TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME: SEPTEMBER

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[Jasper listens to the man at first, but as he keeps going she tunes him out to focus on her own physical issues. He might be offering important information, but right now she doesn't care. There are too many new sensations she has to grow accustomed to, too many parts of herself functioning in ways she's not familiar with, and that makes it even worse. if she doesn't know how this body functions then how is she supposed to know if something is going wrong?

Brushing hair away from her face, she finally pulls herself to her feet where she towers over the blond. Her breaths come heavy and forced because the idea that she'll just perform the act naturally is still strange to her.]

I don't care about your name.

[If he isn't the one who brought her here then he's just background noise.]

Who's in charge?
quietpeacefullife: (concerns)

[personal profile] quietpeacefullife 2016-09-11 11:06 am (UTC)(link)
[He glances up at this hulking woman, feeling a bit uneasy. She reminded him of a stand. Star Platinum or something equally as awful that had hurt him back in Morioh. And his current form hasn't given him any of these "magical" powers that had been promised. If she were to do something like punch him, it'd hurt and there'd be nothing he could do about it.

He takes a wise step back before answering her. He is offended that she has brushed off introductions, that's incredibly rude. But it's not worth being physically assaulted over.]

Whose in charge? The Gods. The Fog Witch brought you here. She's stripped you of your powers, possessions, even pieces of your very soul. And while that is bad the worse is still to come. He wiggles his clawed fingers in her direction to emphasize his point.]
missionfail: (pristine)

There's no such things as gods. That's a human concept.

[Perhaps these "gods" are gems, or things like gems. Though she's never heard of one gem being able to turn another human, she'll accept that possibility over there actually being such things as gods. That was a term for beings that others didn't understand.

She isn't some dumb human who needs to believe in a higher power.]

Whoever she is, I'll just have to find a way to shatter her.
quietpeacefullife: (O H)

[personal profile] quietpeacefullife 2016-09-12 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
[He can't help but let out a huff of laughter at everything she just said. He was no man of God himself. Never had been, never would be. (Despite being a member of the Fourth God).]

If you smash the Fog God, you'd be doing all of us a tremendous favor. So, I wish you luck on that venture. I'll be rooting for you. But, I suggest you start believing in a great deal of things. Starting with the Gods. It makes the entire transition easier.

You said something interesting though.A "human concept". Meaning you're not a human? [Interesting. She was a beast of a woman but definitely human. Human looking at the very least.]
missionfail: (frustrated)

[personal profile] missionfail 2016-09-13 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
No. I'm not a human.

[This is growled out emphatically, fists clenching at her side. It doesn't matter what she looks or feels like now. Her body might say she's human, but she'll always be a gem. She just has to figure out how to return to being one for real.

As for everything else he said, she'll believe what she wants to and she sees little point in arguing with him.]

Are you just here to gawk?
quietpeacefullife: (but muh no weaknesses)

[personal profile] quietpeacefullife 2016-09-13 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Was he hear to gawk? Sort of. Yes. But it was better not to say so.]

You're not human, hm? You look like a human. Well, it's for the best. None of us stay human. But whatever it is you are, you won't stay that either. We all become monsters. At least in the physical sense.

[The words that come out are a bit bitter. He hasn't been here long so it's only natural to be resentful of what had happened to him.]

Enlighten me though. If you're not a human, then what are you?
missionfail: (orange)

[personal profile] missionfail 2016-09-13 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[She can't help but chuckle at that, the sound lacking any mirth. If she isn't a monster already, then what is she?]

I am... was... a gem. I'll be one again if I have anything to say about it.

[Being human is a punishment worse than corruption or shattering. They're weak, frail, short-lived creatures that age rapidly and have to keep themselves continuously fed to even continue their miserable existences. They're filthy and revolting and now that she has a nose of her own being around them will be even worse.]

I won't stay like this.
quietpeacefullife: (pretty face part 2 electric boogaloo)

[personal profile] quietpeacefullife 2016-09-14 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
[Gem? What was a gem? All these western beasts he doesn't really know. Was this one of them? He's unsure. The others sounded somewhat familiar but this has him clueless. He supposes it's unimportant.]

Well, I'll agree with you there. You definitely won't be staying like that. You probably have about a month. Then you'll wish you still had that body, regardless of how you feel about it now.

Your pity party aside... I'm not particularly interested in helping you as I was helped. But I can at least lead you to the city. I've also given you a great deal of information in one big cluster. You'll appreciate that someday. So remember that I helped you. I'll be expecting compensation in the future.
missionfail: (orange)

[personal profile] missionfail 2016-09-14 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Jasper's eyes narrow, and she leans down so her face is closer to Kira's.]

Compensation?

[She snorts. She doesn't mean to so she hates it because human noses are terrible.]

If you want compensation then you ask for that before you give the information, not after. I didn't call you over here and I didn't force you to tell me anything. I owe you nothing.

[And she won't be asking him questions in the future if that's how it's going to be.]
quietpeacefullife: (look at my tie dude)

[personal profile] quietpeacefullife 2016-09-15 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh...

This is a very frightening, very unattractive woman.]

You bring up a good point... [He takes a careful step back.] But it's tit for tat, you see. Even if it was an act of kindness, those things are repaid. And you don't ask for acts of kindness. Clearly, you're not originally human or you would know such a basic thing.
missionfail: (ha)

[personal profile] missionfail 2016-09-16 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Is that the way you think acts of kindness work?

[Jasper shakes her head, honestly a little amused.]

If you expect payment then it isn't an act of kindness. Even I know that. Doing something just to be kind means you don't expect anything but the knowledge that you've done a good deed.

[Say what you want about gem society, but that stands true even with them.]

How about I "repay" you by not tearing your arms off?

[Not that she's aware of the strength difference between a typical monster and a human.]
