TEST DRIVE: NOVMEMEBER (get it because it's a meme)

- You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
- We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
- Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.
- The reserve date is 11/27.
- Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
- Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.
Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.
sans || undertale
[When Sans woke up in a hospital, of course the first thing he felt was panic, stress. He remembered opening the barrier and getting ready to go to the surface, and yet somehow he's woken up in an infirmary? He didn't remember passing out or getting hurt or anything, so it was just weird. And come to think of it... his body felt weird, too. Like, heavier than normal. Huh.
He slowly gets out of his hospital bed, wondering if any of his friends were around, waiting for him to wake up or something. Knowing Papyrus, he'd probably be right outside his room hoping that Sans was going to be alright. Well, couldn't keep the guy waiting, right?
He exits, sees no one familiar. O..kay. Alright. There's a lot of humans around, which means he definitely made it on the surface. Okay Sans, act natural and they won't think anything of a monster walking around.
He leaves the hospital with no problems, which comes to him as a surprise. Even more so was the utter lack of a familiar face waiting outside. Just where was everyone... they couldn't have just dropped him off and expected him to find his way back to wherever their new home was, that wasn't like them at all. He lets out a sigh, and runs a hand through his hair as he tried to stay calm and not worry about --
Wait.
Hair?
Confused, Sans slowly lowers his hand so he can look it over - and his eyes widen at the sight of skin wrapped around it. What.. why did he have skin? Why did he have hair? Just what was going on..?
A little desperate and creeped out, he approaches the first person he can find, trying to keep a calm smile on his otherwise panicked face.]
Hey, buddy. Mind if I ask you somethin'?
ii. wildcard!
[I'm really lame and don't feel like writing more top levels SO THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN gimme whatever scenario you wanna toss at me, I don't care what it is I'm for everything you got!]
you'd better appreciate the four icons I have now
But they cut him down. He shouldn't be here.
A wide smile.]
Only if I may ask you something in return.
you know i do
It's too bad this Sans is from the wrong timeline.]
Sure thing kid, shoot. [He leans back a little casually, hands in his hoodie pockets. He'll let them have the floor first, his own question can wait.]

hi loser
Of course, darling! You can ask me anything you'd like!
[... And yet, something about this short guy in front of him seems...
Familiar.
It makes his eyebrows scrunch up with a little confusion.]
... But I'd like to ask you something, first.
ew
Jk he's actually relieved to see Metatton here. Definitely wasn't expecting the guy he was talking to to turn out to be the robot but hey, he's not complaining.]
Go for it.
ew yourself nerd
I'm only friends with one human, so it certainly can't be that!
[Yep. He doesn't recognize Sans at all, despite having employed him at his resort so long ago.]

