TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!
SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.
SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
Ashe | Final Fantasy XII
[Ashe blinks a few times, then closes her eyes again, listening. She'd seen that it was night - maybe she'd be lucky and have some time to get her bearings before seeing anyone else - but not much more than that. She knows the feeling of wet sand, and the sound of the waves would tell her she's on the Phon Coast. Did the Mist drag her all the way there? She didn't think it could do that. Slowly, after stilling her thoughts and forcing herself to calm, she stands. Looking around, ice snakes through her stomach as she realizes that no, this isn't the Phon Coast at all.
She starts walking away from the beach, willing herself not to panic. That won't change anything. She starts walking along the rod nearby, when a noise almost makes her jump out of her skin. She stops, and looks over her shoulder. The moon is bright enough, buf had she missed something? Or had she heard nothing at all, and her mind was playing tricks? There was only one way to find out.]
Is someone there?
[02]
[What kind of place has she found herself in? Eat people? She'd never known a magick that would inflict that particular desire. She tries to ignore it, and tries to ignore the not-as-friendly types. What strikes her about the pamphlets is that she can read them at all.
But those not-so-friendly types aren't going to give her a moment of peace - rightly, she supposes, if what it says in the pamphlets are true. She's weaponless, and she doesn't want to risk magick or calling Belias in this unfamiliar place. She doesn't want to turn her back to them, either. It isn't a big mob, by any means, but its size is a little... inconvenient. Her back isn't yet to a wall, and she figures she has nothing to lose if she attempts parley. She stares them down.]
Calm yourselves. I mean you no harm.
[Her voice doesn't waver; it comes out just like she'd wanted.]
-- 01 --
He can hack away all the monster parts to try and appear normal but there are some things he can't fix.
But there are some things that don't need to be... There are some slight benefits.
His Goblin abilities allow him to see exceptionally well in the darkness. And low and behold, there was someone along the beach. A very strange occurrence. The living are rare along the coast as his roommate Katsuie has long since removed them. Every now and then stragglers roll in.
He's perched himself on the dock but he removes himself to meet this little mystery girl on the shore. It seems one of his cats has spooked her. They go out at night with him and attempt to catch fish or some other tasty treat that might wash up upon the shore.
She's rather fortunate, he looks normal and dresses nice. He's suffered greatly to appear as normal as possible. Bandaged hands (and other bits) were a small price to pay in his attempt to have a quiet peaceful life. You could say she's lucky, but she's about to run into him.]
It's just me. [He calls out and raises a hand to her, so not to cause further alarm.] And the cats. They're all friendly so there's nothing to be afraid of. We're all just a bit surprised. We don't see many come up the shoreline.
no subject
Is this a particularly isolated beach?
no subject
[So dramatic but he was only telling it as his roommate had described it. Apparently Katsuie had gone off at some point and slaughtered all those that lived around the docks. And now they were empty and he proclaimed himself ruler over them. Ridiculous but true.]
I am one of two subjects, apparently. Oh. And all the cats are part of it too, I guess. But past the empty docks is the city of Vandare full of lovely people all alive and well. You're better off there than here. I can lead you there, if you like. Wandering won't do you any favors.
no subject
I... see.
[So she'd wound up somewhere dangerous. She's not sure what she'd expected, honestly. On a strange beach at night in the middle of nowhere, with the possibility that the town that had been here was another necrohol... even with him here, her wariness doesn't dissipate.]
Company would be appreciated, if it is not an inconvenience. My name is Amalia.
[It slides off her tongue just as if it were her real name.]
no subject
My name is Kira Yoshikage, I'm thirty three years old, unmarried, and I used to work as a business man in a small town called Morioh in the country of Japan. [He walks towards her as he talks, his gaze seeking out her hands. That's the most important part of a girl after all. Although, taking one of the Fog God's newest toys would probably bring more harm than good in the long run. He should stick to the regular villagers... It's a shame. She's very pretty.]
I've unfortunately been here for two months. But... you inevitably get used to it. I suppose. I imagine it just depends on who you run into when you first start out. You've met me, so you're lucky. [He approaches her and offers a smile, sharp fangs gleaming in the dim light] All women who meet me are.
[He gestures for her to follow.] Vandare is this way. Towards the docks and then the city. It isn't terribly far.
no subject
A pleasure, Mr. Yoshikage. [The name is strange on her tongue. She hopes she doesn't mangle it too badly.] What manner of city is Vandare?
no subject
Vandare is a port town that has recently gone through an economic boom. So while it deals with success in some areas, other parts struggle. Typical in situations like that. One section flurishes and the rest is left to decay. So most who arrive head to the next town over, Bavan. It's much larger and has more to offer. But this as good a place to any to start.
It's very western... very different from my own home. All of us that washed up here come from different times and places. Your garments aren't something I recognize from a period in history. So perhaps you come from a magical realm like my fr--acquaintance? If so you may find it jarring. I know he did.

Yue glances at the humans, winged arms still half-spread, before turning his attention to the girl instead.]
Um--hello! You should probably run.
no subject
And leave you to them?
no subject
[Is he really though? He can't actually fight off a mob, small though it is; more likely he'll run as soon as she's gotten a good head start. Still, he gives the humans another hurried glance, flapping his arms at them in hopes they'll stay distracted a little longer.]
...I could probably give you a few minutes, at least.
no subject
Good luck to you.
[And she's off, toward what looked like an open way away.]
no subject
Which way did she go? Was it that way? He goes up as high as he can, barely dodging some rocks and things as he escapes. Maybe she'll be somewhere safe by now...but what if she isn't? He can't help worrying as he flies off in search of the girl.]
