TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

• You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.

• Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
• Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR: The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[Let's go with he's startled by her pure stupidity. At least with the assistance of Karin she doesn't stumble as much herself. Pluses for escaping hunters.]

B-but! [Still she's kind of woozy and she's not completely dumb after everything even if that's some visible deflating.] Okay.

[Diego scoffs, turning his attention away from her.]

I've already explained it enough times. Explaining it again won't make it sink in through that thick skull of yours any better.

[She sighs, head bowed. This is, after all, how such talk usually ends.]

[He does recognize it but instead of being impressed, he's annoyed. That had been humiliating, being called out on television and not being able to counter attack. It has been a while so the feelings aren't fresh, but he has an idea as to why it was chosen.

Light is still fairly sure L could prove nothing, but in this place, did it matter? He had never killed anyone here, but he wasn't sure what their policy for handing over criminals was. Admittedly, there would be a lot of pressure from the rest of the world if they knew Kira was here, and many countries would cave under that pressure. For him to have never even hard of the city he was in, it was probably small enough that it wouldn't hold out long.

There would always be games the two could play. They were too much alike while being too different for anything else. Their history was too sordid, too ripe with pushes and pulls for them to put it aside and be anything other than rivals. Could they work together through the rivalry? They had. But that didn't mean at the end of the day that need to win was gone.

As L speaks, his frown deepens, though it's entirely real for now. Teeth, claws, wings, antlers, any number of things? That was both disturbingly specific and horrifyingly vague. What would count as all numbers of things? It would have been easy to think L was exaggerating if one wasn't looking at him.

Uncomfortable, embarrassing, and degrading for many. Is that your hope for me, L?]

The investigation? [That was a bit harder to focus on for now. But, it wouldn't be a problem if he made it home quickly enough, would it? It was all the more incentive to be proactive.] We had just captured Kira. You don't remember? Did something else happen when you changed?

[There's no reason to lie and every reason not to. L may know people come from different time periods, but Light had no access to that information and assuming as much would be too outrageous. Until he knew the rules of this place, he had to be careful.]

[It takes him a moment to locate the voice since Loki does look to be a little different from the rest of the of the population. Did that come from the animal? Ah, if the readings were right, it was probably more monster than animal.

It was important he be able to adapt, no matter how strange it felt.]

Would you know which of them happen to be real?

[The wall is cold and hard against his back, which helped keep him trapped. On the other end, it felt horrible being so much weaker than his attacker. The best blow he could manage to give hadn't even fazed him. More than embarrassment, fear held his attention. That was the kind of strength that could hurt him, and it felt like it belonged to someone who wanted to.

With the proximity the two held, it would have been hard to miss a change in those eyes. Typically, red was a color of danger, used as a signal that anything beyond would cause the viewer harm. Blue was a more neutral color. Did that mean the anger was gone?

Light as no idiot. It wasn't a coincidence that he, of all people, was called Kira. He was, after all. So what had changed his mind? Was there some other cue he had been looking for? Some cue he had gotten to make him stop? Possibly a sound Light himself couldn't hear?

Guessing he was from another timeline wasn't a very practical guess.]

That name is familiar. [He doesn't believe this man would think any differently. He had to know Light somehow.] But I'm not him. If you would let me go, we can talk about it more peacefully.

I don't know what that is, but the person I followed was very set on the idea.

[Scenario 1]
[ For all that Minamimoto wants to become the Composer of Shibuya, its de facto god, he could accept the setback of a new world and the way his frequency is severely attenuated. This unprecedented and temporary bout of tolerance has nothing to do with how the last thing he remembers is the vending machine that crunched him into the pavement. Nope. Not a bit. He's cool with his long laid plots being put on aside for now so he can work this new angle.

Getting his bearings and gathering information comes first. Some of it is in pamphlet form, but then some in a more physical form, too. The latter had been when he'd gone down the wrong isolated alley, coming across someone that took severe exception to him. Now, though, Sho's currently casually sprawled on a bench as he alternates between people-watching and enjoying the literature about transformations.

Oh, and cannibalism. Now there's something he's never done before.

The most frustrating part is how he'll have to take his time while figuring out where he's going with this. He's just so zetta slow, too slow and weak for his tastes. Then again, there's a guy that got his head bashed to a bloody pulp with a garbage can in an alley a few blocks back, so someone else was having a worse day. That puts it in perspective. ] Heh heh heh, this is gonna be a zetta good time.