Hi.
[Who better to get help from than a well-dressed, shadow-laden skeleton? Boxer grimaces when he really catches Sans's expression--the guy looks like he's
having a bad timeseen better days.]Yeah, what's up?
no subject
It's comfortable?]
...this is the surface, yeah? [Kind of a vague question, but that's just how Sans rolls.]
no subject
What a weird question. He's either not from around here or needs to head back into the hospital...]
Surface of what...?
no subject
... What is it? [ Although she might look mostly human, there's some parts to her that are out of place. Huge, wavy, orange fins on her arms and behind her ears, a tattoo that seems more like a barcode that reads "future" in Japanese - not that Sans' would probably know that, most likely - and some heart-shaped, rainbow like scales that seep through the rips on her sweater. ]
no subject
This might sound weird but... I'm not a monster am I? [He practically knows the answer by now, but some actual validation would be nice.]
no subject
You're not... a monster. [ There's a lilt to her voice as if she wants to say yet, but refrains from doing so. ]
gently stacks a wildcard riffing off four on your pile of tags; hope this is cool
[Stocke ducks around the corner, and the shade's eyes widen marginally as he sees Sans. Whether the former skeleton's looking monstrous again (and Stocke doesn't want to lead monster hunters onto another monster) or still stuck as a newly-minted human (with Stocke immediately assuming he's one of those hunters), the shade skids to a stop. This is a dead end. He spins around - halfway, one eye on Sans, one back the way he came.]
[He's looked mostly human himself up until now, if, you know... weirdly grayscale, and with blankly glowing eyes. But that appearance jitters and melts, and suddenly there's something rather less so in front of Sans. It's just in time for a duo of humans to follow, one slung practically to his ears with silver, the other dressed in black but with small bulges speaking to hidden weaponry; for some reason, both of them are holding straight up medieval-style torches instead of flashlights. The first is also tossing a bottle in one hand, gearing up to throw.]
[Stocke, in return, makes a soft static-like hissing noise - it doesn't seem to be coming from any sort of mouth. And - whoa. Well, that's certainly a lot of spindly extra arms he's shapeshifting.]
[It's nothing but a bluff - most of them aren't even solid. But the shade's not going to say that.]
this is definitely cool!
Anyway, he was just wanting to find a place to get some coffee when he heard footsteps behind him. They sounded rushed, and he immediately assumed it was someone after him, or trying to get past him at least. So he turned around, prepared to fight or move aside but Stocke was frozen in front of him and for a split second Sans thought he was going to become monster chow.
That is, till the shade spun around and started transforming. Sans watched, eyes widened a little at the sight of the tall skeleton standing in front of him but he didn't have time to gawk, as the hunters turned the corner and was now facing the two of them down.
Luckily, it looked like Stocke was on Sans side for this fight, as he hisses at the hunters and starts shapeshifting to look more intimidating. Sans instinctively took a few steps back, not really wanting to get into the fray of whatever was about to go down, but his hand went to his pocket just in case, where a dull dagger was kept for just such occasions since.. y'know. He's basically powerless until he gains a monster form himself.]
...who's your friends? [He doesn't bother keeping his voice down, they already know they're right there so no point in being discreet. Just trying to strike up a conversation mostly to see if the shade was really not going to attack him or anything.]
no subject
[Either way, by asking that of Stocke instead of the humans, this guy's given himself away. And made himself a target on top of it. Carefully, Stocke shifts positions to put himself in between Sans and the hunters; he doesn't quite bare his back to Sans, still slanted diagonally, but he's not standing like he's expecting a three-pronged attack anymore.]
Monster slayers, [he answers finally, sharp, maybe two or three seconds after Sans spoke. But by this point the hunters have gotten impatient, if they were ever planning to wait for a monster to stand around and chat in the first place - the one with the bottle throws it at Stocke and Sans, an overhand swing.]
[Stocke's eyes snap to the motion. He catches the bottle with telekinesis before it hits the ground - there's a strong smell of kerosene - and flings it back, then starts backing toward Sans. Over his shoulder -] Any way out behind you?
[All this fuss is, honestly, making the shade very tempted just to yank out the hunters' souls. They're not interested in any sort of truce and they knew what they were getting into, going after monsters. Trouble is - he's already tried that. Hell if he knows what it is, maybe some sort of native protection magic, but all he gets trying to touch them is a strong zap.]
no subject
[Sans, however, does at least get a look of mild curiosity as she carefully turns around on her crutches. He's clearly someone in the same situation as her, so she's willing to extend the benefit of the doubt.]
No, though I don't know how much help I will be.
no subject
Just wanted to ask if you knew a good place to get some grub 'round here? Possibly for free or uh, at least for cheap.
no subject
I'm afraid not. A lot of the locals here do seem to be very generous, but I'm not sure how much I would trust that.
no subject
Yes, of course!
[He's inclined to assume this is a New Person, but it could be a panicked native, he supposes. EITHER WAY, HE'S HERE TO HELP.]
no subject
Seen anyone named Papyrus 'round here? [First things first, make sure his brother's at least marginally okay.]

You could ask me a hundred questions if you really wanted. I've got time to burn.
[...And he's a gargoyle, so he can breathe fire, and did he just make an unintentional pun?
Do pardon him if he hides his face under his palm for a moment.]
no subject
Really? Because I've probably got about a hundred to ask, if you're serious about that. [Nah he's got like three at most.]
