JANUARY TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE
Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

  • You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
  • We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
  • Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.

  • The Reserve date is 01/29.
  • Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
  • Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[Flame Princess just shrugs, looking to the trees around her like they'll show her the way out. And from the confident way she walks, they're doing exactly that.]

I can't really say why. Maybe it didn't change it at all - it's easy to get disoriented in this kind of place if you're not paying enough attention.
nolemon: (Don't speak to me.)

[personal profile] nolemon 2016-01-19 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
I wasn't paying attention.

[She only was looking at the flowers. So she could squish them later.]
pastlanternlight: (Bows to none)

[personal profile] pastlanternlight 2016-01-20 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Welp, that explains it. Flame Princess' expression gets rather dry all of a sudden.]

That's a super good way to get eaten around here. We come back to life, but that doesn't make it a good idea to die.
nolemon: (Who do you think you are?!)

[personal profile] nolemon 2016-01-21 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Anyone who tries to eat me is going to be in trouble.

[She glares harshly, pulling herself to her full height. Which is about the same size as a small child.]
pastlanternlight: (Serious business)

[personal profile] pastlanternlight 2016-01-21 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Yes, well. Flame Princess doesn't look terribly threatened right now, and for a teenager, she's not that tall herself. Not a promising start.]

I'd be really interested to hear what you're gonna do to them, lost in a forest with no weapon.
nolemon: (What did you call me?)

[personal profile] nolemon 2016-01-22 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
[It's true...she's without a weapon and she's not particularly strong. What could she do? Start sniffling loud.]

I..I'd find a way...
pastlanternlight: (Guttering candle)

[personal profile] pastlanternlight 2016-01-22 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh boy, Flame Princess didn't mean to make her cry, but the truth here's kind of brutal. She's silent for about half a minute, focusing on working back through the trees, before she speaks again.]

It's easier to fight back when you're a monster. You'll just have to wait a little while.
nolemon: (What did you call me?)

[personal profile] nolemon 2016-01-22 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Sniff, sniff.]

R-really?

[...Too bad most people who know Hiyoko would say that she's already a monster, except with the abilities of a human.]
pastlanternlight: (New horizon)

[personal profile] pastlanternlight 2016-01-22 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I mean, most monsters can fight on a pretty equal level. When you start turning into one here, it gets way easier to defend yourself from other monsters.

[...There's also the issue of all the bad that comes with monster changes, but she's not looking to lower the mood any further.]
nolemon: (I can totally tie this)

[personal profile] nolemon 2016-01-22 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
So monsters can fight monsters?

[She already knows the gist of it...but the idea of keeping others from bullying her is nice.]
pastlanternlight: (...Okay then)

[personal profile] pastlanternlight 2016-01-22 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
Well, yeah. I mean, you don't just go and start fights with monsters, obviously, but if someone attacks you there's nothing stopping you from defending yourself.

[Bullying would technically fall under that. What Flame Princess has in mind is the much worse stuff, though - monsters trying to eat other monsters, or kill in the name of their god.]
nolemon: (I can totally tie this)

[personal profile] nolemon 2016-01-22 09:51 am (UTC)(link)
I don't wanna to fight anyone...but I'd defend myself if I had to.

[She still sniffs a little at that. ...Yeah, those are crocodile tears.]
pastlanternlight: (Serious business)

[personal profile] pastlanternlight 2016-01-22 10:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Perhaps luckily, Flame Princess can't tell - she barely understands normal tears, let alone crocodile tears. So her assumption is that the girl means what she says.]

You're probably gonna have to defend yourself, at least, but you shouldn't need to fight unless you end up with one of the gods.
nolemon: (I can totally tie this)

[personal profile] nolemon 2016-01-23 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Gods...? What is that about?

[Did those two stupid stuffed animals follow her?]
pastlanternlight: (Bows to none)

[personal profile] pastlanternlight 2016-01-23 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
There's a bunch of gods here. Only two of them you really need to worry about: the Fog God and the Fourth God. They've been trying to recruit people for some dumb war, and the Fog God's the one who brings everyone here, too.

[It's astoundingly obvious from Flame Princess' tone that she really doesn't like the gods here, and she almost ends up swatting a branch out of her face in the brief irritation.]
nolemon: (I can totally tie this)

[personal profile] nolemon 2016-01-23 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like someone needs to bop them on the head.

[She keeps following and is quite glad she's so short when that branch goes over her head.]
pastlanternlight: (Serious business)

[personal profile] pastlanternlight 2016-01-23 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish. They're seriously a bunch of jerks, and they pretty much do whatever they can to try getting people on their side.

[She pauses a moment to gauge how far they've gone before turning slightly and heading further on. She wound around a bit after she left the path earlier.]
nolemon: (I can totally tie this)

...somehow I missed this, sorry.

[personal profile] nolemon 2016-01-31 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Then a double bop should work just as well.

[She really has... no idea where th ey're going but at least she's paying attention to their surroundings.]
pastlanternlight: (Bows to none)

np, happens to everyone

[personal profile] pastlanternlight 2016-02-01 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
[The canopy is starting to thin very slightly, opening sight further ahead, and though the distance is still filled with trees, there seems to be a gap coming up some distance away. Flame Princess is heading towards it with resolution, making it plain that's the destination.]

I think we'd need a few more people to "bop" them, but hey, it's a nice idea.
nolemon: (I can totally tie this)

[personal profile] nolemon 2016-02-02 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
[That? That definitely is an exit! She follows quickly. She tilts her head slightly at the statement.]

There's a lot of us so it shouldn't be that hard, right?
pastlanternlight: (New horizon)

[personal profile] pastlanternlight 2016-02-02 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Flame Princess shakes her head a little, the red plants that make up her hair rustling with the movement.]

There's a lot of us, but I don't think we know that much about these gods, and there's not really an organised neutral party. I know a couple of people have tried organising one, but I'm pretty sure they haven't done much.
nolemon: (You steaming pile of pigshit)

[personal profile] nolemon 2016-02-04 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
[At this mention, Hiyoko rolls her eyes. Why hadn't she guessed that would be the case?]

Even when dressed in their finest, a street rat is still a rat. Can't say I'm too surprised.