[Scenario 2]
[ This is not the world that Minamimoto had been designed to thrive in. It's never been more apparent to him than tonight that he's defined by by the rush and crush of city life, and that he is entirely out of his boundary conditions. And there are trees to the nth power out here.

Sho's lost among too many trees in a bad way, and he's sure that something's gone sideways. There's only one saving grace, that it's got the feel of a game. (Escape the woods or be erased. You have until XX:XX. It's not of the caliber he'd assign.) There has to be a solution here, and he keeps an eye out for some kind of significance to features that he's sure he'd passed by earlier. Maybe when he derives the solution, he'll even get rewarded with a chance to snap the neck of whatever was giggling. ]

How I need a drink, alcoholic in nature...

[ He stalks through the woods, firmly ignoring the periodic trip or slip as if there hadn't been a miscalculation at all. ]

...after the zetta factoring trivial conundrum set is won-- huh.

[ He lost the flow, but only because his eye catches movement. Time to go seek some answers. ]

[...He needs a minute here to actually walk away from the computer and laugh. This is impressively naive even by the standards of his usual playmates.]

Is that so? But then, if your heroic demon kings go out to hurt others, what do they become then? They're not making sure everyone is okay, after all, and they certainly wouldn't care for your efforts.

Saving everyone is an admirable cause, but let me assure you personally that it's not a realistic one.

Okay, then yeah, that sounds right. I'm Korra. Is...is this Earth?

[She's trying to figure this all out. Are humans that weird here? If it's enough to make her stand out that clearly as someone 'new', that says a whole lot. The lack of bending nags at her, keeping her half-distracted.]

[She glances down at the pamphlets in her hands, regarding them with the new information she's gleaned.]

Are these some kind of...propaganda?

[He's patient, quiet as she looks him over. He's seen a lot of varied reactions in his time here. Lea freaked out (and then had a literal heart attack at Kairi's appearance). Sora didn't even recognize him at first. Luckily, Riku doesn't believe that Naminé will have the same problem and so far so good on that front, but there's a reaction. There always is one.

His ears might twitch forward just the slightest bit before she speaks. The manticore has been trying damn hard not to have these extra, inhuman parts display his nervousness to her.]

...Hey.

[Riku's equally quiet, with a slight lop-sided smile on his face. It's not necessarily a relief to see her here, and he's not happy when he's aware of what this place does to all of them. It's meant to be more of a comfort for her. A slight friendly face that can help her. Because she's going to need it.

Creeping a little closer now, ears swivelling as he hears all the people that are moving around him, whispering and avoiding his monstrous parts, he nods numbly. Naminé might not be keybearer-level strong, but she is a tough girl in her own right. That, and he knows that hiding secrets from her won't work.

He doesn't care about his own pain. But preparation helps in these monster changes. Most of the time.]

...Yeah. It's not like what we might be used to.

[A beat and he nods lightly to her, his tails moving just slightly against his wishes.]

You okay...?

Kousetsu Samonji | Touken Ranbu

Scenario One

[ Upon his arrival Kousetsu is much like everyone else. Dazed, confused, and without his sword most of all. The lack of his vessel is the most jarring change, really, but he's remaining calm as he wanders through the village with pamphlets in his hands.

He might just wander up to anybody around worry doting his features as his has this serious expression on his face. His voice is low as he speaks slowly to anyone willing to listen. ] Have you...seen or heard of anyone by the name of Sayo or Souza Samonji?

[ Finding his brothers is the most important thing right now. ]

Scenario Three: Nymph

[ The changes aren't slow going as Kousetsu laments the fact that he can't control these urges or desires to do humans harm. As a pacifist this is taking its toll on him more than he'd like to admit. So there he will be with vine like hair, greenish skin, still in his Buddhist priest robes beneath the base of a tree. His touch to a broken and dying plant sets its back in bloom as he silently watches people pass by. He doesn't want to cause anyone harm, so he stays away, but the thirst for human flesh and blood is there, even if he himself finds it sickening. ]

[Korra's not in the mood. She straightens, raking her short hair out of her face. They took her bending. She doesn't even know who 'they' are but it doesn't matter at the moment. She needs answers.]

[She doesn't need some little snot hassling her. She'd hate to slip right back into meeting every problem with violence, but the temptation is pretty strong right now.]

