TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!

Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR: The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[So, the exact opposite of what he's used to? This is getting weirder by the second...

But instead of letting it upset him, the boy's smile returns.]

I guess I'll just hafta' be used to monsters for both of us, then!

[And then he's extending a hand for Jyushi to shake, flashing him a gap-toothed grin.]

My name's Jimmy Two-Shoes! What's yours?

[it is weird... but at least the boy seems friendly, and it's a lot easier to talk to him than it is with the townsfolk. Jimmy's smile is enough to make Jyushi smile in return, though it's a bit more subdued than his usual smiles. really, he'd feel a lot better if he saw a brother around]

I'm Jyushimatsu. [he almost bows, then realizes the boy is reaching out for a shake. so Jyushi will shake too!] So you're not from here, either?

Nope! I dunno how I got here at all!

[He says, all while shaking Jyushimatsu's hand vigorously.]

And it sounds like a lotta other people are having the same problem...so I really dunno what that's all about. But I keep thinking...maybe I just got turned around somewhere? That's happened before...

...but I guess it wouldn't explain how you got to Miseryville, Jyushimatsu.

[this Jimmy kid seems all right. he's got a good handshake, and Jyushi's is just as vigorous, despite his sour mood. once they are done shaking, he leans back a bit, bringing up his hand to his chin to rub thoughtfully]

Let's see. I remember playing in that tournament, and then we were floating through space... And after that, I woke up here!

Wooah, space? That's awesmazing! I've been to space too!

[Jimmy, is now really the best time for this?

...well, yes. His goal is to make his new friend feel better, so darn it that's what he's going to do.]

There was a rocket ship and everything! And then I got to go to the moon...it was super cool.

Yeah! Space is fun! [and just like that, Jyushimatsu is bouncing back. all he needed was a little push in the positive direction] Last time I was there, my brothers and I were playing baseball against these aliens!

Wow! Did you guys win?

[Clearly, this is the most important thing here.]

No! We lost! We lost horribly!

[he says with a smile]

[WHOOPS]

Aw, that sucks...but at least you got to go to space, right? That makes up for it, I'd say!

[As Jimmy talks, he turns away from the water, trying to see if Jyushimatsu will follow.]

[yep, he's following so that they can continue talking. it appears the danger has passed, for now]

I guess so! What did you do in space?

[That's a relief, because Jimmy likes seeing his new friend smiling more than he does frowning.]

Well, I went to the moon, like I said! Did you know there's moon-monsters living up there on the moon, cause I sure didn't! They're really cool!

[oh, yes! Jimmy did say that! but Jyushimatsu had been distracted. he still kind of is]

Moon-monsters? And you weren't scared?

No way! I mean, there's people just like that down in Miseryville too, so it actually wasn't all that different...makes me wonder how they got up on the moon like that, though!

[Maybe Lucius got mad at them and had them blasted into space? He wouldn't be surprised.]

[what a name for a town! Miseryville. this poor kid!]

I've heard of the rabbit in the moon, and the man in the moon, but never the monster in the moon! I hope someday I'll get to go to the moon too! [then he can be the Matsu in the moon!]

That'd be super cool, wouldn't it? If you went to space once, then maybe you'll get to go again!

[Of course, that involves...not being HERE, first.]

So, what's your home like, Jyushimatsu?

[they are far from the docks now, heading back toward town] Mm, I would say my home was normal, but it doesn't have monsters! I live in a place called Japan! It's really big, and kind of noisy!

[....what's a Japan.]

Woooah, I've never heard'a Japan before! It sounds really cool! You don't got any monsters at all?

Well, I mean... I guess we have monsters! Like Mothra and Godzilla! But they're not real.

They sound rad though! What else does Japan have, if you guys don't have monsters?

[what else does Japan have... what doesn't it have? that's a pretty broad question! Jyushimatsu thinks for a moment. and then he answers with]

Robots. We have cool robots!

[of all the things he could have said...]

[Jyushi...]

Robots?! Really?? Japan sounds like one of the coolest places ever!

It's okay, I guess! It's a lot different from this place...
