TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.

Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[There's a hilarious moment or two after Armin finds himself empty-handed where he continues to just stare at where the pamphlet used to be. Then he rouses himself, turning around quickly and awkwardly clearing his throat.]

U-Uh. Um. Excuse me? I was, uh. Using that?

[Mello just holds up the index finger of the hand not holding the pamphlet in order to let the boy know he wants him to be silent for a moment. It might be rude of him, but he'll be taking the time to look over the paper for any possible new information regardless.

When he's finished, having found nothing of interest, he holds it back out.]

It would have gone to a good cause, but here.

[Armin swallows back any verbal protests, instead just crossing his arms and waiting patiently. He has next to no chance of winning any sort of physical altercation with this guy -- or...anyone, really -- and there's no guarantee that this isn't another monster in disguise. Still, when the pamphlet is offered back, he'll take it with a motion just short of a snatch.]

What cause is that?

Mine.

[And Mello waves off any elaboration on that answer. If Armin expects him to go into detail on why he's being a jerk then he's going to be left in constant disappointment. The blond does as he pleases, most of the time. If you aren't an asset to him, or even if you are, expect most complaints to go unheeded.]

I'm sure you have your own to worry about.

[That gets a thoughtful shrug, Armin preferring to keep his gaze down on the stack of pamphlets he's gathered.]

I'm not quite there, yet. I'll settle for an immediate plan of action before I get to any sort of "cause". Especially if there's an imminent transformation of some sort, as I've been told.

You're taking my phrasing too literally.

[He shakes his head.] Anyway, of course there's a transformation. All it takes is a good look around.

[Not just at any "monsters" that actually appear, but at the state of the town itself and the looks in the townspeople's eyes when they greet the new arrivals.]

If you say so. [Better to be too literal, Armin thinks, than try to assume and end up in more trouble.

That gets a nod and a brief glance around.] It seems to be unavoidable, too. I wonder how fast it happens...

The general consensus is that it takes about a month, with few exceptions.

[And with the speed of the changes varying from one individual to another. That's the infuriating thing about dealing with sentient beings who believed themselves gods - everything is up to their whim and there doesn't have to be any rhyme or reason to it. There are no real checks and balances here.]

Have you read much of those yet? [He gestures to the collected pamphlets.]
