TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

• You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
• We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
• Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.


• The Reserve date is MAY 20ST 12:01AM EST.
• There is an Enable Me / App this Plz to see what some people are offering or would love to play.
• Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
• Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR: The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

I don't really have anything to trade either, though...I sorta just got here!

[He has a low threshold for dealing with anything regarding the Seven Seas Alliance to begin with, but this is just ridiculous. Maybe this is some strange alternate world, but that doesn't give some brat from Heliohapt the right to talk to a prince of Kou like this. And it's not like his rank isn't obvious, even if his metal vessels are suspiciously absent.]

I'll decide what I want to read and what I don't.

[Has he seen this kid before? He looks vaguely familiar for some reason. Not that there's a possibility that recognizing him would make feel any more charitable towards him. That possibility reached zero pretty fast.]

No, it would be better if you got something cute. [Light agrees that Misa's charm is important, especially if she would be useful here. Since she no longer had the Note, she no longer had her eyes, and her fame didn't follow. Like Light, she'll have to build reputation from the ground up. In a month, there would be some kind of change, something about her looks that will degrade. So far, it does seem inevitable. Of course, Light might find a cure in that time, but it's best to plan for the worst, not hope for the best.] But monster transformations are hardly cute. We'll have to plan around your changes when they happen.

The city itself is quite old fashioned, especially compared to what the two of them know. Light does have the ability to use rings to teleport them, but he would have to remove one of his current three, and it's good for Misa to get a look at her new surroundings.]

You're in Ryslig now, Bavan specifically. It's not a world that most people would know us, but L is also here.

[Would that surprise her? Would she think him dead? If she didn't, would that mean she wasn't from a future, or that his plan had failed?]

[Out in the fog is one fully transformed snake boy, who carries a lantern that cuts through the haze - seriously, it doesn't touch where the light goes, like a kind of ward. It gently illuminates his features... goggles pulled down tightly over his right eye, but his left eye is where his mouth should be. A live snake for a nose. A nose and mouth on his stomach, framed by his ears. So if he's ever wanted to literally kick someone's ass because he didn't like their face, this might be a good candidate. On the other hand, maybe stealing the clearly magical artifact would be an even better motive. But on the third hand (which Yuya has because his rattle is shaped like one), he looks kind of pathetic so maybe it's not worth it?

Either way, Yuya sees this guy on the warpath and frowns - not that you could tell on his rearranged face. He turns the lantern on him, just to make sure he isn't a hunter. But no. That's definitely a monster. Most newbies are too busy suffering to rampage, so he assumes something has brought this on.]

Hey... what's the matter? Is something going on?

[He had intended to just fly by and leave the guy be. But once he started transforming Takumi couldn't just leave. What if the guy needs help? Or goes nuts and starts hunting someone out of hunger induced madness?

So he perched on the tree above him and watched, his harpy eyesight sharp enough to see all the details without being noticed right away.

[Well, no. He does, sort of — the wings, the talons, he can see those. The others he hasn't.

But he's so caught up in considering that, the things at his disposal that he can use to keep Polnareff safe, that he barely even notices the part about how he doesn't have to, and shouldn't have to either.]

Well, maybe I can be the first cute monster! I mean, with a little bit of makeup, a nice enough outfit, enough persistence and a good personality...

[ At least she's trying to remain optimistic! While this definitely isn't anything like Tokyo, at least it doesn't seem like too terrible of a place, now that she sees what's around her. ]

[ She scowls, more frustrated with herself than anything...it doesn't look like she's surprised, though. For some reason, they just can't seem to shake him. ...Actually, on that note, let's look around for just a bit and keep our voices low before muttering out... ]

I still can't believe I forgot his name...if I remembered, maybe you wouldn't have to deal with this right now. ...Actually, you haven't seen Rem around or anything, have you? Normally, she'd be following me, but, I can't find her anywhere...

