TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!
SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.
SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

He turns toward Gundam as well, lowering his arms so he can crack his knuckles.]
Tanaka! It's good to see you! I hope you're doing well, because we have yet to finish our fi--
[Oh. Okay, wait. That's...different. That's, uh, not exactly what he expected! He stares at Gundam's impressive wingspan for a moment, then jumps back in the sand, eyes wide.]
UWAAAHHHH?! WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOUUUU?!?
1/2
Fuahahahaha! Are you impressed, fiend? Scared? I should hope it would be the former rather than the latter, as it would not sit well with me to battle a foe who finds himself quivering at the mere sight of my power.

The overseer of this land - the despicable woman who brought us both here - has deemed it necessary to reveal my true form. Those that arrive here thanks to her powers are soon transformed into beasts of legend. That is the short explanation of what this is. If you desire the long one, that will have to wait.
no subject
Woman? Beasts of legend?
[A long career of working with some of the most talented--and most volatile--young athletic heroes of their generation has taught Nidai how to roll with the punches, but these are a lot of punches to roll with, even for him. Isn't this Tanaka's usual incomprehensible babbling? Nekomaru has no idea where to even begin translating.
Still, it seems, whatever it is Tanaka's trying to convey, the situation at least isn't the same sort of crisis that the Fun House was. He senses no killing intent from Tanaka, even in this...weird...form of his.]
Then...this isn't Jabberwock Island? Well, the weather's different enough...
[He looks around once, rubbing his chin, then crosses his arms and nods firmly.]
Hmmm. All right. As long as you swear as a man to explain the rest later... Are you well, like that? And the rest of our class, how were they when you left them? Are they here?
[I.e. What the fuck happened after you murdered the shit out of my shit, bruh?]
no subject
This is the Ryslig Peninsula, ruled over by the woman who calls herself the Fog God. She is the one who brought us here, brought about these changes in my own body and will soon bring similar ones in yours. This most certainly is not Jabberwock, nor is it anywhere near that island from what we can tell. This is another universe entirely.
[Nobody even knows Hope's Peak...]
And I swear on my very name that you will not be left in the dark for long. It will do neither of us any good to leave you lacking in information.
[They should just get somewhere safer. Neither of them really need to be shot, even if the two of them could probably handle it well enough. Why "handle it" when you can just avoid it all together right? He gestures for the man to follow him.]
I am well enough. Better off in some aspects, perhaps worse off in others. Certainly, surrounded by similar creatures and humans who wish to dispose of me, having this form is useful. The rest of our class...
[A tricky question, that. Knowing everything he knows now...]
They were as you could expect. Fed, once your death was confirmed, and deeply wounded by my betrayal. From what I heard, Monokuma kept his word and allowed them exit from that wretched building once I had met my demise. [So they were........as okay as you can be. For a while. Until other Shit went down.]
Some of them are here, yes. We are living together outside of Bavan. You will surely meet with them soon enough, either before if they've decided to come investigate Vandare or once we reach the castle.
no subject
Kuh...it's no use. Even in peak physical condition, I couldn't absorb that much information at once...!
[But he sighs and meets Tanaka's eyes again with a frown.]
One thing you said concerns me, though. When you said there are humans who want to dispose of you, what did you mean? Is it like World Ender?! I won't let that happen to us again!
[Ah. He raised his voice again. He tries to dial it back down.]
And this Fog God... If she's going to change me into some kind of demon, too, why did she turn me back into a human in the first place? What the hell are they trying to accomplish with all this back and forth with my body?
[...Wait.]
And if we were both definitely killed on the island...then HOW ARE WE ALIVE NOW?!?
no subject
[Right now it would probably be too much for most people. It definitely was for him and Fuyuhiko when they arrived, and for the others when they arrived as well.]
No, it is not like that in the least. As monsters, we are forced to partake in unsavory actions. We feast upon the natives here, and as such they retaliate to protect themselves. They cannot be blamed for wanting to rid their world of our existence, because of this. Not that we can allow them to exterminate us...
[It's...really a difficult situation. Nobody wants to be in it, yet here they all are. All thanks to the Fog God. But jeez they just keep stumbling from one difficult subject right into another...he wouldn't expect any less but give him a break, this is his first time having to explain any of this all on his own!]
I cannot say I understand why she choose to do things like this. There are others I know of who were different before as well...but upon arriving here, they found themselves forced into human bodies and then changed into different creatures. Her purpose for such behavior is beyond me.