That's....not surprising.

[Korra can't help but watch the spider woman as she moves. There's something really fascinating about it. The random thought that she's sure Asami would find some sort of inspiration in those smooth, precise motions pops through her head.]

Do you know what happened to me? These...don't really explain anything.

[She's not sure how they were supposed to help. She's upset and confused and already under a mountain of stress. This sudden abduction and lack of any explanation is starting to fray her hold on her temper. Not to mention her patience.]

[Without warning and before he can even reply, Karamatsu finds himself lifted straight off the ground and into Yamato's arms- or wings, rather, both of which he's got a much clearer view of now- as well as sharp claws that graze against the sides of his leather jacket whenever he instinctively squirms a little in his grasp.]

Y-you- you don't- ah-!

[He wants to say that Yamato doesn't have to carry him like that (and he really wishes he wouldn't, how embarrassing!), but at the same time, something stops him from protesting further. Maybe it's his kindness that Karamatsu isn't used to, or maybe it's the sharpness of those claws that shut him up. It's probably the latter.]

M..Matsuno. Karamatsu Matsuno.

But pride is the greatest thing a man can have! Confidence and determination in one's self can allow an individual to undertake nearly anything! Any challenge, any feat can be conquered if one has the faith that they can do it!

[His argument comes in the form of yet another spiel, all while he's all but clinging to Mahiru as she makes her way.]

So it's not that I'm not..."manning up", as you say.

[That, for some reason, is said in English. Very strained, very bad English.]

[Karamatsu had opened his mouth to reply, but he stops before he can say anything, his ears swiveling forward. He blinks a time or two, tipping his head to one side.]

Manning up is accepting that, y'know, sometimes you need help.
You should be able to take care of yourself, of course!
But letting your pride get to the point where you reject the help you need is...

You're here because a god thinks it's terribly funny to throw random people into a fish bowl and watch us grow extra limbs.

[Mello does draw back. It's an abrupt, disgusted motion, and his general displeasure is apparent as he gives the younger(??) man some space. His spade-ended tail twitches in aggravation and he makes no effort to keep his hooves from clopping heavily against the ground when he steps. Most of his scales are covered by clothing, save for the small amount on his hands and some on his neck. These are a deep purple, though other colors are often reflected by the light depending on where he stands.

He had originally worn gloves, as well as sunglasses to cover the dark sclera of his eyes, but there's little point in that now when some of his other features are so obvious and far more difficult to conceal.]

I'm not really interested in talking, to be honest.

[Not like this. Not when he's already made a mistake in playing a card too soon. It had simply felt so liberating to say it to the man they'd all been chasing for so long, only for the reality of the matter to be devastating.]

Machi | Hunter x Hunter

[This was not on Machi’s list of things she wanted to do today. The strange town isn’t that bad, she’s lived in worse conditions before. Their generosity however is suspicious and the pamphlets hold little to no interest to her. She knew of mythical beasts. The fact these people seemed so strange about them just meant they were weak. She pushes the pamphlets back into the arms of the person that gave her the last one and proceeds to brush past them. The passing glares she acquires as she walks through mean little to her as well. She pays them no mind. There are more important things to be concern about. She just needs to get a baring of her surroundings.

The first person she passes that stands out to her, be it monster or human, she steps in the way of. Clearly a polite way to get someone’s attention.]

[What was going on? She wasn’t usually this careless. If Nobunaga or any of the other spiders hear of this, she wouldn't hear the end of it. Machi glances this way and that, looking for some clue to where she ended up. As she has made her way through the forest, the troupe member has be mindful to make a mark along some of the trees she past. Just so if needed, she would be able to retrace her steps without worry. The only issue is, her icy blues lock onto one of the said trees she marked previously before.

She was going in circles.

Machi curses under her breath and before she can do much else her attention shifts to a rustling sound. Someone was either lost like her or following her. Her eyes narrow and she shifts her body so she can fully face the direction the noise is coming from. She’s eager for a fight anyway. Too bad for whoever else.]

Judai nods in confirmation -hey, he's from Yusei's future instead of the other way around now!- and a smirk that mixes smugness and excitement appears on his face. ]

The one and only! The three of us were an amazing team! I still think about it! The Crimson Dragon took you to come pick me up, and then we both went back in time to stop Pegasus from being killed by Paradox. It was an amazing duel. You and Yugi-san were both so cool!