[this Jimmy kid seems all right. he's got a good handshake, and Jyushi's is just as vigorous, despite his sour mood. once they are done shaking, he leans back a bit, bringing up his hand to his chin to rub thoughtfully]

Let's see. I remember playing in that tournament, and then we were floating through space... And after that, I woke up here!

[He says it firmly-- and now he turns to look at Jotaro, his gaze firm.]

You aren't in charge of keeping me safe and sound-- don't insult me like that, Jotaro, you know better.

[He understands it, of course-- he feels the same way about Giorno, about Jotaro himself, about Mista and Mr Joestar and everyone he's ever known. But that's not how it works, not for any of them, and the sooner Jotaro understands that, the better.]

Jimmy lifts his head from the ground, spitting and shaking himself a little with a flare of his newly grown wings.]

Yesss. [Reaching out, she accepts the medicine.] Does this make you some kind of traveling nurse? Not that I'm complaining.

[Sam twists open the bottle and shakes two of the pills into her hand.] Wait... this stuff is approved, right? What kind of health system did they have back... now?

[Now that's what she likes to see! She takes a moment to shift back to her more human (but still very bird) form, excitement on her face. It's hard not to be excited when someone else is this excited about something.]

I bet you could! I've never been a shade before but I don't think there are any rules that say you can't! If you've got determination, I bet just about anything is possible!

[Mabel is probably the best but also the worst person to talk to about monsters. What? Painful, scary transformations? Eating humans? Potentially killing your friends and family?

Okay, sure, but consider: everything else is awesome and that invalidates all your arguments.]

[Osomatsu's enthusiasm only exceeds ten-fold when he watches Jimmy turn on his heel and start digging into his pockets. This guy looked like a total sucker, so he was expecting him to pull out something good but....

Ehhhh? More of those flyer things? Seriously...?

[His excitement is dashed upon the sight of those pamphlets being held out for him to take.

He sneers at Jimmy and waves one of his hands dismissively, his other hand resting on his hip for now.]

If you ain't got anything good, then don't bother! I've already got enough of those things to make a house outta them if I wanted to.

[Sorry Jimmy, he's not coming down THERE just yet. He's not exactly hidden though- a giant silvery-brown bird guy isn't exactly stealthy. With his long fluffy 'hair' and feathered feet he looks like a mix between a small bird of prey and a... chicken.]

[The sound of a rattle gets Osomatsu's attention, and he stops flailing around to look for the source until he hears the sound of the hunter's weapons falling to the ground in front of them. Normally, he'd find this situation weird enough to want to investigate further, but the voice telling him to get away is enough to persuade him to get out of that hairy mess and he scampers to his feet.

Though, he's going to get close enough to the hunters to snatch one of their cross-bows before scampering away like the coward he is, settling on a building near Yuya to hide behind until the coast was entirely clear.]

_{[The naga's eyes slowly appear over the top of the newspaper again. Is this kid for real? He has to admit now he's morbidly curious.]}

_{[To illustrate, JW lifts the tip of his tail so that it's visible over the makeshift counter. It's a snake joke.]}

Spirit of nature? That actually sounds pretty cool. Does that make me some kind of defender? [As if she wasn't already.

At the comparison, Sam offers a thin, sympathetic smile.] Yeah, sorry. I know it could be worse. [A lot worse.] You'd probably look cute in some backless shirts. It might be kind of dangerous, but the shirt's not going to help much anyway.

[Jimmy looks at the pamphlets in his hands before shrugging, moving to put them back into his pockets again.]

People have been given' 'em to me ever since I got here...I guess that means you just got here, too?

[That's what he figures; after all, he's seem more "humans" in one area today than he has in his entire non-life.]

Don't be an asshole about this. It wasn't an insult when you did it for me.

[But thirteen years is a long time. It's not raw and recent, still a fresh wound of only a few months ago. Thirteen years is a long, long time to move on and leave it in the past.

Or so he assumes. What does he know about leaving things in the past, anyway.]

[Jimmy looks up just as he's sitting back onto his heels, wincing with a hand shakily lifting to gingerly rest against the side of his head.]