[And...as for how they're alive...that actually brings him to a stop, so he can turn and look the other man properly in the eye when he says this. He could give him the easier explanation. "The Fog God can resurrect us." It's not wrong, she can. But...well. There's a more important explanation his classmate deserves to know.]
We never truly died. The circumstances surrounding the island and that killing game are even more convoluted and concerning than the ones we are faced with here.
no subject
Cooperation, friendship--all the hallmarks of team play--will be paramount in this adventure. Not just Owari, but all the rest of them...they'll need him.]
...I understand.
[He lets that stand for a moment before bursting into sudden laughter, even though none of this is a laughing matter.]
Actually, I don't understand at all! But it looks like you have a lot to tell me, so it would be better to air everything out properly when we're all together.
[Nekomaru's expression sobers again, though in a determined way. He's made up his resolve.]
Right now, it's enough that we're alive, and that our friends here are safe and well. Tanaka, your words may be hard for other people to understand, but I respect your judgment under pressure and your fighting spirit. What else do I need to know right now to survive here? Do we all...
[He waves vaguely at Tanaka's...everything.]
...Turn into the same sort of creature as you?
no subject
Somehow, even though absolutely none of this is a laughing matter, Nidai's laughing puts him at ease. He can even smile a little, chuckling shortly himself with a shake of his head.]
The others will be better at explaining it than I am in any case.
[Fuyuhiko actually went through all of the island junk so...probably better to hear it from him instead. He's heard it explained three or so times now sure but that doesn't make it any easier to actually tell someone else about it.]
Coming from you, I am honored to receive praise such as that. And not the exact same creature as myself, but that is the idea yes. I am a demon - as I should be - and others have been transformed into demons as well. But there is a large variety of beasts that the Fog God favors, and you have an equal chance of turning into any one of them. Werewolf, Minotaur, Manticore, Vampire, Faerie, Shade, Merman...it's an extensive list.
[Please don't be a Minotaur though. Or maybe you should be a Minotaur. One is enough in the castle but then again if the you were one maybe you could teach Mahiru a thing or two.........]
But you should be prepared either way to turn into something, yes. And brace yourself for said transformation to be painful. Extremely so. We of course have the medical supplies to help combat this as best as possible, but you must rely on yourself to a certain extent to shoulder the pain as well.
[His expression sets firmly after that.]
You should also begin getting used to the idea of killing and consuming humans so that when the time comes, you can.
no subject
[Extreme pain is one thing. Injury, anguish, even dying doesn't faze him much; Nekomaru works in sports, he's experienced every type and level of pain there is. He's taken high school baseball teams to Koshien. Dismemberment would wring fewer tears out of him.
But the last bit of news, that's something else entirely. Killing and consuming humans...even knowing how Tanaka talks, no matter how Nekomaru tries to slice it, he doesn't see that meaning anything but what it means.]
Hold on, Tanaka. Are you telling me, when we turn into these beasts of yours, we have to...eat people?
[That's possibly the worst thing a man could hear, coming right out of Strawberry House. Of everything he's learned about this place so far, this is the first to turn his gut, the first inkling of dawning horror.
Please tell him he's hearing wrong. Please let this be Tanakaese for "our experiences on the island were so traumatic we've all become criminal delinquents stealing food out of the mouths of poor orphans and extorting widows for money." Nekomaru can deal with that. Nekomaru can deal with most anything, but eating people...]
no subject
Yes. I am. Some in a very literal sense, needing to devour their flesh and blood. Some less so, consuming energy and souls instead.
[Unfortunately it's not Tanakaese for anything. If he could steel food from poor orphans and extort widows for money instead of this, he really honestly would. That wouldn't sit as terribly with him as this does.]
And if you refuse and go too long without doing so, the consequences will be dire and end in the deaths of many more than just the one human you require. Possibly other monsters, possibly even your own friends. You will not differentiate between them as you mindlessly seek sustenance.
[Where others might want to wait a day or two for the whole Ryslig spiel about eating and killing and going crazy, Gundam would much rather get it out of the way as soon as possible. Sorry about that.]
...you will not have to suffer this alone, however. Just as with everything else, we'll be here to support you through this matter too.
[But there's...kind of a silver lining? All of this "us" talk definitely doesn't end at just being classmates, or being everyone against the Gods. They've definitely forged some strong bonds here, and Gundam doesn't even need to talk to the others to know they'll extend that bond with their manager. That's said with every ounce of confidence he's put into every other word he's ever spoken.]
