Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
SCENARIO FOUR: The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.
Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

Lorna weighs the two choices inside her head, watching as the scales tip in favor of the latter. Perhaps she is simply too trusting for her own good, or perhaps the prospect of being lost and alone in the woods is somehow more terrifying than the idea of killed and eaten (and not necessarily in that order.)
Or maybe it's a mix of the two - with a sheltered girl like Lorna, it's difficult to tell.
"I wouldn't want to impose..." She admits cautiously, hesitant to say "yes" outright. "But if you wouldn't mind my company, I would gladly follow you."

She's silent for a while, keeping an ear out for menacing sounds. But there's nothing in the trees except regular birds, and all the soft crunching is coming from her footsteps and Lorna's. They're alone out here for now, which is great, but also-- look, she's not any better at small talk now than she was when it was two brothers she was leading through the woods. But the quiet is getting awkward and this girl's probably going to get spooked and run off, and get eaten, and then Beatrice is going to feel bad.
"So... what'd they tell you when you woke up?"
Yes, excellent. Points for trying, Beatrice.
no subject
Not that she's scared, of course. Perish the thought.
"A great many things, few of them good." She can't help but glance over her shoulder every now and again, her dark eyes darting quickly here and there in search of any nasty beasties that may be lurking in the shadows.
"They told me I was afflicted, or - or cursed, though I suppose the difference means little." She glances downward, carefully stepping over a gnarled root, before looking back to Beatrice. Or, well, her back.
Her wing-clad back.
Goodness gracious, that's going to take some getting used to.
"Either way, the end is all the same. I will become a -" She pauses, realizing that there's no polite word to describe her future condition, considering pleasant company. She can't very well use a word like monster or beast around someone who has good reason to take offense, now can she?
"--A creature. A creature with a most terrible appetite."
Her arms fold over themselves, wrapping tightly around her middle as she holds herself close, as if caught by a sudden chill.
"...They spoke true, didn't they? This is my lot. As it had been, so again will it be."
no subject
Beatrice stops with no warning, whipping her head around to look at Lorna. Her gaze is intense, curious and oddly hopeful. It's not every day she meets someone who's been cursed before. It's not any day, it's never happened, and the fact that there might be someone else who understands is exciting in a small, strange way.
"Again? This happened to you back home?"
no subject
She very nearly walks straight into Beatrice when the other girl stops short, and it's thanks only to a quick backwards movement on Lorna's part that they don't wind up colliding like marbles.
She murmurs a quick and quiet apology, despite no harm being done, and takes a step backwards to put a more comfortable distance between the two of them.
"A-aye. Ever since I was a girl, I had been ill. A terrible hunger would overcome me and I would become...warped, driven to wickedness. I-in many ways, I was then such as you are now."
And there it is, a note of sympathy in her voice, a sad sort of understanding that comes only from knowing all too well how terrible someone else's plight truly is.
no subject
"Right, yeah, whatever.Had been ill? As in you lifted the curse somehow before you showed up here?"
It's a long shot, and it's not like scissors worked, but... it would stupid not to hear how she got out of it, right? Of course.
no subject
And then she nearly devoured them when the spirit took hold of her, but Lorna would much rather never think about that ever again.
"...And what happened then matters little now. Now I am here, and soon his efforts will be all for naught."
no subject
She almost asks immediately about the boy-- if it was Wirt, was the boy wearing a stupid hat? But Beatrice stops herself. It's not priority. She needs to know about the curse, not this girl's social circle. And.... and it couldn't possibly have been Wirt, there's no way this was the other girl he mentioned ages ago. If he knew how to break a curse that causes cannibalism he would have said something. Beatrice shakes her head, takes a second to regain her composure before resuming the questions.
"That's just how it works here. Are you sure you don't know how he did it?"
no subject
Well.
That sure is a good impression of a fish, alright. Spot on, really. Now if Lorna could just figure out what it is she said to make Beatrice decide to become one with her inner beached-bass, that would be great.
"Oh, aye, that I know." She replies, nodding quickly. "There was a bell, you see, an enchanted bell that my Aunt--"
She pauses, trailing off as it dawns on her why Beatrice would ask about this in the first place. Her eyes go a little wide, her fingers moving to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear as she tries not to feel too slow for not realizing where this line of questioning was headed before now.
"...I'm so sorry, I've gone and raised your hopes, haven't I?"
