, unlike the doctor.

He likes the retro stuff too, as Kanata might know. Given his dated cameras and his flip phone. ]

've never seen anythin' 'bout those 'cept horses in th' books. But I guess we'll find out 'bout all o'that.

[ Don’t you know that, senpai? Ah, he supposes he might not, since it’s old games that very few play these days. ]

[ He likes reading, okay. He reads a lot of old ancient tokusatsu novels, but also regular books, and that Masked Rider Fruits? It had horses. Real ones. ]

Yer a cute kid, but ya might wanna put away tha games fer a while. Not that ya seem to have another option righ now tho.

[ Meanwhile they can be lucky that they're two of the few who actually ave an interest in vintage stuff. It might help here. ]

Only in manga books, in these case of Epona. These horses're special horses, not normal horses.

I'm not cute, I'm 20... [ 20 is not cute age. ] Not having any games sucks, I play every day some of the times when I'm not working.

[ That really might help a lot. ]

Thar's special horses in books too. They can't make up thar mind'f unicorns was real though.

[ How are they supposed to know the truth if some history says they're real and some says they weren't? Tanuki? Were they real? ]

Yer years younger than I am, so ya can still be cute. [ Never mind that you're taller than Ayumu. Everyone but Hiyo is. ] Ya'll hafta find somethin' else ta do.

Ah, yeah, if they were real that'd be cool. I don't read much besides things for studying though.

[ He reads a lot about medicine and stuff. His dad is a little bit unstable so he even reads up extra on psychological stuff, despite the fact that it's not required of the doctors of Gokurakuen.

He puffs up his cheeks (not at all disproving Ayumu's words). ] I'd rather be cool. [ But in the end he'll end up saying uncool stuff because all he knows beyond medical jargon is things about games and game stuff. That's not really cool. ] I know...

If I find any good books'll point ya thata way.

[ Given their work, it should probably BE required for the doctors to study at least some psychology.

He ruffles Kanata's hair, the way he used to do to Souma, though he hadn't done it much in recent time. ] Sure kid, whatever ya say.

[ Probably. But he has his special, personal interest in it, and not just the basics. ]

[ He looks at Ayumu with great surprise, hands raised in confusion because what???? ]

My bad, 's habit. 've known Souma too long.
