Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.

Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[ it's pretty easy to get lost in the woods - under the right circumstances. to be fair, Sora's rather used to it by now. waiting it out seems to be the best option and the laughing? kind of background noise.

but the sound of someone tripping not too far off? that catches his attention. so the faerie makes his way over. surprised to see Aerith of all people.

so his hand shoots out to help her up. ]

[Honestly, if you put Aerith back in Midgar, she'd be fine. She could traverse all the labyrinthine walk ways of the slums and the streets on the plate without losing her way. But, stick her in a forest, and she was lost. As is the case now.

She's relieved that the other person isn't to far off and takes the extended hand to stand up. She dusts off her dress and makes sure there aren't any holds or tears before smiling at her help.]

Thank you so much. I think I'm lost here. [It's an easy admission.]

Oh, I'm Aerith.

[ so the city girl can't cut it in the country. what else is new!

anyway. Sora realizes that there's no recognition on her features. so this Aerith is just like Joshua, Neku, and the others. well that's all right. doesn't really bother him none. ]

Nice to meet you. My name's Sora.

[No, she'll adjust. It'll just take some time! It's not like it's super easy for her.

But, she's really glad that he doesn't seem to be staring at her like she should know him. That had been awkward with that girl in the town!]

It's nice to meet you too, Sora. [She takes a good look at him and really sees him for the first time.] Oh. You have wings. Are you an angel?

[ only because that poor girl hadn't had this experience already.

when Aerith mentions his wings, he can't help but spread them out. the patterns are a combination of red, white, and black. he also laughs. ]

Angel? No, no. Faerie.

[When you spend as much of the life you've had in a city, trees and bogs and the like are strange. Please to be giving her back the dirt and grime of Midgar.

She watches him move the wings and stares. They're very pretty.]

A faerie? Aren't they usually smaller? And girls?

I can make myself smaller if I want to.

[ hey. think of all the flowers that can actually grow here. far more potential! ]

But uh... Not every faerie here is a girl. In fact I kinda didn't start out as one.

You can?

[Flowers are great! She wants to paint the entire world in flowers. She can maybe do that here, right?]

So, there are more here than just you. Do you know how many? [She'd like to meet more faeries, since they were just legends on Gaia.] You didn't start off as a faerie? Then what were you before?

Mmhmm. Maybe I can show you in a second.

[ or right now. in a moment, Sora's small enough that he can fit into Aerith's palm. all it means is that he has to flutter close so she can hear him. ]

I was just a normal kid. We were all normal. Something about this place changes us when the fog rolls in.

OH!

[Aerith gasps in surprise at the sudden change. Oh, wow, he's so tiny and cute. And, he can actually fly with those pretty wings.

But what he says ruins all her excitement and she frowns hard, fear in her eyes.]

So, those pamphlets were true? I'm going to turn into some monster that will eat those poor people in the towns?

[ Sora feels bad. really, he does. causing people pain or discomfort is not how he rolls. ]

Kind of. Not every monster eats people. Some drink blood and others, like me, have to feed on energy. Only... I'm really really careful. Not that it's any excuse.

[You'd think Aerith would be used to pain by now, but she's still hoping for the best for everyone. This doesn't really help with that outlook.

But it's also not Sora's fault.]

I... I was hoping that they were just playing a mean trick on me. It's happened before. But, well... You are pretty convincing evidence that they weren't.

[ hopefully Aerith doesn't mind Sora resting on her shoulder since that's what he's going to do. ]

I just thought that maybe it'd be better to hear it before it happened...

[She only gives a half smile at the tiny faerie now resting on her shoulder. It's fine. And kind of strangely comforting.]

I suppose that's true. It would have been a lot scarier if it just happened without knowing about it being a real possibility.

[ Sora's all about being as supportive as he can be. ]

Believe me when I say it's a lot scarier. People freak out all the time.

[Usually Aerith's the supportive one.]

I can see why. To suddenly become a monster... [She shudders.] That's a very scary thought.

Everything's so spread out here, I don't know where I'm going. And this forest is really strange too.

I...[She can't finish the thought. It's too childish. But she really wants to go home.]

Thank you. You've been very kind.

Being a monster isn't scary. I've kind of been one before. And other things. It's everything that comes with it here that's... [ Sora scratches his cheek. ] Not so fun.

[ still recovering from his freak out. he's trying all right. ]

Anyway. The forest does this to people. Mostly the fog stuff and the voices. You're not going to find your way out right now. But I'll stay with you.

I'm sorry, but hearing that I'll turn into a monster sounds scary to me. I... I just want to be normal. [Aerith has a bit of a complex about that, okay?] But I saw the pamphlets that the people gave me. [Even the joke ones.] They said that I'd start eating... people.

[She's about two seconds from freaking out herself.]

I...the sooner I get out of here, the better it'll be, I think. Do you know what way to head?

You might not though - like me. I don't eat people.

[ he just drains their energy. can totally be done without killing but Sora... Sora still has problems with that. ]

As for where to go? Just start walking. This place kind of likes to take random twists and turns.

What do you mean you don't eat people? If you turned into a monster, [she stares at his wings] then how do you eat?

[Please tell her the other ways. It might help her not be so...scared. Yep, she's definitely scared.]

Do you know the way out? I-I just want to go back to that city! It must be safer than out here.

Energy is what faeries need. So it's... Kind of like. [ how does one put it... ] They go to sleep for a little while and their fine. If I don't... Take too much.

[ yeah. it's kind of a struggle and Sora's so, so hesitant about it all. ]

Afraid I don't. But there's a little trick that might help.

O-oh, I guess that's not so bad. [Except it kinda is. Who the hell knows.] How do you do that?

And what's the trick? [She's desperate. Don't leave her here alone, please.]

It's... Not something I really want to talk about. Not right now.

[ still a bit sensitive. go figure. ]

A-anyway. I can make a faerie ring. Might be able to take us out of here and to the house.
