TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!

Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

Er...well, because you would be exploded at that point? Even if it were a fun activity at the time, I feel that it would be the last fun activity one ever partook in, you see?

[GIR likely looks a little lower budget than that bear as well.]

[Granted it hasn't fully registered to him that things may be different as a human. Or even that he is human at all. He's just gonna steal that seat by you, Sonia.]

Soooo what're you doing with the little handouty thing? I tried to get it in my head but it got stuck on the outside.

[There is indeed a pamphlet stuck to the back of his head.

So maybe a lot more low budget.]

I was reading it, but there were several things that ought to have been included, so I moved on to editing! Thankfully, I am well versed in occult topics!

Uuhhhhhhhh, I'm not a SIR, I'm a GIR! I'mma robot in disguiiiiise. [He's snickering now. And definitely not concerned with how the point of his disguise was to not be outed as an alien robot.]

[And then he listens dutifully to her explanation.]

[ Should...should you be more concerned about someone being a robot in disguise PROBABLY, BUT SHE KNOWS A ROBOT WHO CRIES SODA TEARS, so maybe her excitement rather than disbelief or fear is warranted. ]

I do not know why entering the information as you usually would - presumably? - did not work, then, but I am pleased to assist! Occult refers to the supernatural, in this case. Although given they seem to be natural in this world, I wonder if that applies...?

[He says wistfully, in response to why he can't just look up the definition in the computer brain dictionary that he doesn't have.]

[Also, if he knew about soda fountain eyes he would want to lick them all day long. Don't tell him about that.

He's just going to look around at her last question, and then jump off the bench.]

I do not think that a terrible idea, but where should we look for it? Traditionally, it ought to like swamps and creeks and things of that ilk...

[ Sonia rises from the bench, collecting all her pamphlets neatly. Apparently she's willing to go on a monster quest??? ]

Nnghhhh.... [He holds his head and focuses hard, apparently trying to actually use his guidance chip for once in his life to find some of those, but he's human now so that's not happening.] Hnnnnghhhh....!!!!

[and then, just as lightly as he was before,] I dunno.

...Er, what were you attempting to do, sir Gir?

[ WAS THAT A ROBOT THING...

Her other robot friend never did that particular robot thing, so she can't be sure. ]

Have you a headache? We can return to the hospital at once if so!

Find a swamp!

[but at her question, he nods quickly.]

I thought too hard.

Oh dear...I do not know that aspirin would be of much help to robots, but perhaps we should go inside and ask for some, just in case?

[ It wouldn't do to allow him to wander around with a headache, after all! :c ]

'Kay...

[He holds out his hand. Will you hold his little hand.]

[ Well, he seems like a small child robot (??? in a weird costume???) so she will of course hold his hand! He doesn't seem to be a danger to her, at any rate, although he is perhaps a danger to himself. ]

Come along! I do not know if they have aspirin in particular, but they doubtless have something you can take for a headache...do you feel well besides that, Gir?

[He'll run along to keep pace with her, his feet squeaking all the way. He doesn't know the first thing about human medicine so even aspirin goes over his head, so he just stares ahead quietly at that, but he looks up when she asks if there's something else.]

Uh... my tummy's empty! Need food.

[Doesn't really count as an illness, but it's probably a shared sentiment among newcomers at the moment.]

Well, they were offering food inside, to, er, keep us from eating them. We can simply take them up on that offer, no?
