TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

• You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
• We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
• Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.


• The Reserve date is 01/29.
• Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
• Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

You didn't see the all-too-enthusiastic men with guns?

[They're patrolling the streets, going from here to there and just looking for anything to shoot at.]

They're hunters. [He gestures to himself with one hand. Surely she's noticed his eyes? His hair? He even rolls up a sleeve to show her a patch of fur on his arm.] I'm part animal. Some people here don't like monsters very much.

[Yuffie lightly pets his arm though she doesn't look to concerned about it.]

You're so soft!

[It's kind of great and suddenly the name Leon actually makes more sense.]

I'm sure we can take a few hunters.

[Personal space!

...is what he'd like to say but being pet was kind of nice? He would rather die than admit that though. Squall looks vaguely confused, as if he's not sure how he's supposed to react to being pet and told he's soft, of all things.]

Are you telling me you have a weapon or magic on you? Because I certainly don't.

[Yuffie doesn't believe in personal space among friends. That and petting is great. However the light strokes of her fingertips falter slightly when he mentions weapons and magic.]

Ah, yeah about that. When I woke up here I couldn't summon my shuriken or do any of my magic.

[She looks up at him with a slight pout.]

I have a dagger?

[It's something. Daggers are basic weapons, able to serve most people well regardless of their training or combat experience.]

Good. Let's get off these streets.

[The longer they stand out in the open like this, the more anxious he gets. He doesn't wait for a reply before he starts to stalk off in one direction.]

How do you know me?

[He's curious, because the way Yuffie asks, it seems to be more than just hearing his name somewhere.]

[She's really talented even with just her dagger and she might be looking to show off but hearing Squall's command gave Yuffie pause. As much as she doesn't like listening it usually works out better when she does.

She gives him a quick nod and follows closely to his side. It isn't as if he's hard to keep up with even at grump walking speeds.]

That's a really long story. [That he doesn't remember.]

The short version is that I've known you for years and last I saw you we were a defense force for Radiant Garden. You were in charge... sorta.

[She likes to think of it as a democracy.]

[That...sounds a lot like his current situation, actually. There are minor differences: he would definitely not call SeeD a defense force, and he's never heard of this Radiant Garden. But the part of being kind of in charge but not really? Definitely rings true to him. Squall has never felt very much like a commander. Leadership sucks.]

And then you got dragged here too. That puts us in the same boat. You wouldn't happen to also be changing into a monster, would you?

[Yuffie looks completely human to him, but that doesn't mean she is.]

[Yuffie shrugs.]

I just showed up... apparently that means it'll happen later.

[Its a little hard for her to believe.]

Um... will I?

[Somehow hearing Squall say it makes her nervous.]

[Will it?]

I haven't met anyone who isn't from this place it hasn't happened to.

[That's all the answer he has to give.]

[Yuffie looks really nervous as she follows close behind. That isn't really what she's expecting to hear or wanting to hear. She's also decided that this world sucks and she wants to go back to Radiant Garden... only she wants to go back with Squall.

Which doesn't seem likely.]

[Because he finds it hard to believe this cat business was a coincidence.]

Yeah right... oh you're serious...

[Yuffie thinks about it for a moment.]

I don't know what my favorite animal is... I know yours. [It isn't like he tries to hide it.]

Um... I hope it's something cute.
