TEST DRIVE: NOVMEMEBER (get it because it's a meme)

- You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
- We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
- Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.
- The reserve date is 11/27.
- Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
- Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.
Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[She sure knows she'd rather not be devoured by some hungry monster. That does beg the question - ]
...until those of us who are new here begin to transform, ourselves, are we in the same sort of danger as the locals...?
[If she has to prepare to defend herself from monsters and monster hunters, she'd rather get started on that sooner rather than later.]
no subject
...I'm not sure. Nobody tried to hurt me when I first came here, but...there might be more dangerous people around, too. That's what it was like at home.
no subject
[But with some luck, the most dangerous people can be avoided - Sen hopes, anyway. She feels rather lucky with the people she's encountered so far; Yue seems quite kind, and nobody has tried to make her into a meal just yet.]
We'll both have to do our best to avoid the dangerous people around here, isn't that right?
no subject
Mm, that's right. We'll just have to be careful. [A pause. Dwelling on this subject isn't particularly uplifting, but then, considering where they are...]
...It doesn't take too long to change though, I think. And there's people who will be nice to you even if you aren't a monster yet, like Okita-san and Hijikata-san.
no subject
The poor dear. He must really be starved for affection, or at least as willing to believe in the good in people as Chizuru was. Sen's heart goes out to him.]
Pardon me... when you say that, do you mean Okita-san and Hijikata-san of the Shinsengumi?
no subject
[Does she know them, then? He has to stop to think for a moment, though. Are they from Shinsengumi? He might've heard the name somewhere, at some point, but...]
Ummm. I'm not sure? Okita-san's first name is Souji though. Is that the same Okita-san?
no subject
[She supposes it is possible that it's a coincidence - but what a strange coincidence it would be, for someone bearing the same name as somebody she's vaguely acquainted with to end up in the same place as her, when they've apparently been whisked away to a new world by forces beyond their control.]
That is the given name of the Okita-san I know of, but... [What are the odds? If it is Souji, though, she'll definitely have to be more on her guard. The man was ridiculously strong even for a human, and she'd certainly observed some rather questionable tendencies of his before Chizuru had gone off with her much nicer young man...] I hadn't expected anyone else that I knew to be here, too.
no subject
Still, he notices she doesn't exactly look happy to hear that someone she knows is here...]
Are you a.......acquaintance? Of Okita-san.
no subject
I'm acquainted with someone who is an acquaintance of his, would be the most accurate way of putting it. [That about sums it up. She and the Okita from her world aren't friends by any means, but she's come into contact with him on a few occasions.] Not to mention, the Shinsengumi has... something of a reputation, in Kyoto.
[It's a bad reputation, but eh.]
no subject
[That's the part that catches his attention, leaning towards her with a curious look on his face.]
Are they famous? What do they do?
no subject
[Infamous might be a more apt description. But she's not going to delve too deeply into that.]
It's their job to patrol the city's streets and ensure that no rogue samurai are causing any trouble. Unfortunately, some perceive them as having gotten into that line of work for the opportunities to fight that it provides them. Whether they're really as violent as some of the rumors say is anyone's guess.
[She's sure they're more violent, actually, but perhaps they've been restraining themselves here since this isn't their home turf.]
no subject
[Ah yes, those shows were fun....too bad samurai cop shows aren't a thing in European Ryslig.]
I don't think that's right, they're very nice! Or they've been nice to me, at least. Ah, but Hijikata-san is kind of scary sometimes! So maybe that's where the rumors came from.
no subject
[Okita's, she's not quite so sure about. She'll probably feel differently about that once she actually meets him and finds out he's not as much of an asshole as the Okita from her world, though.]
...my apologies, though, I'm a bit confused. What do you mean by "show"?
[Teach her about soap operas and dramas, Yue. Do it.]
no subject
[Probably? Surely? He doesn't know much of honor, to be honest, but he does trust the man.]
...Eh? Ah, have you seen shows before? On the TV.
[He watches very little, sadly, but he can talk about what he knows!?]
no subject
...and then she blinks, because, uh, what.]
"TV"? I've never heard of such a thing before.
no subject
It's, um...sort of a box-shaped thing with a glass part on the front? And when you turn it on, you can see people doing things! There's all sorts of shows, like the one with the samurai, and this show for kids that I don't really understand, and...I haven't really watched anything since I got here, but I'm sure there's still a lot of interesting things to see.
no subject
[It's not really anything she's used to, but she's fascinated by it nonetheless. There's no reason why she can't take the opportunity to learn new things that winding up in this place has offered her - and so she smiles easily.]
Perhaps you and I could watch something together, sometime? Then we could both learn more about it.
no subject
[It's a (play)date! He smiles happily, kicking his legs with that energy kids tend to have when sitting in one place. He still gets excited when people want to meet up with him again, and really, what's more exciting than a new friend, anyway?]
no subject
Oh, I do hope so! [As strange as all of this is, there's something exhilarating about making new - friends? She'd like to hope for friends, but that's been a lot easier said than done in her experience. She'll be cautiously optimistic about this.] It seems as though there are many different kinds of shows, so there's bound to be something we enjoy.
no subject
That's right! There's probably all sorts of shows out there, like...ones about school! Or festivals! [Things he kindasorta knows!!]
no subject
Ooh! Speaking of festivals, I'm sure this place has festivals of its own, too, does it not? We could watch shows about them, and then visit them in person to see how they compare.
no subject
[Moving on from movie nights to festival outings!]
no subject
[And that's to keep an eye and an ear out, and attend! ...though, depending on how far along they are in their transformations by the time any festivals happen, that might be easier said than done. With a little luck though, maybe it'll work out.
She smiles and holds out a hand with one pinkie extended.] Promise you'll go with me?
no subject
Ah, but...he blinks at that pinkie, slightly confused. Do pinkies have something to do with promises? Yue holds out his own hand, mirroring hers, but obviously isn't really sure what the gesture is supposed to mean.
Still, confusing gestures or not, the smile doesn't fade.] ...I promise! It's a lot more fun when you're not alone, right? So we'll definitely go together.
