JANUARY TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE
Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

  • You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
  • We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
  • Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.

  • The Reserve date is 01/29.
  • Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
  • Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

( The explanations were weird. Not because supernatural beings were unusual for Lydia, she would almost laugh at how not-unusual they'd now become, but because of how they were delivered. The hospital staff were helpful if jumpy, and no matter what Lydia asked them she couldn't get a straight or real-sounding answer out of them.

In the end she'd taken the pamphlets from them and had gone to the hospital cafeteria to read them. She'd get an answer somehow. There'd been worse puzzles in her life.

Lydia's been sat busy reading for at least half an hour, finding some of the pamphlets useful and some idiotic. At the sound of approaching footsteps Lydia puts her hand up to try and stop the person approaching - she's busy, gosh - but then changes her mind )

Wait. ( One second while she finishes that sentence, and then looks up ) Do changes run with the full moon as well as the fog or just one?

( three. )
( The pain had been unbearable, worse than anything she'd experienced before. A bite, the kanima sting - at least that time she'd been paralysed, unable to feel much of anything. Now it was happening to Lydia - things that Scott would have understood and been able to help with. Her knew what changing was like, and she had to wonder if it had hurt this much for him.

There'd been a lot she'd had trouble with too - retracting her claws, getting used to her heightened sight. Everything was too clear and Lydia could see further - see more than she'd ever thought a human could. But she wasn't a human now. Lydia had gone from a banshee to a harpy.

That's what the wings had told her, or someone had told her the wings meant. Bird-like claws, sight and then wings. Apparently it meant she could fly, but it hadn't been something she'd been willing to test her. Her back still hurt from when they'd grown in, and the wings themselves felt tender - she'd noticed that when she'd bumped into a doorway earlier that morning )

Please tell me it gets easier.

( It's said to the person nearest to her as she queues at a cafe. It's the pain that Lydia wants to know about, though anything being easier- she still apparently has to feed. Eat human flesh. Lydia doesn't know if that's possible, but it sounds so much better than having to kill someone. She feels sorry for those that have to )

[ This whole thing was a disaster. An incredibly badly organized disaster at that, why didn't anyone want to talk about, you know, anything? The hospital staff was the shiftiest he'd ever seen and the locals seemed to either run away or tell him strange things, ranging from "if I give you this bag of coins, will you pray for our souls" to "our entire house is in your use, just remember us in a month's time!". None of it made any sense.

Of course, that only meant Stiles was all the more hell-bent on figuring out just why everyone had lost their minds. The pamphlets were disturbing, informative or downright stupid, but at least he thought he had a slightly better idea of this new nightmare...

... and when facing a nightmare, food was paramount. Hey, maybe he could actually put that bag of coins to good use. And because the only place selling food he'd remembered seeing was the cafeteria, that's where he goes, a sandwich and a cup of coffee in his hand and a few coins poorer at the end of it.

Until there's a hand waving at him and words and-- ]

That's your opening statement?

[ Seriously, Lydia, not even a "nice to see you here"?

Granted, he's the one dealing with the utter shock of seeing her by pretending they're still back home and this is the school cafe and she's asking about their upcoming history test, but, you know. Baby steps. ]

I mean, that crossed my mind, too, but how about a "hi Stiles, nice to see you in this weird time-travel city, let's look at these pamphlets about supernatural beings together"? [ His voice may sound a little panicked by the end of it all. This is the biggest mess they've got themselves into so far, and that's saying a lot. ]

[The person nearest her, as it turns out, is a lot of spider, with half a woman apparently bursting out of the spider's head. It's not the prettiest picture, even as monsters go.

Her face, though, is nearly entirely human, and sympathetic in a cool, reserved way.]

That depends what you mean by easier.

[At least during the day Bucky didn't have any changes, so he didn't have to worry about freaking people out. Unless anyone thought a metal arm was particularly alarming.

He'd been heading over to see if she needed any help, but stopped when she held up a hand, confused. But then he was even more confused with her question.]
They start with the fog but some people change every night. And with the fog.
