TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

• You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
• We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
• Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.


• The Reserve date is 01/29.
• Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
• Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

Hm? Well, training in warfare allows the citizenry to be better equipped to protect our homeland, does it not? But, the reasoning for our required educations do not really matter here...the main point is that if we can acquire firearms and bullets specifically designed to impair the monsters found here, I can train you to utilize them and we will be doubly well protected.

[ Sonia had sort of guessed that Saionji didn't remember certain things - especially one thing in particular - given the fact she hadn't been ranting about it, but this kind of confirms it, yep. ]

Well...we shall have to figure out a method of contacting them if they are in fact here! Perhaps we can post an ad somewhere...? I suppose we shall put it on our list of things to do.

[ She's not touching the jab at Someone Monstrous, apparently, but begins walking to head into town... ]

Saionji-san, what is the last thing you remember doing before coming here, if I might ask?

If they were looking for an ad. t's better than staying still, though.

[She rolls her eyes but that's all she says on that particular matter. She begins to follow Sonia only to stop.]

About when we were discussing what to do with those three that caught that stupid disease, back in the hospital lobby.

[ They're not really close enough that Sonia can spot a lie like that immediately, so... ]

Eh...I see! I remember more than that, so it appears time discrepancies are a thing! If that's the case, I wonder if there will also be love triangles and long-lost family members...?

[It's still before certain events at least. What's a day or two?]

This isn't one of those dramas--what kind of drama has this kind of shit going on, anyway?

Hm, this particular mix is perhaps hard to find...but doesn't a discrepancy in memories seem a popular trope? If there is one, there is certain to be more! Perhaps star-crossed love between two rival monster types...?

Wouldn't know...I don't watch those. ...what, werewolves and vampires? Doesn't that sound cliche already?

Those who laugh at cliches will be brought to tears by them, Saionji-san! ...They could always be two points of a love triangle! But what would the third one be...? It cannot be a human here. Perhaps a mermaid?

What about a troll? A giant, pig-faced troll sounds like it'd be a fit... isn't there always an arranged marriage or something in those stories?

[Sorry, Tsumiki...even when you're not present she's still going to laugh at you in her mind.]

An arranged marriage often occurs! But who would the troll be engaged to...ah, perhaps they publish serials about such stories here! I do not know if the technology seems to be advanced enough for television dramas, but that would be good as well.

They used to publish serials and crap like that before television so there's probably that. ...and obviously the troll would be engaged to the vampire. Aren't vampires usually nobility? So the vampire is arranged to marry the stupid troll but they meet the werewolf instead.

[Saionji you shouldn't encourage her.]

Ah! Then in your version, the vampire and the werewolf fall desperately in love, no? So the troll is the antagonist! Or the troll's family, at the least. And the mongrel werewolf must win approval from his true love's family!

Of course. Who's ever heard of a troll as the protagonist? The mongrel probably is pretty plain looking and boring but the vampire definitely loves him more than the troll.

Plain looking heroes are magnificent, are they not? My country also has a legend about one...
