TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!

Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[ Kasen actually wasn't the person that Kanesan was trying to speak to and get their attention. It seems that the older Kanesada had noticed him first, and standing a short distance away, he had been quietly amused watching Kanesan take the nicer gifts with no problem. But by the time he's starting to actually ask questions, Kasen feels that he should probably intervene. Maybe.

So whether Kanesan notices the colorful other sword approaching, Kasen will announce his presence by lightly tapping a rolled up pamphlet of his own against the back of Kanesan's head. It's a lightly scolding gesture, but at least he didn't actually hit him?? Kasen isn't in a bad enough mood for that yet. ]

Really... You should have asked those questions when you were happily accepting all the other gifts, Izumi-kun. [ ugh wtf do the swords call each other... I'm winging it

Also, this is especially silly, considering Kasen hadn't done this either, but. He'll scold Kanesan for it anyways. ]

[ with that tap tap on the back of his head, Izuminokami flinches and finally turns his head to see someone familiar!!! this is a relief- hey, why are you scolding him Kasen, that's not a nice greeting! gosh... he would've probably greeted Kasen with much joy if the sword wasn't SCOLDING him! ]

W...Well, you see... [ YOU SEE... okay, no. he really doesn't have an excuse. he was just, you know, basking in the limelight for a bit. oops..? ]

Is that what you did? Do you know what this is all about?

[ checkmate Kasen. ]

[ It's a very gentle scolding, okay!! It have been a lot harsher, which is what Kasen immediately wishes he had gone towards as soon as Kanesan turns the question back on him. He grimaces slightly, which is answer enough, but then unrolls his own pamphlet with a sigh. It's the "What to Expect" one, and... That's sort of helpful, he guesses? But it's also wholly unbelievable, so far as he's concerned. ]

How would I? All of these are completely nonsense, aren't they?

[ Not completely, actually, but Kasen certainly thinks they are. He makes a little "hmph" sound. ]

Honestly... You would think there would be better explanations with the gifts as well!

[ this is what happens when you try to sass someone Kasen. it's war now. ]

I ... Guess... [ ... to be honest, he only read the titles of the pamphlets... sweats. okay, for the record still, he was too occupied with the crowd of people! ] Did you see this one?

[ so, he hands over the 'alternatives to human flesh' pamphlet. mostly as a 'please read it instead' gesture, so Izuminokami doesn't have to do extra work. Kasen likes literary things anyway, right? he should love to read all these pamphlets then. ]

Hehe. I think they were pretty charmed by me, so that's why they probably left you in a hurry. I even got more gifts than you. [ nod, nod! there's a teasing grin on his features. obviously, the attention from earlier made him quite happy (despite how weird this situation is currently)! also, please don't hit him again, Kasen.

... Although, despite maybe having more gifts Izuminokami still knows pretty much nothing, but that particular piece of information doesn't matter if Kasen doesn't catch it. ]

[ Kasen takes the pamphlet, at least, though as he gives it a glance, the one he returns up to Kanesan is an expression that's completely flat. He seems awfully cheerful about this, doesn't he? So the possibilities are either:

1) Izumi-kun is an idiot. He doesn't realize what these pamphlets are implying.
2) Izumi-kun is really an idiot. He hasn't read them in the first place.

Kasen knows which one is worse here, but that's what makes his expression so flat. He has a good idea which of the two is true. ]

Izumi-kun... Do you realize why they're giving you gifts?

[ isn't reading the title enough. you can get quite a lot of information from just the title and the picture on the front, right?

but also, Izuminokami received most of the joke pamphlets for some reason so all they really did was just confuse him. it seems like with every group of people they give out different pamphlets? he definitely didn't remember seeing the one Kasen had specifically.

[ of course, the grin fades with that look Kasen is giving him- in which he immediately speaks up with a: ] Hey, hey come on now! Doesn't it seem a bit too silly because...

[ uhm... uhm. he didn't even read the pamphlets, he can't really give any good evidence or excuses. ] You know...

[ As expected, and yet. And yet. Kasen gets visibly irritated, but then steps forward to smack Kanesan's head again. That's just for being a moron, because after that, he flips open the pamphlet to the "you're going to turn into a monster" part and pushes it in Kanesan's face. ]

I know your head is empty, but honestly!! You got wrapped up in the gifts that easily?
