TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

• You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
• We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
• Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.


• The Reserve date is MAY 20ST 12:01AM EST.
• There is an Enable Me / App this Plz to see what some people are offering or would love to play.
• Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
• Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR: The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[as predicted, Osomatsu can reach right through Jyushimatsu, which makes the younger brother a little sad]

Um. Sometimes! Usually in the daytime. But at night, I'm completely made of shadow!

[Once Osomatsu's hand goes right through Jyushimatsu, he retracts it pretty quickly with a bit of a disturbed look on his face.]

Uwah...

[It's a little creepy, honestly. Being able to just.. shove your hand right through a guy. But it's not like it's Jyushimatsu's fault that he's made up of mostly shadow, and actually he looks to be a bit down about it. Though who can really blame him? It's probably pretty lonely, not being able to really touch anything...

Osomatsu stares at Jyushimatsu contemplatively for a moment, before he reaches with his hand again, shoving it right through Jyushimatsu's chest. He gives his brother a smile, and waves his arm around comically while he speaks.]

Hey, it's pretty cool though! D'you know what kinda pranks you could pull on people, being able to go through stuff like this? Like one of us could hide behind you until someone walks by, and then we could burst outta your chest like that one movie or... or you could shove your head through the bathroom wall right when Choromatsu's about to take a dump!

It opens up a whole new world of gags!

[oh, Osomatsu. always with the jokes, huh? at least he does enough to make Jyushimatsu smile, but he doesn't laugh. not yet]

Yeah, I played a few pranks on my own! And sometimes, not even on purpose! I don't have to use doors anymore, and I can fit into places a lot of people can't go! ...Oh! And I can shapeshift! [that was actually pretty damn cool]

[He doesn't get Jyushimatsu to laugh, but that smile is enough to make Osomatsu's own smile look a little more genuine.]

Shapeshift? Y'mean like... you can turn into other people and animals and stuff?

[neetfreak]

[Jyushimatsu nods, marbles rattling around inside his head (???)]

Yeah! Yesterday, I turned into a chicken!

[to demonstrate, Jyushimatsu takes a step back and closes his eyes. soon, he is enveloped in black, shadow, and that shadow shrinks down until the form of a chicken is in his place. it's still all shadowy, with glowing eyes, but it is clearly chicken-shaped]

[Osomatsu lets out a gasp, and reaches out with his hands to pick his new, cute lil' chicken brother up but his hands.. go right through him...

But! It doesn't seem to deter Osomatsu even a little, as he just moves his hands to hold the sides of his head as if he's seeing something absolutely incredible]

Uwahh, it's true!

[His expression turns serious, and he leans forward towards his brother with a determined look in his eyes.]

Do you realize what this means, Jyushimatsu?!

[neetfreak]

[oh! that determined look! Jyushimatsu responds with a serious look of his own, flapping his wings]

No idea, Osomatsu-niisan!

[titularly]

[This is where Osomatsu would put his hand on Jyushimatsu's shoulder... IF HE HAD ONE--]

It means you can shapeshift into me, Jyushimatsu!

[wait]

Think about it! We'll fool everyone into thinking we're each other -- it'll be a huge hit!

The prank of the century!

[Jyushimatsu blinks slowly, considering. and then]

But. I already look like you, niisan.

[as if to prove his point, he shifts back into Jyushimatsu. really, they have the same face, man]

Eh?

[It takes him a moment, but the realization hits and a big, sheepish grin spreads across Osomatsu's face.]

O-oh, that's right, ain't it? It's been so long since I've seen any of you guys that I completely forgot!

[A giggle escapes from him then, and he jokingly knocks a hand against his skull.]

Your nii-san's just a big dumbass, Jyushimatsu... there's absoluuuutely nothing up in here!

Sometimes, I believe it, niisan! [brutal honesty here. but then he's laughing. honest to God, laughing like he hasn't done in a while.

to joke around with his brother this way is... well, it's pretty great. it makes up for a lot of the hardships he's had to endure]

[Ah, there it is. That's what Osomatsu's been looking for... that genuine, heartfelt laugh.

Osomatsu's expression softens a little at the sight of Jyushimatsu laughing, and it really isn't long before he lets himself join his little brother in the laughter.]

Ahh.. seriously... it's been way too long since I've been able to joke around like this.

[Really, it's only been a couple of months since Osomatsu had arrived in Ryslig but.. a couple of months can feel like years, when you've spent them alone.]

The other people here are all sticks in the mud! They just get mad at me when I wanna joke around...

[Jyushimatsu hasn't been in Ryslig that long, either. it's been more than a few months, though, and that's a long time to be away from your family, especially if you're used to seeing them everyday]

I don't think this is a good place to play jokes, niisan. Everything here is too serious.

Are you kidding? This is just the kind of place where jokes are needed most!

[Osomatsu looks serious again, and he folds his arms across his chest while he speaks.]

Like... if you were growing a pair of horns, you could say something like "man, I sure am feeling horny right now!"

Or since we're comedians, we can make a one-liner about our prey like... "you're the one that tastes funny now!", or something.

[that horny line gets Jyushimatsu to laugh again. yeah! dirty humor is awesome!]

Or maybe I could shift into a giant dick! Or boobs! [honestly, why hadn't he tried that already?

[As the older brother, it's Osomatsu's job to not encourage this kind of childish behaviour in his little brothers.]

Now you're talking, Jyushimatsu!

[It's too bad Osomatsu wasn't a good older brother.]

You gotta save turning into a dick for when Chorofappyski gets here, okay?!

[Jyushimatsu salutes] Roger! [now Jyushimatsu knows what he needs to practice. oh man, Choromatsu would be so mad!] Hey, hey, niisan! Can you do anything cool with your monster powers?

[titularly]

[Osomatsu's mischevious grin shifts into a more curious look, and he pauses for a moment with his gaze towards the sky.]

Me?

[Lets see... powers... powers.... what has he done with them recently beyond running around asking for money--]

Oh! I can shapeshift, too!

[He says that with a smile again, and leans towards his little brother.]

Wanna see?

[ooh! Jyushimatsu claps his hands eagerly] Yeah, show me, show me!

[Osomatsu gets to his feet then, taking a couple steps back from his brother.]

Prepare yourself, Jyushimatsu!

[Suddenly, he raises his arms above his head, and begins to raise his voice as well.]

Because... here... I.... gooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO--

[titularly]

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO---

[titularly]

[He stops, for dramatic effect.]

[titularly]

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

[As he roars, his form starts to shift like he says and pretty soon he's... he's...!]

[titularly]

[Turned into.. a small, fluffy red panda.]

So? Whaddya think?

[He whips his tail around a couple times, to show his excitement.]

Pretty cool, right?!

[with all that build-up, Jyushimatsu was expecting something giant, like a big monster! but instead, Osomatsu has changed into something adorable.

well, most people might be let down by this, but Jyushimatsu is enthralled. he coos, reaching down to try and pet Osomatsu] Awww! Fluffy niisan! [he just wants to pick Osomatsu up and cuddle him! but he can't really hold things at night] You're so cute!
