TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

• You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
• We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!

• The Reserve date is MAY 20ST 12:01AM EST.
• There is an Enable Me / App this Plz to see what some people are offering or would love to play.
• Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
• Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR: The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[A small, very un-horse-like squeak escapes Makoto when Ingway speaks up from the tree, causing him to spin around with his tail nervously flicking against his haunches. While he might be a monster, the skittishness of a kelpie really doesn't mesh well with his normal demeanor. It's turned him into an anxious mess, these days, even though he's got the strength now to combat that.

Even moreso, since he was already pretty big before.]

I...I figured. Are you lost, too?

Would I have called out to you if I was?

[While he is still up in the tree it's clear he's not a monster- or is a monster that passes easily, such as a vampire.]

Personally I like not being anyone's dinner.

[overwhalemed]

Heh? O-oh, no, I'm not-

[Well...for one, Makoto doesn't have his hunger yet, so the fact that he will isn't something he likes to be reminded of.

He shifts nervously on his hooves, bringing his hands up to clasp them together before himself.]

I'm not going to eat you. I'm just trying to find my way out, too.

[darkova]

Hmmm.

[The fact that Makoto might not have the hunger, or be one of those that avoids killing, doesn't matter. Because his word is worthless. Ingway does stand though, one hand on the trunk, balancing carefully on the branch]

A potent lure, certainly. I have no reason to believe you- or not.

[overwhalemed]

[Makoto blinks owlishly at Ingway, then. He does have a point, anyway.]

If...if I were going to eat you, wouldn't I have attacked you before you noticed me?

[Nevermind the fact that Ingway noticed him first.]

[darkova]

I could smell you coming. You reek of rotting sea plants.

[He sounds kinda amused by this fact]

[overwhalemed]

Oh. S-sorry.

[Makoto, don't apologize...]

I...that's been a thing for a while now.

[darkova]

[This time he does laugh lightly- he had heard kelpies were anxious, but this is almost cute]

Don't apologize for what our dear Gray Lady has done to you. You might as well apologize for breathing.

[overwhalemed]

I guess you believe the whole monster thing, then.

[Makoto had been terrified at first, but also understandably skeptical. It wasn't until he ran into people he knew very well from home having turned into monsters themselves that he came to the realization that this was a lot more real than he wanted it to be.]

[darkova]

It's hard to deny what's right in front of your eyes. Curses are nothing to jest over.

[overwhalemed]

I guess so. If that's the case, then...why are you out here?

[You know you're tempting fate as a non-monster yourself, friend.]

[darkova]

[Oops, caught. He looks away to hide his pursed lips]

I was seeking ingredients and... miss judged the time.

[ 'Got lost']

[overwhalemed]

Ingredients?

[In the forest? Well, he has heard of people getting tasks from Mana before...but if this person is still human, they can't have been here long enough for that, right?]

[darkova]

In my homeland making potions and the like is commonplace. I was attempting to recreate them here.

[If he didn't have to depend on this Mana person he didn't want to]

[overwhalemed]

I see...

[Potions, then...he can't imagine what kind of place this person might come from.]

Well...are you still looking? If not, you can come with me if you want. We can find the way out together.

[darkova]

[He tilts his head, pondering. And decides to take a risk. He jumps down, landing with a slight grunt but no other issues, and offers his hand... though his other is in his cloak. He's not even trying to hide it- let this beast know he is willing to pull a weapon if he makes a wrong move]

Very well then. I'm Cornelius.

[overwhalemed]

[Oh. That's...a little surprising, but Makoto isn't going to be rude just because he's nervous. So, with a bit of a jerky nod of his head, he takes Ingway's hand in turn.]

Tachibana Makoto. It's nice to meet you. Ah...well, it would be nicer if it were under better circumstances.

[darkova]

Of course. But be aware I will not hesitate to defend myself.

[overwhalemed]

O-oh, uh...that's okay. Like I said, I'm not going to attack you or anything.

We should get going before it starts getting dark, though.

[He can't say a different monster won't come eat him instead.]

[darkova]

The question is: do you have an idea which way to go?

[overwhalemed]

Ahh...well, I was just going to keep going this way.

[He points in the direction he had been going before.]

I don't think I've made any turns since I came in here, at least.

[darkova]

Odds are you have though. Even without whatever curse that is turning us around it's almost impossible to not tilt your course.

[He ponders- he had been content to wait it out till the next day, when he was sure the curse would be less potent. But with two of them, maybe....]

First we should confirm North.

[overwhalemed]

[Well that would be simple enough if...Makoto had a compass. Or anything close to it. But luckily, his family has been camping before, so he knows enough to start searching for where the sun is.]

Let's see...I came here around midday, so...

[He nods in the direction that's at a bit of a Y from where he'd been headed.]
