JANUARY TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE
Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

  • You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
  • We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
  • Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.

  • The Reserve date is 01/29.
  • Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
  • Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

"Aaaa, this forest again?"

Well, apparently Light isn't the only one who has gotten momentarily lost, though this person seems to be mildly vexed at worst. Honestly, take a few wrong turns at the edge of town, and apparently this is just bound to happen. He knows the place is actually surprisingly safe - something about the gods' influence not reaching there or something? It was over a year ago, it's hard to remember. But it's still an annoyance, and remembering getting lost there while he was still sick enough to be in danger is not very pleasant.

Still, as the naga comes around a clump of bushes he brightens up a bit at the sight of someone else in there, even if they don't seem to be in a very good mood. At least he's not alone in here. "You're one of the newcomers, aren't you?"

Light only seems slightly aggravated because he's good at pretending to be things he's not: an ordinary, law-abiding citizen; an innocent suspect. Calm and in control. Not shocked by the sight of the misshapen man suddenly in front of him.

It's irksome, being pegged immediately as a newcomer. Why, just because I don't have horns and scales and a tail? No - saying something like that would be rude. That won't do at all. Light may not like being so easily read but he can pretend it doesn't bother him.

He can pretend his way out of just about anything.

He forces a quiet chuckle and a half-apologetic smile. "Am I that obvious?"

Souji smiles brightly, shifting his skirt a bit as he negotiates his tail over a fallen log, and then putting a hand on the hilts of his swords as he edges past another clump of brambles. "Well, you don't look like you've transformed at all." Souji certainly isn't going to obfuscate about this at all; what would be the point? And surely most newcomers got to know what would happen to them pretty quickly, even if some of them understandably refused to believe it.

"Oh, and it seems like almost all newcomers will get lost in this forest at least once. Although..." He looks around with an embarrassed little laugh, shrugging. "...it still happens to me even after more than a year here, apparently. Don't worry, we'll be let out eventually."

Light trusts himself, trusts his abilities and what he can observe; he believes what he sees because he believes he's not so easily deceived. Pretending otherwise is pointless fancy, and Light has no time for that.

"No, I haven't - you're right." Not yet anyway. Light isn't blind to the reality of his current circumstances, but that doesn't mean he'll blindly accept it, either. There must be something that can be done to prevent his own eventual transformation, and he won't rest until he's exhausted every possible angle.

"How long does it usually take, in your experience?"

It must be pretty uncomfortable, having the fact of the transformation hanging over your head like a poised blade. But then again, Souji would still prefer it to his own experience, to be honest. Not knowing what was happening to them at the start of it all, why their bodies were turning against them, had not been too pleasant - even if he'd immediately reaped the benefit of growing healthier, which had helped.

"Mmm, at least a couple of hours, though it can go on for longer. But generally, you're usually not stuck in here until nightfall, so that's always something." That had only happened once, as far as he's aware, and had gone on for... he's actually not certain. He'd been insane with the ill effects of the fog and delirious with fever - but a couple of days at least.

Better not to make the situation worse for the other man unless he has to, though. So instead his smile widens. "At least we're not alone in here, huh? What's your name?"
