TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

• You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
• We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
• Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.


• The Reserve date is 01/29.
• Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
• Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[Natasha is in the habit of helping newcomers who run afoul hunters as it is. It's a way she can use her skills to help others in her situation, people who might not be as well trained or in as good of a position to protect themselves.

But when she sees someone she knows—she would have helped already, but there's know way she'd leave Nick to fend for himself in this situation.

She hisses from down a narrow ally, gesturing with one clawed hand has he passes. Her body is bulky here and seems to fill the cramped space, but she still moves quickly, agile now that she's gotten used to her body.]

This way. Quick.

Goblin!

[ He knows that voice. Oh, thank his dead grandmomma for watching over him.

Never one to question Romanoff in the field, he follows her down the alley, angling his body so as not to rake her with the wicked-looking spikes coming off his shoulders and elbows (damn things had ripped through his good leather trench). ]

You got an exit strategy?

[She backs up a few steps, spider legs ticking against the walls and pavement as she skitters to make space.

Under another circumstance, she might be awkward having to explain the changes to Fury, but explanations will wait until they're safe.

Her eyes go up to the narrow band of sky overheard.]

Yeah, I had something in mind.

[botheyesopen]

[ Now that he's less worried about being hunted down and cut apart, Nick's enhanced eyesight picks up on the fact that Natasha's body is a little higher up than normal. And ends in eight spindly legs instead of her usual two. Right. 'Cause that makes sense.

These damned gods have a sense of humor.

His eyes follow hers, to the sky. ]

That'll work, but how we gonna get up there? These [ He turns, flapping the pathetic little wings that came with his own transformation, ] ain't gonna lift me.

[Oh, do they ever.

She gives him a look, sizing up his changes. The spikes are familiar. Too bad he's not smaller.]

No, I had something else in mind.

[She demonstrates by taking a few steps straight up the wall.]

Now that, [ he deadpans, ] could work.

[ He's about to protest that he'll be too heavy for her to carry when the torchlight from the angry mob flickers at the end of their alley. ]

Let's move.

[Luckily, being a monster gives her a strength boost. She offers a hand and, when he takes it, pulls him up to her shoulders.

Hold on, Director.]

[ And also luckily (only in this scenario), his transformation had shrunken him a bit. He holds on tight, arms around her shoulders, as she lifts him up out of the reach of the pursuing hunters. ]

[It's not the most comfortable of rides, but traveling fast and vertically, it doesn't take long to get out of reach of their pursuers—without killing them, even.]

[ Once they reach the rooftop, Nick lets go, dropping down to his feet and only stumbling a little. He may have twisted his ankle slightly running from the hunters.

In the unobstructed moonlight, he takes a good long look at Romanoff. All of her. ]

So. You want to tell me how long it's been?

[There's a lot of her to take in, all long, glossy black legs and broad abdomen. Not exactly pretty.

Her face is almost unchanged, though.]

Since early October.

[Her voice is flat, giving a report.]

[ That would explain the extent of her changes. He'd gathered it was sometime in January, local time. ]

And before early October, when was it? [ He knows these so-called gods take people from different times. He wants to know what Romanoff has done and seen, and what she hasn't. ]

Ultron was the last major fire that needed putting out.

[She looks him over, searching for signs that he knows what she's talking about or that he's surprised. Fury's never been the easiest person to read, but Natasha likes to believe she can find something.]

[ She can certainly find some recognition in Fury's one visible eye. He was there for Sokovia. That, at least, is not beyond him. He nods, curtly, turning to look out over the city. It's mostly quiet, with telltale shouts and a scream or two to signify the number of hunters and hunted out tonight. ]

What's your make on this place? Any hope of a way out?

Maybe. People leave. I don't know how though, and I don't know where too.

[She crosses her arms over her chest, glancing away. Coming and going has been a concern of hers since she arrived, especially since it seems like she was here before.]

I do know that if they get out, they haven't found a means of letting us know how. And I think some of them aren't the type to leave on their own, if they can avoid it.

You mean there are folks who want to stay in this insane hellhole? [ He hasn't gotten it yet. The hunger. But he knows it's coming, and he's not looking forward to it. ]

Maybe some of them. Most people just don't know how to leave.

[She lifts her chin slightly.]

We're still looking.

[ That's good. Hope in the face of adversity is good. It's one of Nick's favorite things about Natasha.

He paces, hands on bony hips, as he peers over the edge, waiting for the hunters below to give up and head home— or, more likely, after another poor unfortunate soul. ]

You make it a habit to help the humans' prey? [ And damn if it doesn't feel strange to say the word 'human' and mean it as something other than himself. ]

Sometimes. I make it a habit to keep people I know from getting killed.

[The situation is what it is. She tries to minimize damage, on both sides if she can. Sometimes that's all they can do here.]
