TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME: SEPTEMBER

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

2; This isn't Kansas

[Ginko reads the pamphlet in her hand again. It was utter nonsense. What was all of these 'monsters'? Bears were the biggest threat to humans, weren't they? Werebear, though. She was one of those already, wasn't she?

Tilting her head she sniffs the air. It's strangely... scentless. It's something that makes her shiver slightly. This entire area should be rich in smells and sounds. Yet, there it was. It wasn't.]

Growl... This place is weird.

4; Wildcard

[The fog a few days ago had brought changes, yes. Black fur was beginning to sprout on the back of her neck, extending down her back. The headache of the little bumps jutting out of her hair were annoying. Ginko had nearly rubbed the spot raw with her long (if ultimately dull) fingernails.

At least a wash had gotten most of the blood out. Most.

Though, what she had decided was a good thing about these changes? Was the return of her senses. Once more she could smell the pleasures of the city. To enjoy the particular scents of crowded areas and--is she heading towards a lone woman.

Sniffing the air she says:]

Growl.

[The woman blinks as Ginko continues.] You smell good.

I wouldn't believe everything in that pamphlet. [Don't mind the 6'3" featureless shadow being with glowing eyes and the lack of facial movement when he speaks.] There's a lot of misinformation in there.

[He shakes his head before letting out a chuckle.] You think this is weird now? Wait until the "deities" get involved and you change in to another species.
lycoctonum: (Coupons? For salmon?!)

[personal profile] lycoctonum 2016-09-09 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
[... Okay, that's going to get a sniff and then she' stepping backwards. She's still almost expresionless, though. Except maybe a slight arch to her eyebrows.]

Deities? [Like Kumaria. Wasn't she the only one? Something seems wrong about that but well.] ...I'm assuming you mean without you asking them to, growl.
dominateartimus: (I have no regrets)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2016-09-09 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
[He's not bothered by the sniff or the fact she takes a step away from him. It's her comment about him being in touch with the "gods" that causes his wisps to shift with slight annoyance.]

Very funny. [The shade states flatly.] There's four or five powerful beings that call themselves "gods". Two of them will get to know you real soon.
lycoctonum: (Alpine Grizzly)

[personal profile] lycoctonum 2016-09-09 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
Who said that was a joke? [Just because they do things without asking didn't make them less of gods. Just more of jerks than anything. Jerky gods but still gods.] If that's what it is, though, then things make a lot more sense.

[She gives another 'growl' under her breath, though. These weren't like Kumaria thought they had similar powers.]
dominateartimus: (Defensive)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2016-09-09 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
Because you assumed that-- [Wait. He misheard her and thought she assumed he kept in touch the "gods" when that wasn't the case. Well, except for one. He runs a thumb over hipbone, despite it being covered with pants. A small scoff slips out and shakes his head.] Nevermind.

Anyway, avoid the northern section of Vandare. The residents aren't exactly fond of foreigners.

[personal profile] lycoctonum 2016-09-09 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[A slight tilt of her head. Oh well.] That's what the wall is for, isn't it?

[To keep people out. That... that is severely tempting, though.]
dominateartimus: (I wouldn't agree)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2016-09-09 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
To keep "monsters" out, mainly. [He rolls his eyes, even though the motion goes unseen except for the slight movement of his head.] They're afraid of becoming someone's next meal.

Bavan is more receptive to new arrivals and "monsters". There's plenty to do as well, if you like big, bustling cities.
lycoctonum: (Druid's Familiar)

[personal profile] lycoctonum 2016-09-10 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like this Bavan is a more foolish place. [Not... that she's complaining. It might be easier there. Less guards. Less rifles. Maybe Kureha would be there...

She looks around the area.]
I'd rather not stay near walls, growl.

[Too familiar. Too dangerous for now.]
dominateartimus: (How silly)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2016-09-10 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
[That definitely gets a laugh out of him.] Really? So you prefer being hated and hunted instead of being welcomed and adored?

[The shade notes her comment about staying away from walls before turning and pointing towards the general direction of a bus terminal.]

If you plan on leaving this city, there's a bus that can take you somewhere else.
lycoctonum: (Golden Bear)

[personal profile] lycoctonum 2016-09-10 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
I prefer to be ignored by the crowds, growl. [Bavan sounds like an easy place, though. Probably full of cute girls just ready to be found. She gives a casual shrug. There's a small smile on her lips now.] We're their hunters now, right? They have every right to hate us but I think it'd be smarter to hide in a place that could let me live in peace.

[She notes the bus, though.]
dominateartimus: (Talking plans)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2016-09-10 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
You will, but it won't last. So, enjoy it while you can. [He gives a slight shrug and lowers his hand back to his side.] Not everyone agrees with that, but you're free to do as you please.

[The shade starts to walk away.] Maybe someone will be generous to share their home with you or you can seek out a being whose name is written in a scroll.
me_underfire: (What!?)

[The woman in question is a freshly-dead wendigo who's doused herself in perfume in anticipation of the inevitable smell of rot. Although Grace sincerely hopes it's the perfume she's smelling, she's a little weirded out by this stranger sniffing her out of nowhere.]

Uh, thanks? Do you greet everyone like this?
lycoctonum: (Ashcoat Bear)

[personal profile] lycoctonum 2016-09-09 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Considering that Ginko's a wendigo herself albeit one that's not dead yet, it might be actually even weirder. Unfortunately... it's not the perfume. It's the underlying scent, not of rot but the personal scent and--]

... Ah. [She steps backwards. Right. Humans don't do that, do they?] I couldn't help myself...
me_underfire: (Typity typity type)

[personal profile] me_underfire 2016-09-09 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
You couldn't- ah, right, it's your senses, isn't it? Lucky you, all I got was a heart attack and a splitting headache.
lycoctonum: (River Bear)

[personal profile] lycoctonum 2016-09-09 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it is. [Except that it's just the fact she's finally glad being able to smell again like she used to.] Growl... I have a headache, too. [She moves her hair slightly to show the nubs of her antlers.]
me_underfire: (Typity typity type)

[personal profile] me_underfire 2016-09-10 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, we match. You know, those are really going to hurt the more they come in. I'd recommend an ice pack.

[She can't believe she's trading notes on how to deal with antlers. This is her life now, she supposes.]
lycoctonum: (Ashcoat Bear)

[personal profile] lycoctonum 2016-09-11 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
Right. Ice... [Ice is a thing that can be used, yes. Ginko looks down slightly.] It's not so bad now, though.

[Says the person who's been shot repeatedly.]
