TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME: SEPTEMBER

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

"Honestly I thought it might shock you solid."

Sometimes it was something really simple. Not so in this case, apparently. If Ford were still around this is about the time he'd be going next door and asking for a favor, but Ford's not here and Fiddleford doesn't want to break in to his clinic only to find that his notebook on Shades has no helpful information.

"Well, it didn't work."

He sat the bottle up almost daintily, ignoring the spill. Just the fact that it came up and stayed in place was a little victory.Robbie put a hand to his forehead, muttering softly to himself before swinging himself up, stumbling, but managing to stand again. Everything aches, it feels like his clothes have sunken right into his skin- its like the beach all over again.

"Do you have any, like, pain meds?"
terribibble: (absolutely very upsetting)

Strange enough, he hadn't really stopped to consider that the absence of a body might hurt in the same way other changes might. He probably should have, but again, he's not that kind of doctor.

"I -- sure, somewhere, hang on." He slithers over to the mirror above the work sink and pulls it open, revealing a bunch of bottles and some various toiletries. He lives in his workshop, alright, this is the only sink he has access to and so this is where he brushes his teeth. Don't judge.

He plucks one of the bottles off the shelf, shakes it, and then puts it back. Empty. He finds one that still has some pills in it and brings it back over to Robbie, along with a glass of water. Probably shouldn't take painkillers with nothing but that whiskey.

"Here."

Sure, having your body go intangible and having physical things cut through you totally doesn't hurt, so long as it doesn't draw blood. Thanks doctor snake.

That visible heartbeat behind a translucent material one is steady again, which would be comforting if it weren't for the fact that you could see it at all.

"Thanks." He took the bottle in shaky hands, it sinking into his woolen gloves but not passing quite totally through. Its still more frustrating effort to watch him actually take the pills, but it gets done.
terribibble: (his chin goes INSIDE him)

He is trying really, really hard to not look at that heartbeat if he can help it. He focuses instead on Robbie's face, which seems to be staying solid a little more reliably than the rest of him (though who knows how long that'll stay true).

"It might take a second to start feelin' better but hopefully that'll help."

He nodded again slowly, kind of hoping they'd do something at all instead of, heaven forbid, just falling out of his guts. The teen brushed the hair from his face, hands clasped together.

"uh..." Robbie stuck a hand out to the other man. "I'm Robbie."
terribibble: (ur usin a mastercooler rig right)

Oh, right. Manners. A kid falls through your wall, the least you can do is introduce yourself, right?

Fiddleford takes the hand, careful with his claws (because unlike some people his don't retract) and gives it a brief shake. He remembers when he first showed up and he couldn't even bear to do that much with the monsters that introduced themselves to him, so this kid already has a leg up on dealing with the weirdness.

"Fiddleford."

Things are weird (and metal) enough around here that it seems too unreal to distance yourself from everyone you see.

That's a weirdly familiar name, but not one he knows. It could also just be a joke he heard once. "Is that a nickname?"
